Red String Mind

Summary:

Set in GlitchyRobo's Human Domestication Guide setting.

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Our lead, Cassandra, has problems with reality. She sees things that other people don't. Sometimes they exist; sometimes they don't. She has never shaken the feeling that there's a sinister side to the Affini Compact, a dark secret they carefully hide.

And then, one day, she finds it. And everything stops making sense.

Acekink. Conspiratorial. Canon-compliant.

A note:

This story is not a beginner-level story. It is specifically intended for those who have extensive experience with the Human Domestication Guide setting. If this is one of your first stories, you may come away with an incorrect understanding of how the genre operates. As such, it is highly recommended to read this after other, more foundational works, including Human Domestication Guide, and my own series, Lin Ralazinziq, for an incomplete list, and to consult a setting expert if something seems off. It has been published all at once for a reason.

This story was designed with the fonts Caveat, Black Ops One, Libre Franklin, and Cabin for titles and other effects. However, the story is also designed to gracefully fall back without any of these fonts. Feel free to skip installing additional fonts for the purpose of reading plampt smut on the internet if you don't want to.

Names and other words in this story have a pronunciation guide in ruby text, written in the International Phonetic Alphabet. These are designed to be heard correctly at IPA-reader.com. Some require specific voices other than the default Salli US English to hear correctly for various reasons, and some are, due to having features that do not exist in human language, essentially an IPA conlang extension utilizing features of Unicode. These will be described as such in the chapter notes.

This story contains embedded audio and video, or other audiovisual components intended to induce or alter the mood of the chapter being read. You can think of it as the soundtrack or score of the story. They are usually put into collapsible panes, and at least on desktop, those panes can be re-collapsed and scrolled past while continuing to read. They will frequently loop by default.

Chapter Text

Two factions, both alike in dignity,
in this Cordylia, where we lay our scene,
come xenosophonts break 'pon fixity,
where civil sap makes sophont psyches clean.
From forth the acts of these two secret foes,
a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,
whose fraught reality connects their woes,
and with domestication, end their strife.
the fearful passage of their floret-love
amid the slings and arrows of their cage —
below the fragile peace that hangs above —
is now these chapters' traffic of our stage;
the which, if you with keener eyes attend,
what's been amiss, thy toil shall strive to end.
