Sitting in a bus was Mabel and Dipper, they both had fallen asleep shortly after saying their goodbyes to the friends in gravity falls they had made along the summer.
Dipper woke up his eyes blurred in tiredness, as he rubbed his eyes and turned to his sister who was still asleep leaning on his shoulder.
He smiled lightly and looked down at the paper with ‘see you next summer!’ Written on it with big letters. He thought back to the memories he and his sister Mabel had made all summer, the good and the bad ones. He stared out the window reminiscing
the times they had.
The bus screeched as it stopped letting passengers off.
“Mabel get up, we’re close to our stop.”
Dipper said while pushing her to get up
“Huh..? Oh we’re almost there?”
Mabel asked wiping the drool off her mouth
“Ah man! You drooled on me! And yes we’re like 5 minutes away.”
Dipper said annoyed
“Haha.. sorry bout the dipstick! … I can’t believe it’s over.”
Mabel said as her happy tone faded to a slight sadness.
She looked down wishing summer never ended.. Dipper looked at her not with pity but with the same thoughts she had but he didn’t want to say it out loud.
“Yeah.. but hey maybe mom and dad will be happy to see us! Plus we can face time when everyone in gravity falls later.”
“Yeah, but it’s not the same. I’m already missing lazy Susan’s pancakes! And seus’s jokes, and talking to Wendy about boys.. ugh.. but yeah seeing mom and dad is Gonna be nice.”
Dipper smiled lightly and agreed. They decided to chat about what they were going to do when they got home while they waited for the bus to stop.
“This is our stop. Come on, let's go Mabel.”
Mabel and Dipper grabbed their bags as they walked off the bus. They didn’t have to walk far to reach their house, as they walked the the steps of their front porch they looked at each other and smiled happily
“Back after three whole months! I wonder if they changed anything in the house!”
Mabel said as she walked up the steps to open the door.
She opened the door to find their parents picking up boxes and moving them to the front door.
“Oh! You’re back kids!”
Their dad said in a surprised tone
“Yeah this is the date we had planned to come home all summer?”
Dipper said slightly confused on why his dad would be surprised that they’d come home on a planned and set date.
Maybe he was surprised by the time we got home?
Dipper thought to himself
“Oh yes! You’re right silly me I forgot— is that a pig?”
Mabel looked at dipper hugging waddles and turned to her dad with a smile
“This is waddles! I got him at the start of summer! If you don’t let me keep him I’ll do unimaginable things.”
Her dad blankly stared
“Okay.. we’ll talk about it with your mom— oh! Kids speaking of your mother!”
“Yeah?” Dipper and Mabel said in unison
“So you know how your mother had been working so hard to get that big job?!”
“Oh yeah that one!” Mabel yelled
“She got it!” Their dad exclaimed with joy
“That’s great dad! But what’s with the boxes?”
Mabel asked in confusion
“Well.. we are going to move to Gotham New Jersey, she got a job at Wayne enterprises! So pack your things we have to leave in a couple days!”
The twins glance at each other.
“We’re moving right as we get home? Okay..”
Dipper said slightly annoyed at the thought that they just came back and are immediately leaving again. He looked at Mabel and her face said the same thing.
“Yes Mason, this is a big deal for me. So get to packing, we leave this week.”
The twins frowned as they walked up stairs to pack
10 minutes later
Dipper walks into Mabel’s room as she’s packing her many sweaters that she had left home. No need to unpack he summer stuff.
“Mabel, this is crazy! Not only are we moving across the country, but we are moving one of— if not the most dangerous cities ever!”
Dipper said furiously. Mabel looked at him and at the picture of her candy and grenda on her night stand.
“And we’re gonna be even further from gravity falls.. dipper, I’m happy mom got the job but- I don’t like this.”
“Me too, me too Mabel.”
The pines family just arrived at the Gotham airport. Grabbing their luggage and heading out a cab awaits.
In Gotham ordering a cab is risky but what else could they do? Luckily they didn’t get robbed while in the cab.
They finally arrived. The house was much bigger than their old one.
“Wow this place is fancy!”
Mabel yelled in excitement. She liked the grand look of things but she always preferred the old wood smell and tattered rugs the mystery shack had held.
“Do we really need this big house for 4 people?”
Dipper asked in a sassy tone.
His mom looked at him with her eyebrows furrowed
“You might know Gotham isn’t the best place to be. So I made sure to save up for a nice place in a nice neighborhood. Plus with this new job we can afford it”
She said smiling. As they unlocked the door they were quick to notice the inside was just a beautiful as the exterior.
“Wow!”
Mabel gleamed with joy
“Alright, go pick your rooms! Me and your mom have to contact the moving company.”
“Okay!”
The twins said in unison
As they ran upstairs they found two bed rooms beside one another.
They were around the same size had had their own bathroom.
“I’ll choose this one!”
Mabel called dibs first
“Great cuz I chose this one!”
Dipper said grinning with joy
It has been 2 days since they moved in. The first night dipper entered Mabel’s room with his blanket.
“Sorry. It’s been a while since we had our own space.. can I sleep here?”
Dipper asked with a whisper in the dimmed room
“Hehe I was actually gonna go to your room and ask the same thing!”
Mabel giggled
She didn’t have a bed yet so they made pallet out of blankets and sweaters she knitted over the summer.
It was surprisingly cozy for a empty house, so cozy that they didn’t take long to fall asleep
The next day.
The twins walked down stairs to their parents letting the moving company bring their stuff in.
Their mother was talking to one of the workers and their dad was in the other room telling them where to put the couch.
“Ah kids! These gentlemen are putting our furniture in. But nevermind that! I have to talk to you two.”
Their mother said rushing to pour her coffee
“So.. we moved across the country so obviously you’re changing schools but the school you’re going to is Gotham academy.”
“Isn’t that a rich kid expensive school?”
Dipper asked crossing his arms
“Yes it is, it’s the best one here which is why you both are going to enroll there.”
She sipped her coffee
“In fact you go there on Monday, and it’s Saturday so your Uniform should arrive tomorrow.”
“Oh yay… school.”
Mabel said sarcastically
“Hey, weren’t you excited to go into high school?”
Dipper asked tilting his head and confusion
“Yeah.. but now I’m feeling- off? I dunno..”
Madel said, slightly anxious. Dipper put his hand on her shoulder and smiled.
“Hey if anyone messes with you just remember how we handled Pacifica! First foe, neutral, then a friend! That’s how you always do it Mabel”
Dipper isn’t very good at comforting people but Mabel felt a little better after hearing his terrible motivational speech.
“Haha! I guess you’re right. Okay, I think I'm ready.”

Monday
The twins got up early and got ready for their first day of school.
New state, new school and new grade. They were nervous as hell but that didn’t stop them from being their usual selves.
Dipper packed his bag with extra pencil, paper, sticky notes and study guides.
Mabel packed her bag with extra colorful pens, those erasers that smell like fruit and stickers she planned to hand out to new friends she would make.
“You ready mabe— uh.. are you gonna need all those accessories?”
Dipper asked as he looked at both her wrists that had about 10 bracelets each on both sides.
“Normally 20 bracelets doesn’t seem like too much but with this stuffy uniform I look a little.. ridiculous? I don’t know, maybe none..?”
Mabel said anxious for her first day.
“I couldn’t choose which bracelet to wear so I put all of them on.”
“Maybe take five of each wrists and just alternate throughout the day?”
Dipper loves solving problems even when they’re as silly as his sister’s bracelets
“Good idea!”
“Yeah I know I’m awesome! Anyway we have to go if we wanna be on time.”
The twins grabbed their bag as they walked out the door.

“So what class do you have first and what’s your schedule look like?”
Mabel asked dipper, kind of hoping she’d be in at least one of them
“Algebra 1 first. Here’s my schedule so you can compare it.”
“Oh we have lunch together! Ugh.. no classes though..”
“Look I’m nervous too but I bet you’ll make a friend and not have to worry”
If anything Dipper was a hundred times more nervous than Mabel.
When Mabel gets comfortable around her surroundings she’s usually very outgoing while Dipper is still anxious around his friends who he had gone through literal hell with.
“Yeah you’re right. I hope you get a friend too, at least I have candy and grenda while you have like no friends haha!”
Dipper punched her arm as she laughed
“Okay I’m gonna get going, see you at lunch!”
Dipper walked off to go to math.
Mabel looked down to her schedule and saw science.
Hey, science is pretty fun!
She thought to herself as she walked to the classroom
As Mabel walked into class she saw that there wasn’t many people
Maybe I’m early..? Oh yeah I forgot dipper likes to be like 5 minutes early ugh.
She went to a random seat and waited for class to start
As more more students walked in and started crowding the room she noticed the teacher walking in
“Hello class, I'm your science teacher Mrs Austin! We’ll be doing our first assignment in duos! This assignment will last a week. I’ll put the names of who will be partnered with who.”
“Anna and Kyle. James and Kamil…."
After the teacher called out the names Mabel found herself with her lab partner being. A broody boy named Damian Wayne.
“I’m Mabel! I guess we’ll be lab partners for the week!”
“Damian, I'm guessing we need to go to one another’s home for this project.”
“Yeah spit seems like it. I’m not sure if we can go to mine.. I just moved here and my house is kind of unfinished so it’d be distracting!”
Mabel giggled in embarrassment
“Hm.. I guess we shall go to mine.”
Ugh Grayson is definitely going to ask unnecessary questions..
He thought in annoyance
“Okay! Making us do a week-long project on a Monday is crazy.. not to mention it’s the first day.”
“Yes I agree. It makes more sense to do it on a Friday. But whatever, it’s a whole week so let’s make the most of it. Come to my house tomorrow after school?”
Damian asked
“Sure! What time?”
“I can contact you tonight. What’s your cell phone number?”
“Oh, I don’t have a phone— but I can give you my house number!”
“That’s alright. I can contact you around dinner.”
“Great!”
At lunch
Dipper walked in line grabbing a tray and choosing what food to eat.
Across the room is Mabel who was already looking for a place to sit when she noticed Damian sitting alone. She smiled and thought she should walk over and sit with him.
“Hi Damian! Can I sit with you? If you’re not saving a seat for someone of course!”
Damian looked up with his eyebrows furrowed he closed his eyes as he answered
“Sure. We can talk about the project while we eat.”
“Kay! Oh— mind if my brother joins us?”
“That’s fine.”
He agreed. She smiled as she celebrated in making her first friend
I’m so making him a sweater for out 1 month friendaiversary !
Dipper walked over tray in hand, he looked at Damian then Mabel and gave her that
‘Are we sure about him’ look. He sat down across from both of them and greeted them.
“Hey how’s it going?”
Dipper asked as he glanced at Damian who still had his eyebrows furrowed and a slightly pissed look. Dipper couldn’t tell if that was his face or if he didn’t enjoy dipper’s presence..
“Dipper this is Damian, Damian this is Dipper and I’m Mabel!
“.. your name is Dipper?”
“No it’s mason, it’s a nickname because of my birthmark.”
He pulled his hair up exposing his forehead showing an oddly detailed birthmark of the Big Dipper.
Damian stared at Dipper, not understanding if it was actually real or not..
“Is that so? Hm, okay mason, are you twins? You’re in the same grade and look very similar.”
Damian asked, putting his fork down and straightening his posture. Dipper’s Face scrunched at Damian calling him by his real name, he didn’t really care that he called him Mason, but it was his tone that put him off.
“Yeah we are twins! Wow you must be a detective, or a spy! Or both? Anyway— what’s your favorite color? Oh! And do you like animals?”
Damian stared at her while she shot questions like a riffle, once she mentioned animals his face eased up. He closed his eyes and turned away slightly
“I do in fact like animals. You?”
“I have a pig named waddles!”
“Oh? How did you adopt him?”
“My gruncle Stan was hosting a fair and there was a man who had a game where you guess the weight of the pig and you get it for free! The silly dude said the weight of waddles before I could guess, then he called me a witch.”
Damian stared as he processed the whole story she had told him
“Hm okay. Bring him to my house tomorrow. I can pick you up.”
Dipper stopped eating his food after hearing Mabel was going to a kid she just Mets house
“Uhm Mabel? What the hell?”
“What’s wrong?”
She asked smiling while tilting her head
“You're going to his house? You literally just met him? Do you even know his last name!?”
Dipper exclaimed worried but slightly angry, he knew about his sister's past with boys.. and it never turned out well on her end.
“It’s fine! It’s for a project— what is your last name? Mines pines!”
Dipper slapped his forehead as Damian smirked slightly
“It’s Wayne.”
…
“W.. Wayne? Are you related to Bruce Wayne?”
Dipper stuttered
“Yes I am. Anything wrong with that?”
“Holy crap! My mom works for your dad’s company! That’s the whole reason we moved here !”
Mabel yelled with excitement
“Oh? I see. Anyway, lunch is almost over so we’ll have to get going soon.”
“Oh yeah you’re right! What’s your next class?”
“History.”
“Same!”
Dipper grumbled as he walked off to his next class, looking back at his sister who made a friend it seemed.. but why was he worried something big is hiding behind two short people’s friendship?
After school
All the children were leaving the academy.
Damian walking out, seeing his ride with his butler Alfred driving he walked forwards the car, as he saw his elder brother Tim was already in the car.
As he walked towards the car noticing his new friend, Mabel waved at him with a smile as Dipper looked at her annoyed slightly.
Damian have a half way back to her and noticed Tim looking at him when he arrived at the car.
“Who’s the colorful girl you waved at?”
Tim asked in slightly mocking tone
“She’s my lab partner drake, we’re doing a week long project together”
“Project on the first day? Sheesh— that’s rough.”
“Nothing I can’t handle.”
At the Pines twins house
Mabel is humming a tune as she paints her nails whilst her brother is organizing his book shelf thinking about their first day at school.
“Okay, Mabel, I’ll just say it.”
Dipper cuts his sisters humming abruptly
She puts the polish brush back into the bottle and looks at him confused
“Look, I'm happy you have a friend and all.. but Damian Wayne? Didn’t we already have bad moments with rich people, not to mention this kid is a billionaire?”
Mabel looked at him blankly for a moment then smiled as she got up from her spot on the floor with her fingers spread wide so she wouldn’t get nail polish on her clothes
“Dipper, it’s okay. I’ve already made amends with Pacifica and Gideon! Yeah one bullied me and the other was so in love he tried to force me to be his girlfriend— but I’m sure Damian is a normal guy.”
Dippers eye brows lowered and his frown fell lower as his head tilted
“Okay— a normal billionaire guy, you get my point!”
“Yeah but I think you should be caref—
*RING*
Dipper was cut off by the family phone ringing loudly, they were on the second floor but the house was so empty it sounded like it was the room next to them
“That must be Damian! Hold that thought bro bro, I got to answer it!”
Dipper sighed as his sister sprinted out the room running towards the ring
“Hello, Mabel speaking!”
“Hello Mabel It's me, Damian Wayne. I was wondering if you could just ride home with me, it’d save us time so we wouldn’t have to worry about daylight running out, if you have a curfew.”
“I don’t really have a curfew but sure I’ll ride with you! See you tomorrow!”
“Yeah, see you. goodbye”
“Good night!”
*tick*

Damian puts his cell phone down as he walks to Alfred the beloved butler
“Pennyworth, I’ll be having a classmate over for a project.”
“A classmate? That’s new.. would you like me to prepare snacks for the occasion master Damian?”
Alfred raised an eyebrow clutching his wrist behind his back. This is the first time Damian invited anyone over other than Jon.
“Yes, that would be appreciated.
Damian nodded as he walked off to the training room.
Damian walked into the training room as he already saw Tim and dick there exercising. Dick was stretching to get ready to do some acrobatic workouts,
While time was lifting a weight while him and dick chatted
Dick turned and saw Damian walking in
“Oh hey Damian! How was your first day of high school?”
Dick asked, curious for what his youngest brother was doing.
Tim grinned as he suddenly remembered what he saw in the car after school.
“He was waving at a girl~”
Dick gasped at Tim as he quickly turned and looked at Damian.
He seemed physically annoyed and pissed at what Tim said.
“She’s my lab partner, I’m doing a project with her. And she waved at me first.”
“Aweee you made a friend!”
Dick sounded like a teen girl squealing over her favorite singer with how excited he was.
Tim laughed hard at what was happening
Damian decided to walk away and not train for the night.
