Svetlana Vetrova met Rose Landry at Ilya’s wedding. Of course she was happy for her best friend but she also felt even more alone than before. Ilya left nearly 3 full years ago, he barely reached out, and now he’s married. At least he wasn’t hiding Shane Hollander from her anymore. Shane was sweet and very clearly in love with Ilya. She doesn’t know how no one in their fields didn’t pick up on it before Hayden Pike posted that video.
Svetlana was definitely not a Montreal Voyageurs fan but she was even less of a Hayden Pike fan. What type of person doesn’t watch over a video before sending it to someone? Svetlana was 100 percent willing to hurt Hayden if he even looked at them the wrong way.
Another Voyageur that was on her bad side was J.J. Boiziau. She was so pissed when Ilya told her what he said and did, “best friends” with Shane her ass. She knew Cliff Marleau was even smart enough to never claim Ilya tripped on purpose.
Svetlana knew Shane Hollander and Rose Landry dated. What she didn’t know was that they were still friends. She was shocked to see Rose at the wedding, she looked gorgeous as always. Svetlana had seen almost all the movies she had acted in. She loved movies, especially “bad” movies according to Ilya.
Svetlana had sat alone for the beginning of the ceremony, then Rose Landry sat next to her. Rose was wearing a beautiful long mermaid gown made out of red silk, while Svetlana was wearing a gorgeous light green dress that stopped just above her knees.
“I love your dress.” Rose said as she sat down next to Svetlana. “Which groom do you know?”
“Thanks, your dress is nice. I know Ilya.” She replied with a quick smile. “ And obviously you know Shane Hollander.”
Rose chuckled, “Huh, what gave that away.” Svetlana faked a shrug.
“We will never know how, I guess.” Svetana joked.
Rose laughed, but paused as the wedding ceremony began, they were quiet throughout the ceremony. Svetlana loved the ceremony because she wanted the world for Ilya, and was so happy he found his world in Shane Hollander.
After the ceremony finished Rose and Svetlana went separate ways. Svetlana began conversing with Cliff Marleau. While Rose started talking to Hayden and Jackie Pike. Svetlana would never be caught dead talking to Hayden Pike no matter how beautiful his wife is. She started wondering how Hayden landed Jackie. Maybe she lost a bet.
Cliff cut off her train of thought, “Svetlana.” He waved a hand in front of her face as he chuckled. “You’re looking at Pike like you’re about to murder that poor guy. If Roz and Hollander can forgive him shouldn’t you?”
Svetlana groaned, “They are both weak at holding grudges.” She smacked the hockey player's hand.
Cliff laughed. Ilya was wandering around and decided to stop and talk to the two of them.
“What’s wrong with him?” Ilya asked Svetlana. Cliff made a fake hurt face as he stopped laughing.
“Told him the truth. You and Shane are bad at holding grudges.” Svetlana replied with a shrug, “Don’t know why Marly is hysterically laughing about it.”
The truth was both Ilya and Svetlana knew why Cliff was laughing. His sense of humor is shit. He’ll laugh at just about anything.
Ilya and Cliff started talking about a Centaurs game, which Svetlana had already heard all about. Bored out of her mind she looked around for anyone else to talk to. Just to find Rose Landry alone again. She slowly made her way over and sat next to her.
“Oh hello again.” Rose said very cheerfully.
“Oh uh yes, Hello. Hope it's okay I sat here.” Svetlana said not really caring, just trying to make conversation.
“Of course!” Rose replied, “How are you enjoying Canada?”
“Bold of you to assume I’m not from this boring country.” Svetlana replied jokingly. “I am having a good time. I missed Ilya. It's great to see him again.” Rose took a quick sip of her Shirley Temple? an odd choice Svetlana thought.
“How long have you two known each other?"
“Childhood, very young, too young to remember.” Svetlana sighed, “Are you drinking a Shirley Temple?” Rose frowned slightly, “Yes, it was the only drink the bartender knew how to fully make. I couldn’t have any more wine.”
Svetlana started laughing. “Shane Hollander can not pick out wine for the life of him.” Svetlana, still laughing, said, “It’s Rosé.”
“I know!” which made both Svetlana and Rose laugh. As the music started playing it broke apart their laughter, Diamonds by Rihanna. Obviously Shane did not pick this. With his boring music taste? No, but then again Ilya doesn’t seem that enchanted by the song as he is Shane.
Svetlana’s eyes travel to David and Yuna, Shane’s parents as they start to tear up. Svetlana looked to her left, Rose was staring at her with those stormy blue-gray eyes of hers. Rose blushed softly at being caught looking. Maybe she is drunk, Svetlana thought.
They lock eyes as the music switches and guests cheer for the married couples’ dance. Ain’t It Fun by Paramore now playing loud enough not to hear Cliff sing along, thank god.
Finally, They broke eye contact when Troy Barrett started talking right next to them. “The dance was really sweet.” Troy mumbled over the music, as J.J nodded. Svetlana rolled her eyes, still not understanding why that fool was invited to the wedding.
Troy waved at Svetlana and Rose, Rose being Rose immediately waved back cheerful as always and started walking over to them. Leaving Svetlana alone.
Svetlana wandered around for around for what felt like hours making small talk with everyone. Until Rose ran up to her during A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton “I love this song! Come dance with me.” Rose said nearly out of breath.
Svetlana glanced behind her confused. Was Rose talking to her? Rose chuckled, “Yes, you silly.” She grabbed Svetlana’s wrist and pulled her out and onto the dance floor.
Rose was intoxicating, she put her hands on Svetlana’s shoulders as she moved her hips to the music. Svetlana smirked and put her hands on Rose’s waist and began to dance with her. Throughout the song Svetlana and Rose’s smiles didn’t fall.Even when idiotic Pike bumped into them.
Once the song changed, it was announced that this would be the final song. Mr. Brightside by The killers starts playing. Rose looked slightly up at Svetlana and kept her hands in place as she started dancing again. Svetlana smiled down at her and began to dance with her again.
