Chapter Text
Sua Yhang was always quiet. Even as a baby. Her parents would often joke that they believed her to be dead more than once, just because of her stillness. They thought it was a gift. No waking up at 2 AM every day to her cries like they did for her sister, Yuna.
They were pissed when she didn't speak. At all. She understood everything around her well enough, so her parents thought she was just an incessant child rebelling. They must have spent thousands on physicians alone, attempting to get her to speak. It never worked. She was so silent that guests took her as a doll when there were visitors. She was still and quiet, a glass figurine on display, a perfect child to everyone else. Never uttering a word.
That is, until someone moved in next door.
Now itself, Sua can remember the exact date. January 22nd, exactly a month after she had turned 4. A giggling pink-haired girl was playing in her driveway. Sua's mom had dragged her out to meet the neighbors, bringing a bowl of warm, chocolate chip cookies. Sua had known, right then and there, that that girl was the most beautiful person she had ever seen.
Sua, being the little tot she was, could not fathom any world in which that wouldn't be true. So, she walked right up to the girl and told her exactly that.
Mrs. Yhang's mouth dropped wide open. Her older sister scoffed and mumbled, "Lesbian," under her breath. Sua didn't care about what anyone said except for the other girl. She'd blushed and smiled, but still didn't say anything. Sua inhaled quickly, and continued. "My name is Sua Yhang. Nice to meet you."
"My name is Mizi!! Nice to meet you, Sua!"
