Work Text:
Ava is halfway through reorganizing her bathroom cabinet when O'shon realizes something important-
She's been talking for the last five minutes without breathing.
"And another thing," she ways kneeling dramatically in front of the cabinet, "why do I even own this many products? This one expired in, like, Pre-O'shon times.
"you said that about the last three bottles." O'shon is sitting on the edge of the bathtub watching her, she'd denied his help earlier, but not the audience. Fully entertained, he's been watching her attempting to, do whatever that is.
It's late, he had been debating if taking his shirt off was performative or not, it was hot as hell.
She's just in a tank-top and his basketball shorts.
Ava holds up another bottle suspiciously. "You're a nerd right," before he even answers she beats him to the actual question, " what even is hyaluronic acid."
"Well, you bought it, and didn't one of your old businesses have one of those." He waves at the bottle, now in the trash.
"Okay but that still doesn't answer my question." She frowns at him laughing at her.
"You know this is the only reason why you're here, this is why I need supervision." She points his eyes to the still to full drawer and the almost empty trash.
"This is me supervising." He crossing his arm, still seated at the tubs edge.
"No you're enabling me."
He watches her attempt to make her mess manageable for a minute before speaking again.
"You know what you should do."
He can feel Ava narrowing her eyes immediately.
"Just so you know pick your next sentence wisely you're already on a short straw."
"Color-code everything."
She's mid checking the label when he said that. She pauses, he can see she's genuinely considering it. He noticed it instantly.
"Oh wait," he says. "You like that idea."
"No I don't." She answers to fast.
"You made your face." He points at her face, her trying to stop her smile. God he knew her well.
"I do not make faces." She puts the abandoned bottle in the trash with a little to much force.
"Uh yes you do, you made your planning face." She swats his finger out of her face.
"Who do you think you are profiling me." She can't help but return his grin.
"You can't say you didn't start thinking about it." He joins her on the floor.
"maybe like a little."
He claps his hands and stands back up, pointing at her accusingly.
"I knew it!" she stand up just as him.
Pointing up and at him she replies "Do not profile me."
He grins and grabs her hand. "you absolutely started thinking about it."
"Okay I did but just for a little!" she thinks about it and moves her hands away.
"No we are not doing that though." She sees his face fall then go confused.
"Did you not just say you would?"
"I said I thought about and I did so no, we are not becoming those kind of people." She grabs more bottles from the cabinet and checking the labels.
"But it makes sense, why else would you consider it?" He sits back on the tub in defeat.
"It does make sense! That's not the issue though" She crosses her arms, mad.
Then what is it, why are you so against labels." He stands up grabbing her elbows.
"Because O'shon! Do you not see it!" His blank stare is answer enough "The only reason I decided to clean was to make room for your stuff." She turns around and grabs stuff, random bottles and serums.
"So your saying, were not labeling…?" very confused he asks.
She ignors him, throwing more and more stuff away before turning towards him.
"No, what im saying is people that start labeling and doing stuff like this." motioning towards the gab between them. "They end up with like a shared netflix account."
"Ok well I get that, but Ava." he grabs her hand, fighting a smile on his lips. "We've been sharing a Netflix account since like forever."
She looks at him mad. "I know that! It was just an example okay. Look I don't care how close we are, I don't want our lives to mesh together, it's to fast."
"okay that's cool and understandable. Look you didn't have to make room for me." He grabs her waist pulling her in. "You wanted to make room for me."
She scoffs in his face, but leans closer. "Whatever, just don't try moving in slowly okay?"
"I got you." He closes the distance and kisses her.
He moves the rest of the bottles and lifts her up. A squeal he never thought he'd hear comes outta her.
"Holy crap. Do that again"
They laugh together as the bottles becomes forgotten.
