Chapter Text
Jimin was absolutely blasted on the cheap vodka mix that’s sitting in the kitchen in a hopefully clean bowl. She’s having fun grinding against a pretty girl when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turns around and she comes face to face with Kim Chaewon, their sister sorority’s leader. .
The girl Jimin was hoping to have some fun with later alone in her room is now smiling awkwardly looking between the two girls. After Chaewon pretty much growls at her, she decides it’s better to leave. No dick is worth Kim Chaewon’s anger.
“Yu Jimin.” her voice is cold and an underlying venom is seething from her. Jimin looks a bit behind her and she can see a panicked Yunjin trying to tell her something with her hands but it really just looks like she’s jerking off the air.
“Sup, Chaewon?” Jimin’s words are slightly slurred and to her defense she’s been drinking since 2 pm and the moon is out now.
“Did you fuck Kazuha and then ghost her?!” Chaewon is now shouting, and there is a small crowd gathering around them, mumbled whispers all around.
“Uhh, yeah? we hooked up, Chaewon, what’s the big deal?” Jimin is now confused, she remembers, well kind of remembers hooking up with Nakamura Kazuha, but she was fairly wasted to really remember everything. She knows the girl was tight as hell and sexy, nothing much other than those two things remained in her brain from that night.
“You fucking idiot! She’s been pining after you for fucking months and you just used her for her body!” Chaewon is growing visibly irritated now. Jimin feels her stomach drop, she didn’t know Kazuha felt that way about her, she thought it was mutually just a no feelings attached one night stand.
“Chill out, I didn’t know!” Jimin tries to gesture that she’s most definitely not looking for a fight with raising her palms defensively but it only makes Chaewon angrier. Jesus christ this woman, Jimin thinks, Yunjin needs to dick her down better; why is she so stressed?
“You need to chill your fucking small dick!” Jimin’s blood runs cold the moment Chaewon’s words leave her mouth. If there was one thing that ensured no one would try to hook up with her anymore was a rumor about her having a small dick. It was a social murder, especially from someone as popular and influential as Chaewon. She’s most definitely offended, little Jimin is not at all little!
Jimin’s sure that there are people recording their argument, and she knows that in the next few hours every school forum is going to be full of the part where Chaewon shouts that she has a small dick. The crowd’s murmurs around them grow louder and Jimin can hear her heart thumping in her ass from how wasted and scared she is in that moment. This is basically social suicide, any popularity she had, she can kiss it goodbye. She worked quite hard for those brownie points; a six pack doesn’t just keep itself maintained.
She can’t possibly prove her dick is more than average sized without seeming too desperate to clear her name, thus only further playing into the dirty trick Chaewon just pulled on her. The smug smirk on the girl’s face is more than infuriating and she wants nothing more than to slap Chaewon and then cry but she’s in public and she’s also pretty sure Yunjin is stupidly jacked. Instead, she grits her teeth and tries to not throw a tantrum.
“Chaewon that’s not fucking cool, I didn’t fucking know she was emotional like that.” Jimin somehow manages to make her situation worse, the smirk wipes off of Chaewon’s face replaced by a deep frown and Jimin then truly knows she’s fucked.
“Yeah, well she didn’t think you would only last 3 minutes either.” Chaewon’s voice is calm, alarmingly so. Jimin hears several gasps and she wishes she could just yell out that that’s not fucking true at all without looking like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum. Though she doesn’t remember much from the night, but she’s more than sure she lasted more than that. Her average time is like at least an hour of sex.
she closes her eyes, and tries her very best to explode Chaewon with her mind. When she opens them back, Chaewon is still standing in front of her, and the number of flashes aimed at them only duplicated. This is when she decides that she has had fucking enough for one night.
Jimin turns around and leaves Chaewon without a word. It’s better that she misses Chaewon’s smug look like she just won the 2026 World Championship of being a petty bitch. Only if she knew about the mess she just started.
The next morning when she walks through the college’s gates whispers immediately start, people are really not as subtle as they think they are. She can make out words like ‘small dick’, and ‘pre-ejaculator’. Anger fills her senses but she doesn’t act on it, it wouldn’t solve anything and she already played enough into Chaewon’s disgusting hands that jerk certified dummy Yunjin off.
She tries her best to get through her day without acknowledging it but when even one of her professors look at her with pity she gets fed up. Lunch break couldn’t have come sooner; she hurries out of the classroom and into the cafeteria. She makes her way to the basketball team’s self-proclaimed table and most of her friends are already there.
“Sup, lil Jiminie?” Aeri, her best friend starts before Jimin even has the chance to go get herself a tray of whatever rejected prison food they are being fed today. Jimin sighs. A few giggles make their way around the table.
“You all have seen me naked, so you all know that there is nothing little about little Jimin.” Aeri makes a disgusted face, Jimin’s gaze then falls on Yunjin who was trying her best to avoid eye contact with the girl. Inevitably she has to look into Jimin’s eyes and the anger she finds there kind of scares her, she looks away. Jimin scowls at her.
“Real bro behavior, Yunjin, just letting your girl shit all over me in-front of the whole school.” Jimin is pouting and Yunjin can’ t help but feel bad. She would never go against her girlfriend because that would mean she wouldn’t get certain privileges (Chaewon’s pussy) for a while, but still she could have tried to warn Jimin better or sooner about the Chaenado that was coming her way.
“I’m sorry, man, y’know how it is. She’s the boss and I’m only her lowly minion.” Jimin once again scoffs, if she had a girlfriend, she wouldn’t let her take control like this. Yunjin is such a cowardly pussy.
“Not at all cool, bro, not at all” The others watch the exchange with amused eyes. In most of their opinion it was time for Jimin to stop sleeping around before she accidentally got chlamydia or worse.
Aeri sighs. “Just make things even with her or something, eventually people will forget anyways.”
“Firstly, fuck your bitch ass Aeri, secondly and how the fuck am I supposed to make things even? tell people her dick is smaller? NEWS FLASH AERI SHE DOESN’T HAVE A DICK!” Aeri did not appraise that with a response.
“Obviously, dumbass, I meant like spreading a rumor about her.” Aeri rolled her eyes.
“That’s... not a bad idea.” Jimin put her hand on her chin and began thinking.
“Hey!! guys!! I’m still here, Chaewon’s girlfriend?” Yunjin said.
Both Aeri and Jimin just decided to ignore Yunjin’s whines, who after receiving no acknowledgement gave up trying to get their attention.
“I could like, sleep with one of her close friends (again) and brag about it in her face that my- finger quotes- small dick is popular among her friends.” Aeri gave her a disgusted look, but didn’t discourage her. It would be entertaining to see Jimin beaten half to death by Chaewon after she pulls this circus trick out of (or rather in) her pants.
“Her sister is coming to our college next year.” This time both Aeri and Jimin looked at Yunjin, she only murmured under her breath that now they pay attention to her. sluts.
“Is she cute?” Obviously, that’s what Jimin is asking.
“How should I know, dude, I’ve only saw her in, like, childhood pics with Chae.” Yunjin scoffed.
“Yeah, well, was she a cute kid?”
“Fucking gross Jimin! I guess she was.” Yunjin scrunched up her nose at Jimin.
“Hey! If she was a cute kid chances are she’s a fine young lady like her older sis is.” Jimin grinned, now just wanting to tease Yunjin a bit.
Yunjin gasped. “Take my girlfriend’s name out of your dirty mouth, you filthy nympho!”
Aeri and Jimin were scrolling on their phones in the school gym. Jimin was honestly bored out of her mind. The semester was coming to a close, and ever since the accident with Chaewon she hasn’t gone to any parties out of shame.
she spends her days watching Dinosaur documentaries on Netflix and actually studying for the classes she has. Turns out passing her finals isn’t that stressing when she actually tries to understand what their professor is trying to convey.
So now she’s just existing, trying not to die out of boredom.
Then an idea flickers.
“Yo, Aeri, do you still have those big ass speakers?” Aeri looks up from her phone, she was texting her girlfriend and frankly she did not appreciate Jimin talking to her at the moment.
“Yeah.” Jimin doesn’t even flinch at how disinterested she sounds, already used to how Aeri gets when she’s talking with her girlfriend. She’s starting to see a pattern, Aeri, Yunjin, both of them whipped when it comes to their girls.
“Can I borrow them next year?” Aeri furrows her eyebrows. Those speakers are back in her childhood bedroom and frankly it’s a slight pain in the ass to bring them all the way down to their college. The 1,5-hour long car drive is not exactly pleasant.
“Why would I let you borrow my expensive speakers, that are more importantly not even in this city or its vicinity.” Aeri already knew she was going to hear some monstrosity of a bullshit.
“I’ll get Chaewon’s sister to have sex with me, record her praising my skills in bed and then blast it in a party that her own sorority is hosting. Thus, taking my ultimate revenge.” Aeri gave her a disgusted look, but Jimin didn’t care.
“Jimin, every day you prove to be exactly the kind of person I wish for my sister to never meet, but sure I’ll lend you my speakers. You’ll have to pay for the gas money though.” Aeri was continuously frowning as she watched Jimin do a little celebratory dance. What a scumbag, she thought.
Soon after that the semester was over, and summer break came. Yu Jimin went home with one goal in mind, working towards executing the perfect revenge. She hit the gym seven days a week, even when her muscles ached, she pushed through with the single goal in mind that she absolutely needed to dick this girl into another universe. Even if they haven’t even met yet.
To say Minjeong is scared of her first day at college is an understatement. She is rather close to shitting her pants out of pure anxiety. So many people are going and coming around her, not a single one acknowledging her pitiful existence. She thought she could make friends this time unlike in high school!
She really thought it would be like just in movies where a group of pretty faced girls would come to her and they would become the ultimate best friends thorough college. So, there she is now, alone and panicking.
She’s supposed to find her way to auditorium A in building D but she has no damn idea if she’s even at the right university right now! Her palms are uncomfortably sweaty and it’s way too hot for a September day, her shirt is sticking to her back and her jeans feel uncomfortably tight around her legs. Her bangs are stuck to her forehead, and she doesn’t even dare try to fix that mess.
With a sigh, she finally gives up and turns around to find her way to the reception to ask for some help before she misses the dorm assignments. When she turns around, she’s met with something solid, she braces herself for the collision, and yet her forehead is cushioned by two really soft and rather big balls. A pair of steady arms circle her waist to help her keep her balance.
She opens her eyes and has to look up to meet the stranger’s eyes. She has the most captivating brown eyes she has ever seen, and she’s sure that her whole face is on fire now. The girl’s face looks like it was chiseled by God himself, a perfect nose bridge with a jawline that could cut Minjeong’s throat and she would thank her for it. Pretty plump lips with some translucent lip gloss on them. This might very well be love at first sight, because Minjeong is mesmerized.
One of the pretty girl’s pretty eyebrows shot up in a questioning yet amused glance.
“Are you okay? you look a bit red.” Great god, even her voice is panty soak inducing. Minjeong has never been intimate with anyone, she never even kissed anyone but this stranger is lighting her whole body on fire with just her voice. An unfamiliar warmth takes its place in her tummy. Her kitty is definitely screaming and meowing for her.
“I, I’m fine… just a little lost.” Minjeong averts her eye from the intense gaze of the girl in front of her. Her hands are still holding her waist and she is now really aware of how close they are to each other.
“What’s your name, pretty girl?” God, did she just call her pretty? Minjeong might have been trampled to death and now this girl before her is actually an angel. Her face is certainly heavenly.
“Minjeong.” She said like she’s in a daze. Damn it! she should have been smoother with it. She needs to somehow make herself look good in-front of her wet dream come to life and personified.
“Pretty name, I’m Jimin. Which briefing auditorium have you been assigned to?” Minjeong tries her best not to physically swoon from this girl, but its only getting harder and harder with every word that leaves her mouth.
“Auditorium A in building D...” Jimin smiles at her. Her theory of the girl being an angel is only being proven further along.
“I’ll show you the way, I remember what a nervous mess I was on my first day.” Jimin places a guiding hand on Minjeong’s lower back and starts leading them further into the university’s yard. Great god, Father of Jesus, Minjeong might not make it through her first day if Jimin keeps on being this close to her.
All the things Minjeong found out about the mysterious and charming senior while she escorted her to the right place are all relatively general things.
Jimin is only a year older than her, and she plays basketball for the school’s team. She’s a business major and she’s single (Minjeong didn’t dare ask, the girl told her out of nowhere). She’s also staying in the university dorms, and she hopes that Minjeong will be somewhere near her room.
Minjeong likes how easy it was to talk to the girl after her initial shyness crumbled away. Jimin was kind to her but she really, really was a tease at the same time. Grasping every opportunity to make flirty remarks and make Minjeong blush.
“We’re here, puppy.” Jimin smirked at the redness of Minjeong’s neck.
“I’m not a puppy! if anything you’re the dog…” Minjeong said with a scoff. Jimin has been buttering her up so much, that she’s more than sure the girl wants something from her, no one is this charming without wanting something. Well, the girl is pretty, and Minjeong is attracted to her so maybe she’s open to having a few dates with Jimin. But still whatever.
Jimin didn’t stay long after they arrived, but she did give Minjeong her Instagram username. Once she gets to her dorm, she most definitely will do a deep dive on the girl. Even if she’s pretty Minjeong’s standards are high in the sky and she won’t give her heart to just anyone. In her heart she truly hopes the girl isn’t, like, a fratbro or community whore, or something along those lines.
The auditorium was quite packed, but there were a few empty spaces left in the back. Minjeong to her best ability made her way to one of the seats, and sat down. on her left was no one, and on her right was a foreign looking girl. Maybe Chinese, but she wasn’t too sure about it.
Minjeong stared at the girl who seemed to be just as nervous as she was a few minutes ago, before Jimin appeared like a prince dressed in baggy jeans and a Prada t-shirt and rescued her. This was her moment to make it or break it she thought, the worst things she could do is ignore Minjeong, but her mood won’t go sour today no matter what happens. A certain girl is to be thanked for that.
“Hey, I’m Kim Minjeong, what’s your name?” Minjeong showed all 32 of her pearly whites. Coming off maybe a little too strongly. Not that the girl beside her wasn’t just absolutely overjoyed that a normal looking girl was finally talking to her.
The thing is that her girlfriend who’s a year older than her goes to this university, and she did maybe a bit too good of a job warning her about all the weird and creepy people that go there (Yu Jimin for example).
“Ning Yizhuo, have you found out who is your roommate?” Ning asked.
“Hmm, I haven’t, I think I’m going to go after this is over. Do you want to tag along with me?” Minjeong was trying to be subtle, she didn’t want to scare away the girl that very possibly might just become her first real adult friend.
“I would love to! unless you want something else from me…” Ning shielded her chest while looking at Minjeong with warry eyes, who couldn’t help but be absolutely baffled from the girl’s reaction.
Did she look like that much of a creep?!
“What?! I just want to be your friend! Do I look that weird?” Minjeong asked with a dejected puppy look on her face.
“No! just… my girlfriend warned me that I should be careful with everyone in this place” Ning lowered her voice “Apparently a whole lot of seniors prey on the newbies to take them to bed”
A familiar brown-haired girl flashed in Minjeong’s mind, but surely Jimin’s different... right?
“Oh… Well, you don’t have to be worried about me. I’m waiting until marriage.” Minjeong innocently said, and Yizhuo physically recoiled.
“God, you’re even worse! You’re one of those weird religious weirdos!” Okay, now Yizhuo was just hurting Minjeong’s ego. She needs to stop saying weird so much!
“Stop! I’m just scared of losing my virginity and regretting it. Can you, like, stop accusing me of stuff.” Minjeong’s brows settled into a deep frown. This is what she gets for trying to make friends she thought. Some Chinese girl accusing her of wanting something more, or that she’s trying to recruit her to her cult.
Minjeong only ever almost joined a cult! And it was only because a really pretty girl was inviting her in. She didn’t join because she found out the girl had a husband and two kids.
She’s completely normal, maybe a little nerdy with her computer science stuff. That’s not a crime though.
“I’m sorry… I’m just really scared. This is my first time alone in Korea, I’m from China and until now I was an exchange student in Japan.” Yizhuo had a guilty look on her face. She had no bad intentions accusing Minjeong of stuff, she was just really scared of getting scammed, or worse being taken advantage of.
Her girlfriend told her about a really vicious senior who doesn’t care about feelings and leaves every girl only after one night, who’s only nice until she hits and then ghosts. Goddamn dine and dasher. With an evil being like that walking around campus, how could Yizhuo ever let her guard down? But Minjeong looks and talks like a harmless puppy, maybe she should cut the girl some slack.
“It’s fine honestly, make up for it by inviting me for coffee?” Minjeong flashed the girl a small smile, a whole lot more genuine this time.
“I would love to! What’s your major?” Yizhuo took her phone out of her pocket and extended it towards Minjeong, who did the same. Their phones flashed with and now they both had each other’s contact information.
The briefing didn’t really tell them anything they didn’t already know from the brochure the school gave out at the entrance. They are now sitting at a caffe nearby. Minjeong so far found out that Yizhuo is dating Aeri, one of their seniors, she’s a Bachelor of Music major (whatever that means) and her family is filthy rich.
“Have you talked to any others at the university, Minjeongie (Yizhuo gave her the nickname, and no matter how much she protested against it the girl didn’t let it go).” She said after taking a sip of her glorified coffee, that was mostly syrups and milk. Minjeong ordered herself an americano.
“A pretty senior showed me the way to the auditorium and we talked a little…” Minjeong got a little bashful after the words left her mouth, even just remembering Jimin was enough to make her heartbeat take up a notch.
Yizhuo looked at her with concern. “You should be careful, y’know I wasn’t baselessly scared.”
“I know, my sister told me similar things about assholes at this university, but this senior was really pretty and kind.” Minjeong sighed dreamily. “I don’t think an angel like her can have bad intentions.”
Yizhuo looked at her skeptically. To her it looked like Minjeong was already hypnotized by some bitchy siren’s call. She needed to save her newly found friend from being eaten alive by a dirty mutt.
“Do you know her name? maybe we can find her insta.” Minjeong then remembered that Jimin actually gave her, her username. Now she could prove to Yizhuo that the girl wasn’t any trouble.
“Actually…” And then Minjeong recounted their whole encounter, from Jimin holding her to stop her from falling, to her giving her Instagram account.
After Minjeong pulled her chair closer to Yizhuo with a deathly screech so they would be sitting side by side, Yizhuo was writing in Jimin’s user to see who this girl really was. What they found shocked the both of them to their cores.
“Minjeong… She’s not just a fratbro… she’s THE fratbro.” Jimin’s Instagram was exactly what the stereotypical fuckboy’s Instagram was. Pictures of her in slacks and just a sport bra posing in front of a bathroom mirror showing off her perfect six pack and slightly toned biceps, with the flash on and the lights off, a caption that read ‘Call me amazon because I’m in my prime’.
Minjeong was safe to say absolutely speechless. Jimin was everything she wanted to avoid encountering in college. There were numerous pictures of her in parties drunk out of her mind, for god’s sake there was a video where she took a shot from in between a girl’s boobs! The further down they scrolled the more Minjeong felt sick to her stomach.
Another picture of Jimin, surrounded by four pretty girls, two each clinging to her arms. Several kiss marks along her body, captioned “Never played tag because I knew I was it”. Minjeong’s heart stopped for a second when she thought about just how close she was to letting herself indulge in the older girl, she almost asked her on a date...
Yu Jimin wasn’t just trouble, she was danger.
Later when they walked back to the dorms, it turned out that Minjeong and Yizhuo were actually assigned to each other as roommates. Minjeong thought that at least the day is ending on a positive note, even if her prince charming turned out to be a whore whose dick was probably radioactive.
Jimin has given up on her revenge plan, because she just met the cutest puppiest girl on this round earth. She was just way too cute for Jimin to not have her. If the constant pretty blush along the girl’s skin was any indication, Jimin’s got a decent chance at bagging her first actual girlfriend.
Though, Minjeong still hasn’t sent her a friend request on insta, which is kind of weird since Jimin knows she didn’t miss it. She’s been obsessively checking and refreshing her page every few hours. Just remembering the girl’s shy smile is enough to put her at ease though, maybe she’s just shy and gathering courage.
Jimin knew she was fucked the moment the puppy like girl turned out to have a tiny bit of bite to her barking. So adorable and sassy, but still so sweet. Jimin was safe to say ruined.
She let out another dreamy sigh and Aeri had enough of her weird ass staring into nothing and sighing like she was in love.
“Okay, what the fuck is up with you, dude.” Jimin looked at Aeri, her eyes full of an emotion that she never saw from her before.
“I met a girl… one of the freshmen, she’s everything, Aeri! you should have seen her big puppy eyes full of nervousness. I was bewitched.” Jimin was looking… sappy? Aeri was getting concerned for the girl’s wellbeing, maybe all that forced celibacy was getting to her brain and turning it into mush.
“Wow, I don’t even have words for that, Jimin, I think you just want to stick your meat in her.” Aeri said, with a skeptical look on her face.
“That might be true, but I also want to take her on dates and spoil her.” Jimin scoffed. Aeri sighed, this dumbass is only bringing problems into her life. Why are they best friends again?
“Whatever you say, nympho, I want to introduce you to my girlfriend later. Are you free tonight?” Aeri’s eyes softened for a moment. Jimin knew that look, she was going to start saying corny stuff about how much her girlfriend means to her, and how they are just perfect for each other. God knows she can’t sit through that again, especially not sober.
“I am free and send me a text later, my good friend, but I have to, uh, go to my next class.” Jimin got up fast without even saying a proper goodbye to Aeri, and waved her goodbye. She quickly made her way out of the library and then turned to walk towards her next class.
Jimin had a slight skip in her step, she didn’t know it was this much fun having a crush. If she knew sooner, she would have tried to like someone way before, like 6 girls before. Maybe then Chaewon wouldn’t have pulled that dirty, dirty move.
grr, Jimin growled inwardly, stupid Chaewon.
She came to a halt when she saw a familiar head of blonde hair. Minjeong! Maybe she could just ask the girl for her username, and then she would make all the moves that needed to be made. She made her way to the unassuming girl, and tapped her on her shoulder gently.
Minjeong turned around, and her face was overtaken by surprise, and slight disgust, but it was gone the moment Jimin saw it.
“Minjeong-ah, you didn’t text.” Jimin said, frowning a little. Minjeong looked around nervously, most likely looking for an exit.
“Uhm, I have been really busy, Unnie” Minjeong wasn’t even looking into her eyes as she said it. She’s a terrible liar. Jimin’s brows furrowed.
“Then let me take you on a relaxing trip to the school cafeteria?” Jimin’s eyes were stupidly hopeful. This might have been the first time she made moves on a girl without any ulterior motives behind her words. If Minjeong was telling the truth, she wanted to make sure the girl ate a proper nutritional lunch, and she has long mastered what’s good and what’s barely edible on the menu.
Minjeong looked away from Jimin’s hopeful eyes, finding it hard to reject the girl eye to eye. Right now, she didn’t look like the pussy hungry monster she actually was. “I’m sorry, Unnie, maybe some other time?” Jimin felt a crushing disappointment weigh down on her shoulders. Well, it can’t be helped, she still could at least get Minjeong’s insta.
“It’s okay, Minjeong-ah, you can make it up to me by telling me your insta.” Minjeong chewed on her lips for a second before taking out a piece of paper from her backpack along with a pen. She scribbled something on it, thrusted it into Jimin’s hand and then hurriedly left. She just couldn’t leave stupid Jimin so sad with her stupid pretty eyes.
Jimin looked down at it. “kmj111”.
For the rest of the day Jimin was on lookout for the younger girl, hoping to talk to her just a little more, but it feels like every time she sees the blonde girl she suddenly disappears. It’s honestly starting to feel like Minjeong is avoiding her on purpose.
Jimin brushes it off, maybe she’s just overthinking it. Well, she’ll think about it more later. Right now she needed to get ready for dinner with Aeri and her girlfriend, she has long dressed up in comfortably baggy jeans and a button up that was just barely not clinging to her body. If she strained her muscles or moved in certain angles, all of her hard-earned muscles were on show.
She just needed to push down all the disgust she had for the happy couple, not that she has anything against couples. It’s just that Aeri has been telling her way too many things about their relationship, and she has no business knowing what Aeri’s girlfriend’s favorite position is.
She looked at herself for one last time in the mirror, she looked pretty just like every other day. She finally got up from in front of her vanity mirror and made her way to the door.
Aeri and her girlfriend were already at the restaurant, and she was going to meet them there. She was driving, since she wasn’t planning on drinking more than one glass of wine. It wouldn’t be a good look in front of her best friend’s girlfriend to get shit faced drunk on their first meeting, and for some weird reason it was important to her that Aeri’s girlfriend approved of her. Maybe because Aeri has been her only real friend since middle school.
The moment she started hitting puberty and she prettied out of her ugly duckling shell; people have only seen her for her good looks. She never dwelled on it much, since she used her looks to her own advantage, but late at night when she was alone in bed sometimes it stinged.
She arrived a few minutes late, traffic was a nightmare and she almost got into a fight with the slow ass driver in front of her in line. She ran inside, hurriedly telling the hostess Aeri’s name. The lady at the front smiled at her, maybe a little too friendly but Jimin paid no attention to it. Since her meeting with Minjeong, no one else has been able to catch her eye.
Her appearance was a bit disheveled from all the hurrying she just did. When she sees a familiar head of pink hair she visibly relaxes. She drops her shoulders and a friendly smile makes its way to her face. Time to make her best impressions on the girl that has captured her best friend’s heart.
She sees two other girls sitting at the table with Aeri, the one Aeri is holding hands with she assumes is Yizhuo, unless Aeri has been getting it on with two girls but she doubts that. Aeri was really disgusted by her when she had a threesome, so that’s an unlikely option.
Nonetheless, Jimin makes her way to the table, and sits down beside the other girl. Before she can introduce herself, shock takes over her expression. The blonde girl sitting with them is no one other than Minjeong. Soon to be Jimin’s Minjeong.
Like a fish out of water, Jimin can’t say anything. She’s happy, but at the same time kind of scared about what this means for her and the girl. She just hopes Aeri hasn’t said too much about her while she was late.
Aeri’s voice snaps her out of her daze. “Jimin? Are you with us?” Jimin looks away from Minjeong who is sporting a similarly shocked expression on her face. Yizhuo is staring daggers at her and she has no idea why.
“Uh, yeah, sorry that I’m late. Traffic was a nightmare, I’m Yu Jimin, Aeri’s only friend.” Jimin tried to lighten the suddenly stale mood. Aeri didn’t particularly comment on what she said, it was true enough.
Jimin’s assumption was correct, the girl beside Aeri is her girlfriend, Ning Yizhuo. She made an off-mark comment about people not being able to keep it in their pants but Jimin didn’t really catch that it was targeted towards her. Aeri could only raise an eyebrow at it.
Minjeong introduced herself as if she didn’t know who Jimin was, this soured her mood a little. She was Yizhuo’s roommate and friend as it came out, what a small world Jimin thought.
Jimin tried her best to get into Ning’s best graces any way she could. Aeri tried her best to assist her but it seemed that the girl held a rather strong grudge against her. Jimin against her own judgement ended up ordering more drinks than she originally planned to. Yizhuo was not at all trying to get to know her, or ease up, and she was rejecting any olive branch Jimin held out.
Minjeong was much worse and more painful. She acted as if she had no idea who Jimin was, and anytime Jimin tried to talk to her, or involve her in the conversation she only said a few words and then went back to ignoring Jimin.
She was most certainly devastated, and Aeri picked up on her declining mood. Her jokes were stirring towards a self-deprecating path. Aeri hated whenever Jimin got like that, like she wasn’t much. It reminded her of just how insecure Jimin is deep down.
“Jimin, can you help me with something in the bathroom?” Aeri asked.
Jimin’s brows creased. “I won’t hold your dick for you.” Jimin was maybe more than just tipsy. This restaurant had really strong Calimocho, she thought.
Aeri sighed. “Just come with me.” Aeri excused herself from a Yizhuo with a kiss to her cheek and whispered words. Jimin scoffed at the blatant sweetness. She followed Aeri to the bathroom, her world was slightly swaying. Definitely not a good sign.
“Why does Yizhuo look at you like your wronged her whole bloodline?” Aeri got right to the point. Jimin’s already present frown deepened.
“I have no idea, dude, this is the first time I have ever seen her” There was a slight slur to her words, Aeri frowned. This night was going towards a terrible outcome, Jimin never took it well when people didn’t immediately like her.
“Jesus, what about Minjeong?” The sad look that flashed in Jimin’s eyes was everything Aeri needed to decipher what was going on. “Fuck, Jimin, did you dine and dash Yizhuo’s friend?”
Jimin was quick to defend herself. “What the fuck! No, she’s the girl I told you about, the freshman with puppy eyes.” Jimin got sad just thinking about how cold the girl has been towards her all night long.
Aeri’s expression changed to surprised. “Huh, well she didn’t seem all that charmed to me. Are you sure it’s the same girl?”
“Pff, what kind of person do you take me for, Aeri.” Jimin said, her frown wasn’t easing up. Aeri sensed trouble, if things continued like this Jimin would either get pissed and dramatically leave or worse, demand explanation from the girl right in front of everyone. Aeri sighed, why did she think that she could just peacefully have dinner with the two most important people in her life.
Aeri didn’t say anything, pushing Jimin even further would do neither of them any good. This little intervention didn’t do anything, and Jimin now feels wronged. She never did anything for Minjeong to be acting so cold towards her, she treated the girl better than she had any previous fling. She was Yu Jimin for god’s sake, she didn’t need to be kind for girls to be lining up in front of her door.
Aeri patted Jimin’s back and they went back out. Yizhuo was still scowling at Jimin, but Minjeong sat with a guilty expression on her face. Jimin was getting more and more dizzy, the wine and colas were starting to seriously hit. Fuck, wine makes her emotional as hell.
Stupid pretty Minjeong was looking at her with her big brown puppy eyes, and all Jimin wanted to do was cradle her face and press a kiss on her pouty lips. Jimin furrowed her brows in faux anger. Minjeong only pouted harder at this.
During the time Aeri and Jimin were in the bathroom, she questioned it if acting like this towards Jimin was the correct thing to do. The girl hasn’t been inappropriate with her ever, and the whole night she never brought up anything about sex. Was Jimin really a fuckgirl or was that her evil twin parading around?
Minjeong couldn’t help but admire the older girl’s side profile. Pretty plump lips glistening from her lip gloss, her eyes big and predatory from the eye makeup she put on, her messy wolfcut framing it all together in a beautiful picture. Jimin looked ethereal sitting under the restaurant’s dim lighting, she was straight out of a movie. Minjeong wondered if she searched hard enough would she find an adult movie starring Jimin.
Aeri pushed the conversation forward but it was to no vail, Jimin’s sad eyes were focused on her plate, Yizhuo was glaring at Minjeong who was giving Jimin the heart eyes now. It was no use by this point, Jimin was too busy sulking to notice.
Jimin glanced at her watch, it was 9 pm. If she left now she could say she had a presentation that she needed to prepare for and not seem rude in front of Aeri’s girlfriend and Minjeong. Even though the two girls have been less than welcoming to her tonight, she still found it important to keep up her polite front. Not for them, but for her best friend.
Her long fingers glimmered in the light as she threw her napkin on her plate with a small movement. Minjeong was captivated by how well taken care of Jimin’s hands were. Long pretty fingers with trimmed shining nails, she wondered how they would feel preparing her, stretching her out for something bigger… She looked away with a blush. Yizhuo kicked her leg under the table when she noticed.
“I need to go; I have school work to do.” Jimin said, and she could swear she heard Yizhuo mumble under her breath ‘So whores call it school work now…’. “It was nice meeting you, Yizhuo, you as well, Minjeong. See you later, Aeri.”
Aeri looked at her best friend with sadness in her eyes, Jimin never said goodbye so politely unless she felt the need to be detached. “I’ll walk her out; I’ll be back babe” Aeri kissed Yizhuo’s cheek and left with Jimin.
Minjeong sighed as she watched the older girl’s retreating back. “I think we were too rude towards her, Yizhuo.”
She raised an eyebrow. “And you think she was nice to all the girls she took to bed?”
Minjeong sighed. “Does it really matter? She’s only ever been nice to me, to us.”
“Jesus, Minjeong, she hasn’t even dicked you down yet and you’re already too whipped! That naïve thinking is what gets you screwed over by people like her.” Yizhuo scoffed.
“I’m going to give her a chance, Yizhuo.” Minjeong blushed. “As friends, just friends.”
Yizhuo raised both of her eyebrows at Minjeong, was this girl being real right now? “Minjeong, you’re batshit crazy if you think you can resist her. You’re gonna end up being a name in her long list of conquests.”
Minjeong wasn’t going to let it go like this, Jimin is nicer than Yizhuo makes her seem. The girl was trying the whole night to crack the ice and all they did was reject it all without trying. She feels terrible for treating her like this, Jimin doesn’t feel like the kind of person that would trick her, or force her into anything she didn’t want.
“Whatever, I’m going after her and apologizing.” Minjeong stood up and went after Jimin before Yizhuo even had a chance to protest against it.
On her way out she saw Aeri coming back in, and it filled her with panic that she’s too late and Jimin is already gone. Aeri was shocked to see her, but immediately understood and just pointed at the other side of the glass door where Jimin stood smoking a cigarette.
Minjeong bowed her head in thanks, and stopped in front of the door for a second. Her hand was on the handle when she saw a girl around their age approach Jimin. Minjeong’s heart sank for some reason, even though she only wanted to befriend the girl after the things she found out, it still hurt her to see someone else be interested in Jimin.
She was about to turn around when she saw Jimin reject the girl with a nonchalant expression, from what Minjeong saw the girl grew agitated, cussed her out and then left. Jimin didn’t even look at the girl as she stomped away, just continued smoking while gazing into nothing.
Minjeong finally opened the door and stepped out. Jimin’s head turned, and Minjeong saw a whole array of emotions flash through her face. Surprise, hurt, detachment.
Minjeong made her way beside Jimin, it was kind of cold now that the sun went down. She rubbed her arms up and down in hopes of warming up a bit. “Hey.” Her voice was almost small with the sound of the cars passing by in front of them.
“What are you doing here, Minjeong?” Jimin’s voice was clipped, she made no move closer or further away from her, but Minjeong saw the small twitch of her brow when she saw that she was shivering from the cold.
“I want to say sorry for how I behaved today, I know it doesn’t excuse it, but I saw your Instagram and I thought you were just trying to get me into your bed when you were nice to me on my first day.” Minjeong was almost rambling, her cheeks red from embarrassment but it was all worth it because Jimin was finally looking at her.
Jimin sighed, she completely forgot about what her page looked like. She hasn’t even been with anyone in months, but she can’t just say that to Minjeong can she. She even understands the girl, Jimin was trying to get in her pants just not in the way she thinks. Rather than a one-time thing, an eventual kind of thing that would have happened.
Jimin feels quite disappointed, she really took a liking to Minjeong. But what cannot be helped, just simply cannot be helped. “It’s fine, I understand.” Jimin took a deep breath, dropped the cigarette and stomped it out with the sole of her shoe. She felt a bit sobered up now, she took a good look at Minjeong. She was still standing beside her, shivering from the night chills.
Jimin took of her jacket, and draped it over the girl’s shoulders. It was obvious she wanted to say more, but Jimin was still emotional from the wine and she just wanted to sleep it off by this point. Jimin was about to turn around and leave when Minjeong’s hand shot out and grabbed her wrist.
“Wait! Can we try this again? Have coffee with me tomorrow? I’d like to be your friend.” Minjeong’s hopeful eyes stared into Jimin’s tired ones. The older girl knew she stood no chance against those puppy eyes and that pouty lip.
She could totally do just friends.
“That sounds nice, you know where to text me.” Minjeong let Jimin’s wrist go, her face slightly tinted with a blush for a reason other than the cold. Jimin’s jacket was still warm from her body, her perfume stubbornly clinging onto the fabric. It felt like Minjeong was surrounded by the older girl, it emitted feelings from her that she has never felt before. An unfamiliar twist in her chest as she watched Jimin go.
Their friendly coffee date goes more than well. Jimin finds out that Minjeong loves sharks, and Jimin shares her passion about sea creatures and dinosaurs. Minjeong tells her about all the fears she has about disappointing her parents by failing college, and Jimin tells her about her similar woes.
They become more than just strangers, but friends doesn’t quite capture what they are. Anyone with eyes can see the way they look at each other is anything but friendly. Jimin is currently walking Minjeong to her dorm, it turned out that they are in completely different buildings. Though just a five-minute walk away from each other.
“Yeah, and then my sister went full hulk and body slammed our cousin into the couch.” Minjeong’s giggle echoed through the empty street, the sun was just beginning to go down. It cast an orange glow over their moving bodies, their shadows playing on the ground.
“She sounds similar to my sister” Minjeong said, and then tucked a piece of unruly hair behind her ear. Jimin was fun, more than fun actually. The girl was so attentive when it came to her, and no one outside of her family has been so caring towards her. The older girl even insisted on paying for the both of them, no matter how much Minjeong refused.
“Maybe we could let the two of them meet sometime, like a pet playdate.” Jimin chuckled. Minjeong loved the sound of her joy, it filled her own chest with warmth.
“Let the strongest live?” Minjeong teased. Their conversation flew flawlessly, and even when it was quiet between them it didn’t feel awkward. Minjeong felt thankful that she didn’t let her own prejudice destroy their connection before it even had a chance to bloom.
Their walk continued like this, with the two of them sharing stories about themselves, their family, about their view on the world. Minjeong has never felt it to be this easy to talk to anyone in her whole life. She’s always been the quiet one, the introvert that kept to herself. She never had more than just a few friends, and even then, they were more of her sister’s friends than her own. She always felt just fine in her own little world, but now she wanted to expand that space to Jimin.
The older girl just made her feel understood, no matter what Minjeong shared she didn’t look bored, or forced to be there. She listened without judgement and gave her honest opinions and views on the topic. It felt like a fresh breath of air to her.
Jimin also shared a fair bit of her life, and Minjeong began to think that Jimin was more than just what she was on her Instagram page. That maybe parties and sleeping with girls wasn’t all that she did. She told her about basketball, and how at first, she didn’t take the sport seriously, but after experiencing the team’s first win she became addicted and dedicated to the sport.
They arrived in front of the building. Jimin looked at Minjeong with a shy expression.
“Can I, uhm, hug you as a goodbye?” The older girl’s cheeks were adorably red, and Minjeong didn’t feel uncomfortable with the thought of hugging the girl. If anything, she felt the opposite.
“Come here, Unnie.” Minjeong spread her arms inviting her in. Jimin hesitated for a second before engulfing Minjeong in a big hug. It didn’t take long for Minjeong to relax into the older girl’s arms. She was warm, and whatever perfume Jimin used it was really nice. Carrying a hint of sandalwood and pine.
One of Jimin’s hands made its way to the back of Minjeong’s head, further pressing their bodies together. Jimin turned her head, taking a deep breath of Minjeong’s citrusy shampoo. She had to lean her head down a little to make up for their height difference. They matched each other like two missing puzzle pieces, just waiting to be connected.
Minjeong doesn’t know how long they stayed there just hugging, but she was starting to get sleepy from how warm Jimin was. It felt rather comforting to her. She never liked physical affection, but Jimin seems to be an exception to that.
Inevitably they have to say goodbye to each other. Jimin watches Minjeong go into the building and only then does she turn around and start making her way towards her own dorm.
The next time they meet is not long after, Minjeong is with Ning, and Jimin is with her group of friends going down the hall. Minjeong realizes then just how popular the older girl is. She’s fleetingly greeting people as they make their way through the sea of people, all while being center attention of her inner circle.
Jimin looks beautiful like this. In the middle of everybody’s attention, with her smile bright and her eyes shining with mischief. Minjeong’s heart does a traitorous little throb at the sight, and she wills it to start its normal routine again. When she notices Minjeong her expression visibly brightens. Her teeth show and she enthusiastically waves at her, Minjeong a little dazed waves back. She pays no attention to Yizhuo scoffing beside her, searching for her gf only to find no sign of her in the group that is now approaching them rather fast.
“Minjeong-ah.” Jimin’s voice is deep, a little raspy. Minjeong wonders if it’s from a soon approaching cold or if the girl took somebody to her bed last night. The thought makes something uncomfortable twist in her chest. “How are you settling in?”
“It’s going fine, Unnie.” Minjeong’s eyes finally dart away from Jimin and she notices the curious gazes targeted towards her. All the unwanted attention is making her uncomfortable and nervous, her gaze shifts to the floor.
Jimin’s brows furrow for a second before they smooth out. “Hey, uh, I’ll go after you guys a little bit later, so, like, go, like right now go away.” Jimin briefly turns to her friends, making gestures with her hands to truly get the message across. Minjeong sees a tall girl with bulky glasses smirk at her, she seems a little familiar but she can’t quite put her finger from where.
Jimin does a weird little bro hug with some of them and they all leave. Somehow, it’s even more awkward with just Jimin there. Yizhuo is about to say something but Minjeong cuts her off before she has the chance.
“Jimin unnie, the aquarium nearby is gonna open soon, would you like to go with me?” Minjeong wasn’t planning on asking her to go with her, but she had to say something before Yizhuo said something presumptuous and broke all the bonding they did with their platonic coffee date.
Jimin’s cheeks reddened a little. “I’d love that, Minjeong-ah.” Jimin’s gaze softened even further, it was hard not to misunderstand it. If Minjeong didn’t know better she would think the older girl had a crush on her or something.
“Great!” She grabbed Yizhuo’s arms, Jimin’s gaze flickered there for a moment before looking into her eyes again. “I’ll text you the details later, take care!”
Jimin didn’t have a chance to reply, because Minjeong dragged Yizhuo away with an admirable speed. The girl could totally join the track team if she could run this fast, Jimin thought. For the rest of they day Jimin had a skip in her step and a dopey smile on her face. When her friends asked about it, she only flipped them off. There was no way in hell she was going to let her vulture friends know about her budding relationship (friendship) with Minjeong. The only thing that annoyed her was that stupidly smug look on Yunjin’s face. She didn’t even want to know what that sleaze was thinking about.
Minjeong’s day went much worse after her little interaction with Jimin. Several girls stopped her in the hallway to warn her about Jimin and how cruel she was. Telling her weeping tales of naïve girl’s who thought they could change her cold heart only to be left as one-night stands.
No matter how sincerely she told them that they were just friends, the girl’s only looked at her with the same pitied expression. The most annoying part of it all was the I told you so look on Yizhuo’s face and her smug side eyes. Minjeong was going to prove them all wrong by not sleeping with Jimin, no matter how alluring she is.
Later that night she texted Jimin.
KMJ111
Unnie, is Friday afternoon
good for you?
10:25
Minjeong didn’t even have the chance to put her phone down before Jimin replied.
yjiminie4
I’m always available for you
Minjeong-ah.
10:26
KMJ111
I bet you say that to
every girl you text
10:28
yjiminie4
I’m wounded by your accusation
you’re the only girl I talk to
10:29
The worst part was that Jimin was whole heartedly being honest. Between Chaewon’s humiliation and her obsessive workout routine she had zero game in the last few months. Minjeong was the only girl she was talking to, since she refused to acknowledge her friends as girls.
No matter how much Jimin stared at her screen, Minjeong’s reply didn’t arrive. A cold sense of disappointment crashed through Jimin’s chest. Minjeong was a confusing person, one moment she was soft and teasing then the next she was cold and snarky. In the end Jimin fell asleep with her phone clutched in her hands.
Friday came earlier than Minjeong was ready for, after Jimin’s ambiguous text they didn’t talk at all. Well, not for the lack of Jimin trying, Minjeong was just really good at avoiding the older girl’s attempts at connecting.
Minjeong was waiting in front of her dorm building, Jimin told her that she was going to pick her up. Minjeong is dressed in her prettiest blue dress, totally not because Jimin’s favorite color is blue, it just happened to be clean. She totally didn’t spend two hours getting ready for her totally platonic hangout labeled as a date.
Jimin pulls up in a sleek black sedan, Minjeong doesn’t know much about cars but she can tell it’s expensive if the leather interior and the big screen is anything to go by.
Jimin gets out of the car, she’s dressed in a simple black trouser and a white dress shirt. Minjeong can’t help but ogle how snugly it fits her. She looks delicious that’s for sure. For a long moment Jimin doesn’t say anything but look her up and down, Minjeong thinks her mind is playing games on her when she sees her pupils dilate in real time.
Totally platonic date that’s more of a hangout than anything, yeah, for sure. She can already her Ningning whining to her about how much of a bad decision this is, and she can even hear her own voice telling her she shouldn’t, but when Jimin looks at her with those deep brown eyes full of adoration she lets herself fall just a little.
As much of a cliché it is, Minjeong feels her heart flutter when Jimin opens the door for her and gently guides her in while holding the small of her back. The lingering sensation of her hand stays with her long after Jimin starts the car.
“You look, uhm, really pretty” Minjeong is taken aback by how red the tips of Jimin’s ears are. She’s almost sure her own could rival them. Minjeong can’t help but gawk at how handsome Jimin looks while driving. She’s a treat for the eyes that’s for sure.
“Thank you…” God, she didn’t mean to sound so shy but Jimin’s voice was so deep and husky... The rest of the ride to the aquarium went by in silence. Minjeong kept stealing glances at Jimin when she was focused on the road, and Jimin kept on trying to hide just how sweaty her hands were getting on the wheel.
Much to Minjeong’s dismay Jimin is an absolute sweetheart. So far into their little date, yes, she acknowledges it as a date now, she’s been nothing but caring and attentive to every little one of Minjeong’s whims.
When she was feeling slightly cold from the lowered temperature inside, Jimin immediately noticed and draped her jacket over her shoulders. It did in fact smell like lavenders and dreams, Minjeong has to ask her later what detergent she uses because its honestly addicting.
Jimin’s been going on and on about the connection between dinosaurs and the current sea life, how some of them evolved to get out of the water and some of them evolved to go back to the water, how it affected them when the big meteor hit. Minjeong can’t tear her gaze away from Jimin as she rambles about her deep knowledge in all things dinosaurs.
Minjeong hates to admit it, but she finds Jimin incredibly adorable right now. Nothing like the heartless fratgirl she made her out to be in her head.
Their night was coming to its highlight, Jimin made a few calls and they would have the shark section all to themselves for a whole hour. Minjeong knew Jimin was most likely well off, but this truly drove home that Jimin was in fact a trust fund baby.
They were laying on a blanket, in the middle of the empty auditorium, surrounded by sharks and their dinner. It was a breathtaking sight, blue alighting the whole room. Jimin was so close to her, that if she moved just a little to her left, their shoulders would touch. If she focused enough, she could hear the older girl’s breathing, a steady rhythm of in and out.
Minjeong found herself looking at Jimin more than she was looking at the sharks devouring the small fish that surrounded them. The older girl has been nothing but patient with her, she could trust her a little and stretch out an olive branch. Though the silence that enveloped them wasn’t all that bad either.
“Let’s play 20 questions, unnie.” Minjeong finally looks back to the sharks, afraid of being caught staring at the older girl.
Jimin makes an affirmative hum, her eyes not once leaving the sharks. After a minute she’s the one to start the game.
“Are you single, Minjeong-ah?” Minjeong snorted, of course she was going to ask something like this.
“I am single,” Minjeong hesitates for a moment before asking. “Are you, unnie?”
Jimin huffs. “I always have been single, Jeongie.” Minjeong makes a sound of surprise, her mouth forming a small ‘o’ shape even though Jimin is still looking at the sharks.
Minjeong doesn’t know if she should ask this, “What do you want from me, Jimin unnie?”
Now this makes Jimin look away from the sharks, looking into Minjeong’s already awaiting eyes. Jimin’s eyes are brimming with held back affection, the answer is obvious without her even saying it.
“Hm…” Jimin actually looks like she’s thinking about what to say, and it honestly makes Minjeong a little nervous. “Well, I always wanted a puppy, and you’re so much like one, Minjeong-ah!”
Minjeong’s face immediately scrunches up, this isn’t the first time someone has compared her to a puppy. Most people say she looks like an angry maltase with her hair bleached blond.
“Not funny! Super unoriginal, I expected better from you.” Minjeong is now pouting, Jimin can’t help but smile at how adorable the younger girl is. How can so much cuteness possibly fit in such a tiny body? She honestly doesn’t know.
“I like you, Minjeong-ah, if I wasn’t obvious enough about it, this is a date” Jimin’s eyes don’t waver as she makes her declaration. Minjeong searches for an ulterior motive behind her big sparkly brown eyes but she finds nothing but adoration.
Jimin barely even knows her, how can she say she likes her?
Minjeong opts to not say anything to that, but she turns back to watch the sharks. She thinks if she stares into Jimin’s stupid eyes for one more minute she might say something dumb like she wants to try dating her or something. Or that she feels the same way, that no matter how much she tries to deny herself of having feelings for her she can’t help but fall little by little.
“My parents got divorced when I was ten years old.” Jimin doesn’t say anything, but all her attention is on Minjeong who keeps on tracking the sharks with her eyes. “My dad cheated on my mom with three different women, and they all ended up pregnant. Though they all got abortions once they found out he was married, in the end my mom got basically nothing in the divorce.” Minjeong’s voice is laced with the kind of grief that nothing washes away.
“My mom raised me and my sister alone after that, well, she didn’t really have a choice. My dad… he was a nepo baby, the youngest son of a wealthy family. His parents never liked my mom, so they made sure she didn’t get a cent of anything, no alimony, no child support.” Minjeong looked almost somber thinking back on the past. She remembers the cold nights when they couldn’t afford heating, and all the times when dinner was glorified scraps. “My mom saved up and launched her own business, so we got back on our feet, but I know that I never want to end up in a situation like hers. If I ever get into a relationship, it will be with someone who I’m sure will never betray me like that, even if it means not marrying the one I love.” Minjeong turned her head to look into Jimin’s eyes, she found sadness and sympathy swirling in endless brown eyes.
Jimin hesitantly raised her hand to adjust a piece of hair behind Minjeong’s ear. She thought for a moment, she has never shared her own closet of skeletons with anyone before. But Minjeong shared such a vulnerable piece of her past, she let her in. It’s only fair that Jimin opens the same doors for her to look into her soul, to let her see who she really is.
“My mom doesn’t believe in being tied down to one person. I never knew my dad simply because my mom doesn’t know who is he.” Minjeong could see the reluctance before Jimin continued, determination solidifying her words. “I have three sisters and we all have different dads, but none of us have any relationship with our dad. My mom… she’s not really present in our lives, she gives us money and as long as we don’t do anything that could shade her name we can do anything we want.” Minjeong felt her defense crack even further, Jimin as a person started to make sense to her. Her negligent mother who has only showed her how to go fling from fling, even having multiple children without knowing who their father is.
It makes Minjeong’s chest ache with how unfair it is, to bring a child into this world and then neglect them to such points, to think that money will raise them for her. She thinks back to Jimin’s Instagram and how the same girl never appeared twice, how now that she thinks back she never saw an ounce of affection in those pictures.
She thinks to how this whole afternoon Jimin has been looking at her with eyes full of, she dare say, love. Jimin who she thought was nothing but a tactless fuckgirl, who is now sharing the deepest parts of her heart, the parts that make the shell of who she is, of how she looks at the world.
At the same time confusion and insecurity overtakes Minjeong’s heart, what if she also means nothing to Jimin but someone to be conquered and then discarded? She doesn’t think she would be a same afterwards. If she lets herself fall, she knows she will fall far deeper than she can handle.
This is why she made the no dating rule for herself in high school, why she rejected everyone that tried to approach her with the slightest hint of romantic interest. This is the reason why she raises walls that no one can climb, so that she doesn’t end up blinded by love so badly that in the end she gets hurt like her mother got.
“Jimin, I need you to be honest with me,” Minjeong looks away for a second, fear corners her eyes but Jimin’s gaze doesn’t wander away, she holds the eye contact the same adoration and patience in her eyes that has been present this whole afternoon. “If, if I gave you a chance, would you change your fratboy lifestyle?”
Jimin was stunned for a second, how did Minjeong know about that? Fratboy lifestyle was something of an exaggeration though, she wasn’t that douchey was she. In the last few months, she hasn’t attended even a single party, and she’s been absent from the frat she’s apart of too. So how did Minjeong know about it? Jimin thought for a second and then heat crawled up her neck from embarrassment and shame, she totally forgot that she used to treat her Instagram like a trophy case, showing off her best “achievements”.
“Minjeong-ah… that’s, that’s kind of a misunderstanding.” Jimin paused for a second, she wasn’t too sures she should confess right now about what happened with Chaewon. “I haven’t been like that since before the last semester ended, and even if I was, for you I would give up on partying for a life.”
Minjeong looks into Jimin’s eyes, her own are laced with uncertainty while she searches for a seed of guilt or dishonesty in Jimin’s eyes, she finds nothing but sincerity.
Jimin’s cheeks blush, and Minjeong finds that she quite likes seeing this part of the older girl too. “Does this, uh, mean that you like me back too?” Jimin looks so shy like this, a complete 180° from the way she was acting in her pictures.
Minjeong thought she shouldn’t give herself so easily, she should let Jimin work for it a little more. See if the older girl is being honest, if she’s willing to fight for her, to be loyal only to her. “Hm… well ‘like’ is a strong word, unnie, how about you take me on a few more dates first?” Minjeong’s eyes were filled with mischief and her tone was full of teasing. Jimin’s chest was filled with warmth, though Minjeong didn’t admit to liking her back If she wasn’t interested, she wouldn’t have brought up going on more dates.
Jimin’s charm worked on her after all! She might really have her perfect first love, first girlfriend, and only wife. Yes, she was already thinking about marrying Minjeong, no planned kids yet, not before she finds out if Minjeong even wants any spawns.
