Summary:
The words sit vulnerably in the air before the pounding rain washes them away and leaves him colder than ever.
There are so many things he could say. I was, or not anymore, or I just thought I was…
He stops. He’s done running. He’d been fooling himself, keeping one last secret. The same old shit, but he’s done being afraid. “Yeah, Mike,” he says, tiredly. With certainty. “I am.”
“Will…”
“Just forget it, Mike,” Will says, sick of interpreting the expressions flickering across Mike’s face, sick of looking for signals and overanalyzing and dreaming and hoping. “Forget it.”
___The rain fight parallel we were promised and the basement conclusion.
