Chapter Text
“Wait, who's that guy in the back of the class? I never noticed him.”
Your friend's words catch you off guard as you stare at the blackboard, lost in your own thoughts.
“Hmm? Who are you talking about?”
“That guy with the brown hair, I think he came here from Germany or something.”
“Yeah well I guess I never noticed him either. What's with the sudden interest in him?”
You tease your friend about the random remark. The boy they were talking about was always keeping to himself, rather than trying to get anybody's attention. In all honesty, you couldn't care less about him.
“What? You think I like him? Hes dressed like a fucking school shooter. I dont think ive ever seen him wear any other color than black and grey, if those even count as colors.”
“Whatever. Don't be so mean and focus on the teacher.”
Your attention snapped back to the front of the class as you heard your teacher call your name.
“Y/N are you listening? I asked you who your partner for the group project is going to be. Stop chatting or I will be the one choosing who you are going to work with.”
“Yes of course, sorry.”
You looked over at your friend, but to your surprise they already found a partner. Not knowing what to do, you looked around the classroom.
“Y/N, I assume you don't have a partner?” Your teacher asked.
“No uh- im still looking for one.”
“Well you're taking too long. I wouldn't be surprised if everybody has already managed to find themselves a partner. How about you just work together with Andre? Im sure he doesnt have a partner yet either”
Who the fuck was Andre?
You heard your friend giggle and then they leaned over to whisper something to you.
“Oh shit, your chemistry project partner is the school shooter. Watch out or he might blow you up.”
“That's not funny.” You said as you turned around to look at Andre and then back to the teacher.
“Sure. I don't mind”
The bell rings and you begin to pack your things, as you notice someone walking over to you.
“Hey. Im Andre”
“Yeah, I know. Im Y/N”
You noticed the few seconds of awkward silence between you two.
“So… what did you have in mind for the project?
…You know what, maybe we should talk about this in the cafeteria. I don't want to miss out on eating lunch.”
“Right.”
He quickly turned around and made his way to the cafeteria, which was now filled with students.
God, how could this get any more awkward? You couldn't tell if he was being shy or just purposefully cold towards you.
Either way, you decided to follow him. Arriving in the cafeteria, both of you grabbed some lunch and sat down at one of the empty tables.
To your surprise, Andre started the conversation.
“My idea was that we could try to make a presentation about how Gunpowder works. I mean the topic is “dangerous chemical reactions” so I thought it would be fitting.”
At first you thought he was joking, but he goes on to rant about all kinds of rapid chemical reactions, explosives and even mentions guns.
“You know, maybe that's a little, uh I don't know, weird?”
“Whats so weird about that?” Andre says with a dead serious look on his face.
You realised that he wasn't as reserved as you thought and that in reality he's brutally honest. Guess that makes working with him a bit easier.
“I guess it's a good idea. You seem to know a lot about… the topic.”
“Yeah. My Dad taught me all about that stuff while I was still a little boy.”
“Your Dad taught you about explosives and guns while you were a kid?”
You raised your eyebrows as you repeated what he just told you.
“Its not as bad as it sounds.”
“It sounds quite dangerous. Have you ever used a gun?”
The question came out bolder than you anticipated but before you could take your words back, he answered.
“Yes.”
Until he explained his answer, a few seconds of silence lingered between the two of you.
“As a child I was obviously scared of guns. But after my first time using one, that fear went away.”
He paused for a few seconds.
“You know I don't want to scare you, right? It might seem a little odd that the first real conversation that we have is about guns. Sorry if I seem weird”
You gave him a reassuring look. The sudden kindness of his words shocked you.
“You're not that weird.”
He chuckles.
“Well, thanks.”
The bell rings and before you could get up and head to your next class, Andre grabs your arm. Your eyes widen at the unexpected contact.
“Wait- How about we meet at my place later?” He stutters before continuing his sentence. “To uh work on the project. Which reminds me, I have something to show you later - if you decide to come over.”
It took you a second to think about the unexpected offer. Andre was getting more confident, the more you two talked.
“Yeah, that sounds good.”
He lets go of your arm.
“Awesome. I'll pick you up with my car after school.”
“Your car?”
It's crazy how little you know about your classmate. First he told you about how he had already fired a gun and now he is telling you about his car? This guy is full of surprises, which makes you even more interested in him.
“Yeah.”
“Oh okay. That's nice of you. We better get to class now.”
Both of you get up and start heading towards your next class. As you arrived, you sat down at your usual spot. Even though you tried focusing on the lesson, something could not leave your mind. That something - or someone - was Andre and how you would be going over to his place after school. You would be lying, if you said you didn't care about him, at the very least you were quite interested in him.
