“Come on guys it wasn’t that bad. Think of it as historical fiction.”
Wiess threw a dirty look back at Jaune. “That was an outrageous, inaccurate and insensitive portrayal of real events.”
Oscar walked beside her, “I wasn’t there but I don’t think the fall of Beacon ended with a musical number.”
Jaune crossed his arms,“Well I thought 'No more Nevermore' was catchy.”
Weiss signed, “I will say I prefer it to the actual ending.”
The trio were quiet for a moment but the silence quickly passed.
“You think the others are back yet?” Oscar asked.
“ Haven’t heard from anyone but Ruby. She said the party was cut short so she might be here.” Weiss didn’t want to think about Robin losing the election right now but knew it was a reality she would have to face in the morning.
“So- Blake and Yang were out with FUNKI?” Jaune asked, trying to hide his curiosity.
“Yep.” Weiss answered sharply.
“I didn’t realize they were close,” Oscar chimed in.
“They’ve been training with them more often ever since the ASOPS insisted we ‘branch out’ from usual partnerships. Blake and Yang still found an excuse to stick together though, through FUNKI.” Weiss couldn’t help but smirk a bit, the pair had a cute way of trying to be subtle.
Jaune stopped by a door with a large Pumpkin Pete decal in the middle. JUNOR had been collecting box tops for months to get it. “Welp, this is me and Oscar.”
Weiss nodded with a smile, “Goodnight you guys. Tonight was- enjoyable.”
Jaune held out his hand to Oscar without taking his eyes from Wiess, “Look at that, we melted the ice queen’s heart.” Oscar grinned and high fived him.
Weiss rolled her eyes and turned away, “Don’t make me take it back, vomit boy.”
“That's vomit man to you-” He called out after her. After a beat she heard the door click shut.
Weiss wandered down the hall alone, finding her way back to team RWBY’s dorm. It was like Beacon again, like Penny had mentioned. She couldn’t help but feel a little spark of nostalgia. Walking down the corridors of the school with a bag of books and classes anxious to arrive on time to. Now she was a huntress, in Atlas, fighting the monsters no one knew existed.
Her face fell a bit, she didn’t feel like a Huntress. Despite everything.
She arrived at her door, Ruby had stuck a magnetic whiteboard on the front. On it was a little doodled picture of a yellow Yang and purple Blake with little “zzzz’s” above their heads. A note was scribbled above them-
Penny and I out eating downstairs. Bees are inside asleep so be quiet - Ruby :)
Wiess laughed to herself, recently Ruby liked using attack names to refer to when certain people were together outside the battlefield. To be fair it was more convenient that way.
Weiss taped her scroll over the door handle and it opened. She crept in the dark and was about to climb into her bunk when she heard a whimper. She looked up at Blake’s bunk but it was empty, she frowned and perked up again when she heard a large rustle. She looked beside her to see Blake was being held in Yang’s arms.
Wiess’s expression softened. Blake looked slightly distressed, her face contorted in concern. A nightmare.
Wiess watched as Yang instinctively pulled her closer, burying her head in Blake’s shoulder. Blake seemed to calm down, her breathing settled until the two seemed to be perfectly in sync. Their chests rising and falling in unison.
Wiess climbed into her bunk and settled in beneath her blankets. It had been a good night. She felt more at home in Atlas than she ever had. Her chosen family was there for her, and that was all she needed to be happy anywhere she went.

Weiss didn’t even have to look at Nora, she noticed her leaving JUNOR's dorm and walked up beside her, staring straight ahead. “It's happening- a month and a half .”
Nora scoffed with a smirk, “Month and a half?! Please, three weeks topps.”
“A hundred Lien.”
“Aren’t you rich?’
Weiss huffed, “Three hundred, but know I won't be the one paying.”
