Rue stood standing in front of her closet,contemplating on what to wear to her event now she knew Kat put her outfit out she just didn’t know where,she finally spoke after staring flatly into her closet.
“KAT where is the outfit you put out for me I swear,Im gonna lose it if Ethan went and stole one of my shirts again and misplaced it.”
Hi I’m rue and this is me yelling at my newly best friend Kat Hernandez,your probably wondering how Kat and I ended up living in a apartment together well let me explain.See me and Kat met in UCLA cafeteria.
FLASHBACK
Im walking through the campus after exiting Mrs Kaiser’s class which by the way was horrifying he stood over my shoulder the entire time i filled out the syllabus which I couldn’t tell if it was modern racism or genuine curiosity.As I walk through thinking to myself about how many tables their were I hear a loud voice behind me exclaiming: “RUE OH MY GOSH IS THAT YOU”
I quickly turn around to a tight hug from Kat before she continues “Omg it’s been so long where have u been stranger”,Kat looked noticeably different she had a confident look to her and her hair was long while her nails were in french tips,she must’ve noticed my slight check out because she fixed her top before stepping back making my mind snap back to reality “Hey Kat it’s been a while I’ve been good,sober I actually got in here with a basketball scholarship” I quickly realized my sober comment shut down a path of future uncomfortable questions because I seen the relief in her face wash over like a wave.Kat spoke cutting into my thoughts “Any weird professors?” “You have NO idea” I said before walking off filling her in on my chaotic first day.After the semester was over we had gotten really close and when we both needed a apartment to stay in but couldn’t afford paying full rent we decided to move in one together.
BACK TO THE PRESENT
Kat:Rue I told you it was on the table in the living room,and for your information ethan hasn’t been over sense our latest argument sense he called me crazy last week.Kats voice cut into my thoughts like a thick knife before I headed toward the dining room to see my graphic black tee and light blue jorts with my blue zip up,laying across the table I quickly picked them up before heading to room to get dressed I stop near her bedroom before speaking “Thanks Kat and fuck Ethan your a beautiful queen who doesn’t need a man” Kat looked up at me slightly before speaking “Thank you for the pep talk now go get ready before you wine later on how you failed” I quickly head to my room throwing on my graphic tee and zip up before throwing my jorts and belt,I quickly pull my hair in a bun before yelling goodbye to Kat grabbing my keys and headphones practically throwing my backpack in my passenger seat before pulling out the parking lot.
Back at the apartment with Kat
Kat was on the phone with Maddy,BB,And Cassie
Maddy:”Was that rue again”
She said it almost laughing before BB spoke out
BB:”Where’s she in a hurry too the White House”
Kat:”No she got this big fancy contract with the wnba so she’s going to a event”
Maddy:”Omg Kat thats huge,why are you so grumpy”
BB:”Yea girl you look like you have a cloud over your head literally”
Cassie:”It’s because Ethan and her are arguing again”
All the girls sigh in sink making Kat mock all their sighs
Kat:”Yes yes I know,she begins before speaking in a mocking Cassie voice:Leave him Kat your too good for him”
Maddy and BB laugh while Cassie rolls her eyes
Kat:”I’m honestly just tired ok I don’t wanna hear it I haven’t gotten any sleep”
Before Kat can finish BB cuts her off
BB:”Omg it’s that bad you guys are done fr this time”
Kat:”God no,I haven’t gotten sleep because rues newly side thing keep’s me up all night”
Cassie fake barfs making Kat laugh while BB started clapping while Maddy just sat quiet
Kat:”Seriously all hear from her room is:Ahh rue~ or obnoxious groaning”
As Kat continues to mock rue while BB and Cassie laugh,Maddy suddenly breaks the laughter
Maddy:”It’s probably just a random hookup or something it doesn’t mean anything”
The girls sit quietly before cassie speaks carefully
Cassie:”Maddy please tell me got over whatever thing u had for her back in high school right?”
Kat and BB sit in shock before Maddy immediately speaks
Maddy:”Cassie please shut the fuck up.”
Cassie:”Right,I’m gonna to bed love you guys”
Before Kat or BB can answer she hangs up leaving it quiet
BB:”I have a thing tomorrow I gotta get up for love you guys”
BB hangs up leaving Kat and Maddy
Kat:”Maddy you know I love you but you have to get over this crush thing,I’m gonna go to bed good night.”
Maddy:”Goodnight.”
Kat hangs up
Maddy sits on her bad exhausted before finally closing her eyes falling asleep.
