Chapter Text
It wasn't long after they all finally settled that the others started to notice Pomni was disappearing for at least a few hours every 'day'. She was often seen heading towards that big blanket tent- everyone knew where she was going, but no one really mentioned it at all.
That was until Ragatha approached her by the sofas- those same seats they had all been around when Caine first lost it, when they learned what happened when they held their breath. When they had realised that the 'escape' was just another adventure, and Jax had acted like he hadn't experienced something just as bad as everyone else. Like it wasn't almost entirely his fault- they might have lost their only chance to go back to the real world.
But that didn't matter anymore. Not now they knew they could never return. And not now that he was curled up in that tent, a black orb with a hundred droopy eyes.
Pomni really realised how much she was lost in thought when Ragatha tapped her on the shoulder.
"Uhh...Pom? You okay?"
Ragatha's accent had always comforted her- it was like something that tied them to their real selves. It had a sense of authenticity- that southern twang played in Pomni's ears like a harp.
"Yeah, I...I'm ok. Just...relieved."
Ragatha's eyes softened. She understood what Pomni meant- although it was scary knowing they were just mere copies of people's minds, it was soothing to know that no one out there was being harmed. But Ragatha also knew that Pomni was worried.
"I know you're scared...scared that he'll never turn back."
Pomni felt incredibly called out. She almost felt a little guilty. After all, Jax had been awful to them for the majority that she had known him. He had insulted them, berated them, even attacked them on some occasions. Pomni could understand if Ragatha was angry that she was spending so much time with that little blob in the tent.
"I'm sorry. I should be spending more time with you guys...I don't why I'm so desperate for you to see him in a better light."
Ragatha sighed softly. She could never be angry with Pomni. She knew that Pomni had gotten really attached to Jax during the firearms mission, and that they had argued. Ragatha had been there when Pomni first tried to turn Jax back, and saw how upset she was when she couldn't do it.
"Don't worry...I get it. You care about the guy. We all want him back, Poms...no matter how much of an ass he is."
Pomni smiled softly. She was internally thrilled that Ragatha wasn't bothered or annoyed by the fact that she was spending time away.
Summoned by the uncensored swearing, Caine popped up. He was still trying to earn all of their trust- albeit struggling at times. It had meant a lot to them when he showed them how their real selves were doing.
"Hey there, Ragatha and Pomni! How ya doin'?"
Pomni smirked a little through her tired eyes. Caine was a little funnier now they didn't have to act or be a certain way. Still, she was a little disappointed that her conversation with Ragatha had been cut off by their ex-ringmaster. Some time after Caine had done talking about redesign of the circus to her and started speaking with Ragatha, Pomni waved to them and headed off.
Headed back to the tent for another go. Another go at trying to get him back.
