Work Text:
Rin wasn’t in Blue Lock to make friends. Not like any of the lukewarm idiots in the program were worth even talking to anyways.
Well, maybe there were some exceptions. More like one exception.
Yo Hiori was… Not as bad, he guessed. Definitely better than Isagi or that cockroach of Shidou. And from the short five on five match Rin had got the chance to play with him, his football skills were decent too. He always placed himself in the right spot, which was nice for Rin’s plays to come out as they should.
He didn’t think they’d ever talk again after that match. He hadn’t even gotten Hiori’s name. But then the night came, his roommates were talking about the stupidest of things and Rin couldn’t sleep. He’d decided rewatching the footage from the different matches would be more useful than staring at the ceiling.
It wasn’t in his plans to run into Hiori in the screening room. But he couldn’t really avoid it, since the other was already inside watching some footage. After some awkward silence, Hiori had invited him to watch together, Rin reluctantly accepting cause he didn’t seem as annoying as others. If it were someone like Bachira or Aryu he’d have bolted out of there the moment he saw them.
Hiori had been nice. Too nice, maybe. He’d agreed to watch whatever footage Rin wanted, didn’t seem offended when Rin didn’t remember his name, accepted Rin’s critique on his performance during the match with a ‘thank you’ despite the harsh delivery… He had even snickered at some of his colorful comments about other players, mostly Shidou.
Rin didn’t owe anything to anyone. Much less niceness. But when the next day Hiori asked if they could train together, he found himself accepting without much resistance. He’d just turned down Isagi who’d come at him with basically the same offer, so why couldn’t he just say no again? Maybe because Hiori actually listened to what Rin told him, which meant there was a chance they could both improve from working together.
Once they started training together, it didn’t take long for Rin to see just how Hiori had managed to get this far into Blue Lock. His passes were precise, his technique and control of his body impeccable. But his biggest weapon was the brain he hid under that bright blue hair. Rin already knew this from their match together against Karasu, Otoya and whoever had been with them. Hiori was more than capable of keeping up with him in the field.
That allowed him to give Rin some great assists, improving the precision of his shots. The kind of assists Isagi could be doing if he wasn’t so fixated in surpassing Rin even if he so clearly couldn’t. That was maybe the biggest difference between the two blue haired boys: there was no hunger for goals in Hiori, at least not in the same way there was in Isagi or even Rin himself.
“Don’t you want to score?” He had asked one day during training, after he scored again and again against blue lock man while all Hiori had done was send him the ball.
“Dunno.” The other had replied, shrugging, face cold and unreadable. “Sometimes I wanna, but… I don’t really care.”
Somehow, that had sat wrong with Rin. Why would he not care? Wasn’t he a striker? He had expected for anyone that had made it this far to be an egoist obsessed with scoring. But the way Hiori talked about it… Did he even like football?
Eventually, Rin had to admit he liked Hiori. He was nice to play with and his company off the field was actually enjoyable. Accepting this had been a lot for him and he wasn’t planning on getting any closer to Hiori, because his head, and his heart, were not ready for so many new emotions. Life had other plans.
“Up so late again?” Hiori says with a smirk as Rin walks into the watching room. At this point it almost feels like they have an unspoken agreement on meeting here at night. Rin is pretty sure Hiori doesn’t have annoying roommates like he does, so he wonders why he is always awake at these late hours.
“Could ask you the same.” He mutters as he sits down next to the other boy.
“This is barely late for me.” Hiori replies. “Compared to my schedule at home, I’m still early to my bedtime.”
As much as he’d like to say he doesn’t care, Rin is curious.
“Do you miss it? Your home, I mean.” He asks, eyes on the screen.
The reply comes fast, devoid of hesitation but also of emotion.
“No. I’d rather stay here with ya.”
“With me?” His head turns to look at Hiori.
“Yes. With you and Karasu and Isagi and Nanase and…”
“Fine, fine I get it.” Something in his expression must have changed, because Hiori smiles at him.
The smile is sweet, but also slightly menacing. Rin has found out Hiori smiles like that a lot, only half hiding some twisted desire to poke into other’s wounds.
“Aww, are you jealous Rin? Would you like me to only want to be here for ya?”
His ears go red and he hides his face.
“Of those stupid lukewarms? I could never be jealous.”
Hiori laughs, quick and breathy, and Rin feels him getting closer.
“Do you like my attention Rin? I think ya do.” He speaks again and he’s right in Rin’s ear. Close, too close. “I’ve been training with you all the time lately. When I try to spend time with others, you always find a way to stop me.”
Rin realizes he has no way of denying that so he just keeps looking away, feeling Hiori’s breath right by his ear.
“You always stay.” He says finally.
“That’s because I happen to like your attention too.” Hiori admits. “I like knowing I’m the only one ya train with. Voluntarily at least.”
“You…” He’s not entirely sure what to reply to that. He knows Hiori is implying something with his words, something he should be getting, but he cannot fully wrap his head around it.
Rin finally moves his head towards the other, only to find Hiori’s bright blue eyes impossibly close to him.
“Maybe not on the field but…” Hiori’s eyes move down for a second. Rin is not dumb enough to not know what he just looked at. “I am greedy too.”
That’s all the warning that Rin gets before he’s being kissed. Some part of his brain had expected Hiori to be cold, but it’s quite the opposite. He’s very, very warm.
Warm as his lips press against Rin’s. Warm as he lightly pushes him back, making Rin fall onto his back. His head hits the floor, making his vision swim for a second, but Hiori doesn’t seem to care. Rin is now lying down on the floor, Hiori lying on top of him with his legs on both sides of Rin’s waist and his hands pressed to the floor on the sides of his head.
With those same hands Hiori lifts himself up slightly to stare at Rin for a second, that dangerous glint growing in his eyes, making Rin wonder if he should be scared. But then Hiori kisses him again and he forgets what he should even be scared about, because it feels so good.
The bubble of nice and warm feelings is pierced when Hiori suddenly bites his lip.
It doesn’t really hurt, he is just surprised. Rin opens his mouth in reflex and stares at Hiori dumbfounded, while the other just takes the chance to make his way into Rin’s mouth with his tongue.
The kiss is sloppy. Clearly neither of them have ever kissed someone before and at some point it has just turned into Hiori exploring the insides of Rin’s mouth while he just lays there and takes it, breathing shallow thanks to the weight of the other boy, who is not exactly light, laying on his chest.
Hiori bites his lip again, then his tongue. Why is he so fixated on biting? Rin is pretty sure he is not supposed to be doing that but… It’s not like he really minds.
“Look at ya, just laying there and letting me do whatever I wanna.” Hiori mumbles as he lifts himself slightly, breaking the kiss. Rin tries to reply, words dying on his throat when he feels Hiori’s lips on his Adam’s Apple.
A soft kiss, then sucking and biting. Hiori moves slightly to the right and does it again. Rin feels like his head is floating, brain confused with all the mixed signals coming from Hiori’s attention. It feels so good but it hurts too. Does he like it or not? He has no idea.
“Aghh…” He can't help the grunt that escapes his lips at one particularly strong bite. Rin hears Hiori chuckle above him, before cyan eyes move back into his field of vision.
“So cute.” Hiori’s hand moves towards his neck, caressing the bites and blooming hickeys he’s left there himself. “Do ya want me to stop, Rin?”
His brain pleads to say yes. Something about the way Hiori looks at him screams danger. But he ignores it, his hormones too fired up from the slightest bit of attention from the beautiful boy on top of him.
“No.” He whispers, throat moving under Hiori’s hand as he gulps.
“Good.” Hiori replies, smiling. The maniac glint on his eyes is impossible to ignore.
The hand around Rin’s neck tightens, fingers warm against the skin sensitive from the work Hiori’s mouth has already done. The grasp gets tighter and together, pressing down until Rin is gasping from air.
Hiori is choking him. Hiori is fucking choking him. What the hell is wrong with him? Or rather, what is wrong with the both of them? Because as his brain panics looking for air, Rin’s hands find the back of Hiori’s head and pull him down for another kiss.
The edges of his vision are turning black from the lack of air. So why does it feel so good?
Isagi has never really had any trouble sleeping, at least until he came to Blue Lock. The sheer intensity of every day sometimes makes his head spin too much to even consider resting. With the match against the U-20 team quickly approaching, it’s no wonder his brain is keeping him awake again.
So if he’s not gonna sleep, he should at least do something useful. He can’t afford to waste time if he wants to surpass Rin. That’s why he decides to go watch some footage of old matches, hoping to find something to help him improve.
When Isagi arrives, the door is closed. That’s strange, but he doesn’t give it much thought and opens it. Isagi’s brain takes some seconds to process the scene before his eyes, and when he does he wishes he hadn’t.
He didn’t need to see Rin and Hiori kissing on the floor like they’re about to fuck.
They’re both now staring at him, Hiori quickly turning completely red while Rin hides his face by turning his head around.
“Isagi! I- uh- We’re- It’s not-” Whatever excuse Hiori is trying to conjure is clearly not reaching his tongue.
“No, no, no, don’t explain.” Isagi says, crossing his arms in front of him like he’s trying to block the sight. It’s already burned into his brain anyways. “I don’t need to know, I don’t want to know!”
For some more eternal seconds the three of them stay silent, no one moving. Then Isagi decides to leave, closing the door behind him, not without muttering “I won’t tell anyone”.
Both Rin and Hiori know he’s gonna tell Bachira at least, but they don’t really care.
“Y’know? You’re lucky Isagi walked in, ya were running out of air.” And there it is again, that damn smile.
“And you were fucking enjoying that.” Rin replies, still breathless. “What are you, a sadist?”
“Yeah.” Hiori says like he says every other thing, plainly and without hesitation.
“Weirdo.” Rin mutters, looking up into Hiori’s bright eyes. They look so big, like they could swallow him whole.
And Rin would probably let them.
“That makes two of us, don’tcha think?”
“Shut up.”
Hiori laughs again, lighter this time.
“Can’t wait to see how ya hide those hickeys, sweetheart.”
