Work Text:
Fount kicks a pebble down the path, wandering aimlessly through the forest to nowhere in particular. His lessons were finally over and this is how he passes the time, wandering around with the intent to find a place where he can quietly read. He squeezes his eyes shut, shielding himself from the harsh sunlight. The forest seems to have ended here, as he walks through a flower meadow.
He sits down a patch of flowers and resumes his book. He’s read that same book about the stars more times than any fingers can count, and he still can’t get enough of it. His favorite part of the book however, was the part about solar system. The process of a star’s creation and life, it simply fascinated him to no end. He pretty much had to learn everything, how else was he supposed to be a perfect virtue.
“Hi!!!”
He flinches, snapping his head to see another Cookie. He quickly gets up, bowing forward. “My apologies for intruding your stroll. I will leave now.” His tutors said that he can’t do “friends” because he has a duty to help Cookie’s when he comes of age. However, the other Cookie looks surprised by his response.
“You weren’t intruding. I’ve never seen a Cookie like you before… what’s your name??”
Fount only blinks, “My…name?”
The Cookie nods, “Yeah. I’m Pure Vanilla Cookie!!! And your name is??”
“Call me…Fount.”
He studied Pure Vanilla, his hair was adorned in the color of the sunlights rays. Brown dough, and eyes closed like he’s hiding something. He looked ethereal, stunning, positively divine. Pure Vanilla takes another step forward, placing his hand on the book.
“Whatcha reading?”
Fount takes a seat in the flowers again, opening his book once more. “Just a book about the stars.” Pure Vanilla drags his hands over the pages, a brief brush of his fingers against his hand made Fount squeak. His face becomes unusually warm by the motion.
“I can’t read this book. Would you mind reading it to me??”
Fount tilted his head, “Why can’t you read it??”
Pure Vanilla smiles, “I can’t see well. I normally read books in braille.”
Fount is taken aback. Of course this cookie is blind, that’s why his eyes are closed. He doesn’t make any other comment on his blindness, simply starting to read the book with excellent memory. Pure Vanilla Cookie is an…interesting sort of company, he never really had another person to talk to. Someone that wasn’t his tutors.
Pure Vanilla Cookie suddenly stands up, “I have to get back home, may we meet again tomorrow?”
Fount closed his book, now realizing that the sun is setting. He quickly bolted back into the woods, he didn’t even have time to say goodbye. He finds his Spire swiftly, going inside and becoming lost in his own mind. Did he…make a friend?? He just talked to another cookie and he wants to see him again. His face becomes warm again, GAH!! WHY WAS HIS FACE GETTING SO WARM WHENEVER HE THINKS ABOUT THAT BLONDE COOKE!?

Pure Vanilla Cookie skips, a delightful day it was going to be indeed. It had been about two weeks since he met Fount, who had hair that was sprinkled with stars from the night sky. Skin as blue as the feathers of a bluebird, well, that was the description his extremely blurry vision gave him.
Fount barely had time to even meet him, only being able to get here in the afternoon. Which Pure Vanilla didn’t mind at all, he was just hoping that he wasn’t causing Fount too much trouble. He was always the first one to arrive at the meadow, so he occupied his hands with making a flower crown.
“Apologies for being tardy!! I couldn’t find my new book.”
Pure Vanilla smiles at Fount, “That’s alright, friend.” Fount sits down, crisscrossing his legs before resuming his book. It was how the two interacted, not playing rough or the like, simply being present in each other’s company was enough.
Pure Vanilla weaves some flowers into the crown, “You know, you remind me of a bluebird.”
Fount doesn’t look up from his book, “Why, because I’m blue?” He snickers, “How ridiculous.”
Pure Vanilla bursts into giggles, prompting a befuddled expression from Fount. “Haha! No, Silly!!!” He gently placed his now finished flower crown on Fount’s head. “Because you’re cute, and your voice is sweet!!! It makes me smile!!!”
Pure Vanilla resumes his flower picking, if he were to gaze at Fount, he would’ve seen a deep purple blush across his face. Fount stands up suddenly, Pure Vanilla follows his motion.
“I’m gonna show you something, but you have to promise not to freak out… or laugh.”
Pure Vanilla puts a finger on his chin, “Okay.” And in the blink of an eye, Fount had transformed into a bluebird. He flew around him, while Pure Vanilla had his jaw slack. His eyes had stars of amazement in them as he watched Fount fly around him. He catches Fount, rubbing his cheek against his friend’s feathers in adoration.
“SO CUTE!!! My little Bluebird!!!”
He spent rest of their time adoring Fount’s form, giving him pets with only his finger before the sun began to set. Fount shifted back, before leaving Pure Vanilla gave him a flower and kissed him on the cheek. Expressing his gratitude, because he had no other words.
