Work Text:
Lightning stood in the middle of the dance floor, bodies around her dancing beneath the lights that flickered through thousands of colors, Vanille and Fang grinding against each other as the music resonated in her chest.
Vanille had invited her earlier, standing in her kitchen with her hands clasped beneath her chin and her eyes doing the thing.
"Come on, Light," she had said. "Please? Just one night. It will be fun, I promise."
Fang and Vanille had been clubbing together in the city ever since they moved to the New World. Vanille had invited Lightning several times before, convinced that she could persuade her into doing something fun with them instead of staying home all the time. Now that she'd finally gotten a yes out of her, she'd made sure all three of them took their time getting ready.
Fang wore dark flared pants and a black tank top, her hair loose and falling past her shoulders like it always did. Vanille had on a pastel pink mini skirt with a white ruched crop top, hair in pigtails pinned with little pearl clips. Lightning wore a matching denim set consisting of a mini skirt and a buttoned crop top short enough to show her navel piercing, paired with tall black leather boots. Vanille had clapped when she saw her, to Lightning's amusement.
Now that she was here, she wasn't sure why she said yes. Inside the club, Vanille had wasted no time pulling both Fang and Lightning onto the dance floor. Lightning had genuinely tried to dance, but her body moved in precise, controlled moves instead of flowing with the music. It was a hard habit to let go after so many years of fighting. She had grown self conscious of her stiffness and slipped to the side, slowly bobbing her head to the rhythm while the other two kept going.
The heat in the club was starting to suffocate her, and she wasn't even properly dancing anymore, she just stood there awkwardly watching Fang and Vanille.
"I'm gonna go sit and get something to drink," Lightning said. "You coming?"
Fang shook her head. "You go ahead, we'll go in a bit"
Vanille nodded and kept dancing.
Lightning made her way to the bar and ordered something strong and cold. She turned on her stool so her back faced the bar, her eyes on the dance floor now. From here she could still catch glimpses of them. Fang's hands were on Vanille's waist now, both of them rolling their hips to the rhythm, their skin glistening under the lights. They danced as if nobody was watching, their bodies in perfect sync, as if they could read each other's next step. Lightning wished she had taken the time to learn how to dance after seeing them tonight.
Then she saw Snow. He was on the far right of the dance floor, taller than almost everyone around him, dancing with a woman in a tight red dress she didn't recognize. It had been six months since he and Serah ended things, and he had been filling the time with extra shifts at work and nights out to places like this, mostly to avoid the internal work of getting over her. But he seemed to be doing a lot better now, as it had been weeks since the last time he called her.
Of all the places…
She turned back to face the bar as soon as she spotted him and hoped he hadn't noticed her. She'd gotten a few sips in of her drink before a voice cut through the pounding music behind her.
"Lightning?!" She recognized it immediately.
Snow leaned in close to be heard, sitting in the stool beside her. "What are you doing here?" he said, still in disbelief.
Lightning avoided his gaze, cursing her luck in silence.
Snow ordered a cocktail and turned back to her. "This is the last place I expected to find you."
"Me too," she finally said.
"Are you alone?"
"No, Fang and Vanille are dancing over there." Lightning nodded toward the dance floor.
It took him a moment to find them when he turned, a grin breaking across his face. "Wow, those two seem to be having fun." He turned back. "And what about you? You're not going to dance?"
Lightning was quiet for a moment. "It's not my thing."
Snow accepted his drink from the bartender. "Give me a few sips of this and then you're coming with me."
"Aren't you with someone?" said Lightning. "I saw you with a girl over there."
Snow shrugged. "We were just dancing, I don't know her."
A beat of silence passed between them, both of them sipping on their cocktails.
"How are things with Serah?" asked Lightning.
Snow took a long sip and let it sit. "Good." he said. "I called her over a month ago." He turned the glass slowly in his hand. "I wished her all the best with Noel. He's a good man, I'm sure he will make her happy." He took another sip. "It took me a while to get to a place where I could say that and mean it, but hey."
Lightning said nothing, the music still pushing around them.
"But, I still care about you two," he added, placing a hand on her shoulder. "So I hope you don't mind me calling every now and then." He winked.
Lightning pulled a thin smile. Snow was a good man too. She had thought of him as almost part of her family, and that wasn't something that disappeared just because circumstances changed. She had no intention of letting him vanish from her life.
They sat in silence after that, quietly bobbing their heads to the music pounding around them. Then the track shifted, the beat dropping into something rhythmic and heavy, a deep bass thudding through the walls of the club.
Snow's eyes lit up as he was taking a sip of his drink.
"Oh- Wait!" He chugged the rest of his cocktail in one go and he turned to Lightning with an expression she could only describe as unhinged delight. "I love this song!"
He was on his feet before she could react, his hand closing around her wrist.
"Snow-" Lightning groaned.
"Come on, Light." He was already moving, pulling her gently toward the floor, grinning back at her.
She let herself be pulled two steps before she planted her feet. "Snow, I'm not going to dance-"
"I'll buy you another drink, just dance this one with me," he said, still smiling.
She rolled her eyes, let out a breath, and let him lead her onto the dance floor.
Out here the bass was physical, it moved up through the legs and settled in the chest, making her aware that her body had no idea what to do with it. She started to move, but her steps were careful and measured, years of muscle memory that did not understand flow very well.
She looked at Snow as he lost himself in the music. His messy hair fell just past his shoulders, the layered necklaces at his chest catching the light when he moved. He wore a white tank top that left his arms bare as he swayed side to side, and baggy jeans that flowed with every roll of his hips. His body moved like it already knew where the next note was going to land, all while singing along at full volume.
She didn't let herself look at him for too long.
"You're overthinking it," he said, close enough to be heard.
Snow moved in close without crowding her. "Stop thinking about your feet," he said. "Just feel it in your hips." He shifted his weight side to side, showing her what he meant.
Lightning tried it and it felt mechanical. She tried it again, and on the third attempt she felt her body loosen as the movement came a little easier.
Snow grinned. "There you go."
He dropped down slowly until their faces were at the same level, still moving with the beat, singing every word directly at her with a proud grin. He was completely feeling himself.
Lightning wasn't sure if her drink was too strong, but she felt heat rise to her cheeks at the sight of him. She had always known Snow as a sturdy person. She had seen him in combat, fought him even, and he was able to hold his ground. She had never seen him like this, his body moving like water to the music.
She turned around in an attempt to stop staring, her back now to him. She could feel him behind her, the warmth of his presence close. His hands settled lightly on her hips, as if asking for permission, and she didn't move away.
"Follow me," he said somewhere above her ear.
Snow got right behind her, his body warm against her back. He started swaying his hips slowly, and she followed his motion for one, two, then three beats, until they were moving together. The shyness loosened, and she could feel her hips moving more freely, the rhythm of the music reaching her entire body instead of just her ears. She wasn't sure how many songs had passed, but the heat between them had been building the entire time they'd been whining against each other.
She turned back around. Snow had a smirk on his face, a thin line of sweat running down from his temple, and his tank top was damp at the collar.
"You learn fast," he said, reaching for her wrists and lifting her arms to his shoulders, then settled his hands back on her waist.
The warmth of his breath and the scent of his musk mixed with the sweet scented perfume he was wearing made heat settle low in her stomach. She'd always found Snow attractive from a distance, but standing this close, his hands on her waist and his mouth a few centimeters from her face, she was starting to lose herself. The last time they had been this physically close was when she begged him to save his soul from the Chaos in Yusnaan.
They stayed like that through three more songs, grinding their hips to the beat, stealing quick glances at each other, until she couldn't take it anymore.
Lightning slid her hand from his shoulder to his collar and grabbed a fistful of his shirt, pulling him down for a kiss. Snow melted into it instantly, one hand tightening at her waist, the other rising to the nape of her neck. The kiss was slow and warm and tasted like whatever he'd been drinking. His lips parted against hers and she let hers part too, his tongue meeting hers as the kiss deepened. She found herself pulling at his collar instead of letting go, and felt him press closer. The music was loud enough to make them forget about everything for those fifteen seconds.
When they pulled apart, Lightning planted her hands flat against his chest and pushed him away hard enough that he stumbled back a step.
"Whoa-" He caught himself, more startled than anything.
She stepped back as well and averted her gaze. She couldn't look at him right now.
What am I doing?
She walked past him and cut toward the bathroom without a word.
"Lightning, wait-" Snow reached for her hand but missed.
She was relieved to find one of the bathrooms empty. She locked the door behind her and turned to the sink, catching herself in the dirty mirror. Her lipstick was smeared, her cheeks flushed, and her skin damp with sweat.
She leaned over the sink and ran cold water over her face, then used paper towels to wipe the lipstick off and pat herself dry. Vanille had spent nearly an hour on their makeup, which made Lightning feel quite bad about the state of her face now.
She watched herself take slow, deep breaths. What was she going to tell Serah? Did it even matter? Serah had moved on, she was with Noel now, and they didn't even live together anymore. But that didn't make this feel any easier. Snow had been on his way to become her brother-in-law, the fact that it was over between them didn't change that, and it didn't make getting with him suddenly right, not after everything they went through.
She leaned against the edge of the sink and let out a slow breath. The heat between her legs hadn't gone anywhere, and it had been so long since she had been intimate with someone, long enough to convince herself she didn't miss it. She wanted to blame the alcohol, but she knew she hadn't drunk enough to feel even a little tipsy. There was nothing else to make excuses for, she wanted him and she knew it.
She would find Fang and Vanille and get out before anything escalated. She needed to think straight and deal with this properly.
Loud thumps could be heard somewhere down the hall between the music. It was Snow working his way through the wrong doors.
"Lightning?" A muffled complaint could be heard. "Sorry, wrong one-"
Then the knock hit her door. "Lightning? Are you in there?"
Shit.
She closed her eyes and exhaled before moving to unlock and open the door, Snow standing right in front of her. She grabbed his wrist and pulled him inside, locking the door behind her and pressing her back against it.
This is a bad idea.
"Lightning, I'm… sorry," Snow said. "Are you okay?"
Lightning looked at his chest instead of his face. "No. It was my fault. I never should have done that."
"If you're worried about Serah, don't be." He always managed to read her mind. "It's all in the past now."
She didn't want to think about that. "Don't go there."
Snow took a step closer. "I'm just trying to tell you it doesn't matter-"
"Stop it." She cut him off.
Lightning stepped past him and moved to the sink, crossing her arms as she let him face her back.
"Hey, we were just dancing and got carried away." Snow started again. "We don't have to tell anyone about this, and Serah wouldn't care-"
"Stop bringing her up!" Lightning raised her voice.
"Well, what do you want me to say?!" Snow matched her volume. "That you're not the only one who wanted this?"
"What are you even saying…"
"Come on, Light." Snow said. "I kissed you back. And you know you wouldn't have done that unless you really wanted to."
Lightning sighed and looked down, a sting building in her chest. She hated that he was right. She was thinking of a hundred arguments, but none of them were honest. Whatever this was, she had started it, so she could only blame herself.
After a moment of silence, she let out a loud sigh and turned around.
The way he looked at her made it clear he wanted this to escalate. Her clit throbbed at the thought of it.
Stop looking at me like that.
Her eyes dropped to his lips, and Snow closed the distance slowly.
"You're overthinking it…" he said, his voice low, almost a whisper.
Before he could close it entirely, Lightning grabbed his collar with both hands and pulled him in. This kiss was nothing like the first one. Their lips parted and closed with no patience, their tongues meeting every time. She felt him groan against her mouth, her grip tightening on his shirt.
Snow wrapped one arm around her waist, the other one rising up to cup her breast over her top, massaging it gently. Lightning moaned against his mouth, her hands letting go of his collar to wrap her arms around his neck. Snow pulled back from the kiss to drag his lips along her jaw, trailing down until his face was buried in her neck. Lightning let her head fall back and exhaled sharply.
She could feel him growing hard against her skirt and reached down between her legs to press her palm against it, rubbing it slowly. He was bigger than she'd expected, his bulge rock solid against her touch. Snow groaned against her neck, which send shivers down her spine.
While Snow worked at her neck, his other hand moved to her chest and slowly parted the buttons of her top one by one. When the fabric fell open, he cupped both breasts, his hands looking comically large against her small, rounded boobs, and massaged them. He didn't waste time before dipping to take one nipple into his mouth, his hand toying with the other one. Lightning couldn't keep quiet, her arms pulled his head closer, her fingers running through his hair.
This feels so wrong.
But neither of them had any intention of stopping.
Snow moved to suck on the other nipple, his left arm now sliding beneath her skirt to palm her butt. His weight was pushing her against the edge of the sink, so he hooked that same arm beneath her and lifted her onto it to bring their faces on a closer level. Lightning grimaced at the thought of her bare skin touching the dirty sink, but she was too far gone to care.
He positioned himself between her legs, his hands grabbing her waist to pull her crotch against his. He started to roll his hips, his bulge pressing against her clit through her underwear. She locked her arms around his neck and matched his rhythm just as he showed her before, making sure she was getting what she needed. Her hands found their way to pull at his hair every time they made friction.
They were face to face, their foreheads nearly touching while they rubbed against each other, their breath and moans blurring together. She caught glimpses of his face. He was looking at her with half-closed eyes, cheeks flushed, and lips parted. The closeness of him was making it impossible to think, it was pathetic how much she needed him.
"Lightning…" he said in between ragged breaths. "I really want to fuck you right now."
Snow was running both of his hands around her body, touching her everywhere, pulling her closer while he kept rubbing against her. Lightning could only throw her head back and run her hands through his biceps and shoulders trapping her.
Snow slid one hand between her legs, his finger finding her clit through her underwear, working it slowly from side to side. She was soaking wet, her panties completely damp. He pulled back a little bit to watch her while she moaned uncontrollably against his touch, the sight of her amusing him. Lightning held onto his arm to keep herself from leaning back, completely tensed as he kept masturbating her. The music outside was pounding, but she was certain she could be heard over it.
Lightning couldn't take it anymore and forced her eyes open to give him a quick glare.
"Snow… Please."
Snow stopped. His hands reached into his back pocket to pull out his wallet and placed it on the sink, then unbuckled his belt and pushed his jeans and boxers down in one motion, letting his cock spring up.
He pulled out a condom from the wallet and looked at Lightning.
"Are you sure? We can stop if you-"
"Snow." Lightning wanted to say that sternly, but the desperation in her voice betrayed her.
"Okay, okay." He quickly unwrapped the condom, gave himself a few slow strokes and rolled it on. He reached under her skirt and brought her panties down, a wet trail appearing when he separated the fabric.
He spat on his palm and stroked himself once more before positioning himself at her entrance, his other hand rubbing her bare clit in slow circle motions. He pressed his tip against her and slowly pushed himself in.
Lightning shut her eyes and tugged at his shirt, her insides expanding at the entrance of him. Snow planted kisses on her forehead as he bent forward, his necklaces brushing over her face.
He started slow, giving her time to adjust to his size. Her moans were gradually getting louder with each stroke, her face relaxing and her hands letting go of his shirt, which he took as a sign to go faster. She felt warm and tight and so good around him as he thrust inside her. He couldn't keep his eyes off her, she looked so beautiful with that pleasure written across her face. He was struggling to think straight and keep himself from finishing too soon.
Snow gripped her legs to push himself deeper, her skirt bunched up around her waist. Lightning leaned against the mirror, her neck at an uncomfortable angle. She was sure she would feel the pain tomorrow, but he felt too good for her to care. He was hitting the right spot over and over again, sending warm waves all over her body.
A series of loud thumps broke through the music.
"Hello?! Somebody in there?!" they both heard a person say from the other side of the door.
They kept going, Snow slowing down as the knocking continued, Lightning now with a worried expression.
By the third round of knocking Snow had had enough.
"It's busy!" he yelled.
The thumping stopped.
Lightning slightly chuckled, which made Snow snicker as well.
"My neck is killing me." Lightning said.
"You wanna change?"
Lightning nodded, and Snow took himself out and straightened up, giving her space to move.
She stood up, turned around and leaned over the sink, her back now facing him.
"Oh, okay." Snow said, positioning himself at her entrance. He let out a sharp breath and shut his eyes as he pushed in. "Oh my god, Lightning…"
This position made his cock rub her insides differently, pressing into places that made her moan louder. She watched herself in the mirror rocking back and forth as Snow rolled his hips into her with each stroke. She was holding herself onto the sink, her skin flushed, lips parted, and her hair a complete mess. The sight of herself like that only made the heat worse.
Snow grabbed her hips to support himself as he thrust deeper. The sight of her bent over was pushing him over the edge, her toned back muscles contracting with every movement. Then he caught Lightning's reflection in the mirror, her eyes now looking straight at him. He bit his lower lip as he felt himself getting closer.
"Light, I'm gonna-". Snow's jaw tightened as he leaned over her and gave her one, two, three last deep strokes before he let out a loud groan against her back, his arms wrapping around her. She felt him pulse inside her, and watched his reflection as he tried to pull himself together, catching his breath.
He pulled out, immediately discarding the condom filled with his seed, and grabbed a napkin to wipe himself.
He turned his attention back to her. "Your turn."
He pulled her back up, kissed her again, then lifted her back onto the sink. He kneeled in front of her so his face was at the same level of her sex. He pulled both legs onto his shoulders and pressed his lips along the soft skin of her inner thighs, purposefully avoiding where she actually wanted his mouth.
Lightning ran her fingers through his hair, slowly pushing his head between her legs, which he resisted.
"Snow…" She groaned.
Snow looked up and gave her a smirk. "Sorry."
He pressed a trail of kisses along her inner thigh one last time before finally wrapping his mouth around her clit. His tongue worked in deliberate patterns, varying the pressure and the pace.
Lightning became a complete mess. Her body twitched at the sensation, her right leg beginning to tremble. She put a hand over her mouth, moaning into it, afraid of getting louder. The other one tugged at Snow's hair, her hips rolling slightly as she rode his face. His mouth was warm and wet, her thighs pressing closer around him. She looked down and saw his eyes were shut under his bangs, his face fully concentrated on the task at hand, which only made her moan louder.
Snow's hand slid up to her breast, his fingers toying with her nipples. She felt both sources of the sensations all over her body, warm waves crashing over her. She knew she couldn't last much longer.
"Snow- Ah!" She felt it build up, her lower abdomen contracting, both her legs shaking, trapping Snow's head between them. Pleasure flooded her entire body as she saw the lights, and her mind became blank. She threw her head back while she gasped for air, moans escaping her mouth as Snow kept riding out her orgasm, pressing her thighs on his shoulders and not letting go of her clit. It became too much, all her nerve endings becoming sensitive, and she pulled hard at his hair to make him stop.
"Snow- Please-" Her legs forcefully closed together as she couldn't take it anymore, and he finally let her go.
He lifted his head to look at her as she was trying to wind down. Her body felt lightweight, the tension slowly leaving her as she was catching her breath. She could feel the sweat on her skin, her whole body still radiating heat.
Snow stood up and pulled his jeans back on, then retrieved her underwear from the floor.
"All yours, m'lady," he said, smirking like an idiot.
Lightning snatched them from him with a huff.
His mouth and chin glistened in the light. He licked his lips to taste her fluids and swiped his chin with his fingers, licking the remainder off from them. He handed her a napkin to wipe herself with, and started to wash his face next to her.
Lightning stood up, her legs almost failing her. She used the toilet, then came out to wash up and put herself together. She did what she could with her hair, the spikes had softened into waves, completely ruining her signature hairstyle.
Snow leaned against the door frame and watched her fix herself. Before she could head outside, he pulled her in for a quick kiss, tasting herself on his lips.
"You okay?" Snow asked.
"Yeah." Lightning glanced toward the door. "But we should get out of here."
"Easy, easy." Snow had his arms up as he was being steered toward the exit by the security guard.
Lightning walked alongside him and didn't say a word, another guard walking behind her.
"If I see your faces in here again I'm calling the police," one of the guards said before shutting the door.
Lightning snorted, shaking her head in disbelief. Snow sighed and then chuckled as well.
They had it coming.
Fang and Vanille were outside among other people, both of them on their phones. When Vanille looked up, her face lit up in relief at the sight of them.
"Lightning!" She reached them and handed Lightning her purse. "Where were you? I was looking for you! I thought you'd gone home."
"Sorry, I ran into Snow at the bar area and he asked me to dance."
Snow gave an awkward little wave. "Hey, Vanille." He acknowledged Fang with a nod as she came up behind Vanille. "Fang."
"We looked through the club three times," Vanille said with a worried face. "We even split up to look for you." Fang nodded in agreement.
Lightning and Snow exchanged a quick look.
"We went up to the terrace to get some air. The club was starting to get overwhelming and… you know how Lightning is." Snow said. Lightning quickly frowned at his comment.
Fang put her hands on her hips and looked at both of them. Her face told them she didn't believe a word they said, but she let it go.
"You two go home, I'll catch up with you later. We still have some things to talk about." Lightning said.
Vanille took her hands and smiled at her. "I'll warm up some food for you, okay? Don't be too late."
"Thanks, Vanille," Lightning smiled at her offer.
They left. Lightning turned and started walking slowly beside Snow. Neither of them said anything for a moment.
"You owe me a cocktail, by the way," she said.
"I know a place where they make good cocktails, way better than this one."
"Are the bathrooms there cleaner?" Lightning teased.
Snow chuckled at her comment. "Yeah, I'm the one who cleans them."
