Work Text:
The Killing Curse finds its purchase, and when the green light fades from the clearing, Harry Potter lies motionless on the forest bed, like a puppet with cut strings.
When Narcissa Malfoy examines the body, there is no reply— no reassurance to her inquiry of her son's well-being, so she needn't lie to the Dark Lord for the slim chance that he will be defeated and her family be counted amongst those who aided in the effort.
Harry Potter and the Horcrux inside him die, and the War is as good as lost; the Wizarding World as good as doomed.
