Chaos was everywhere with field of lights lit up the street as Gwen yelled his name barreled into Finney's arms like a anchor amidst a storm a rush of officers followed overwhelming him to the point he could barely mumble a basement before the officers moved past him to get inside.
he felt dizzy as Gwen rapidly began to speak, tears of relief overwhelmed him, he looked up dazed almost unbelieving of it all as he saw another group of officers rush him as they began to speak asking questions and trying to get him moving.
voices were blending together till he felt a hand on the small of his back and shoulder urging him forward he didn't even think the very contact burned like a brand reminding him of the grabbers perverse and casual touch of the things he did to him panic set in instantly and without even meaning to he snapped aggressively
"No no don't touch me" Finney hissed as he stumbled forwards to get away from the contact
his world view tilted as he suddenly felt a rush of nausea and dizziness like a wave overwhelming him as he met the ground instantly he was surrounded again as panic began taking over
"He's scared move away your too close " a woman voiced glaring at the officers
"Finney!" Gwen collapsed near him on the grass "Are you okay?"
"Yeah….yeah I'm fine…. sorry" he mumbled softly
he looked to the side and saw the woman bend down next to him close enough to talk but not enough to feel like a blanket of insecurity she had dark blonde hair which was tied up as she gazed at them with her soft and open features, sporting a smile as she began to speak gently
"What's your name?" she said softly
it was rhetorical as every person within 10 miles of Denver Colorado knew who the Grabber was and his four victims including Finney Blake, it still put Finney at ease knowing she cared enough to talk and listen
"Finney… Finney Blake" Finney shyly repeated glancing everywhere except the woman as the officers still lingered around the air waiting, he still felt the cloud of confusion and panic though the haze was lifting
the woman kept her smile plastered on her face as she replied "that's great honey, I'm Diana"
"Like wonder woman?" questioned Gwen
"Yeah like wonder woman" Diana huffed with a laugh, her expression flickered, but she kept her gaze on Finney as she continued "could you do me a favor kid..? could we load you on the stretcher you don't look good we need to make sure you're okay your sister can come its just over there" she gestured broadly to the ambulance a dozen feet away
"I can walk" Finney said flatly
"Of course you can" Diana offered, standing up still flashing that effortless smile
Finney felt blank as he nodded his ascension dumbly as Gwen rose to pull him up they remained glued together by their sides as they began slowly making they're way to the giant red, white car streaming it's lights
Diana instantly ushered them to sit down on the ambulance bays edge it was smaller than Finney imagined and the lights inside began to strain Finney eye, Diana frowned at the and instantly took out a pen light
"Honey" Diana urged softly "I need you too look into the light okay i need to check something"
"Alright" Finney agreed easily turning towards her directly so she could easily flash
Finney still felt dizzy and nausea all the lights and noise was making it worse as it felt like his head was getting hit over and over again with drums or a pair of cymbals
Diana crouched down and shown the light in his eyes Finney instantly struggled to keep his eyes open. Diana frowned almost indiscernibly noticing the non reacting pupils she rose easily before speaking
"Give me a second hon" she walked without another word as she walked over to a man in the same ems uniform as her hovering near the back of the ambulance
"Finney" Gwen urged
"Hm?" Finney hummed
"I was so scared" she said "I thought you we're dead"
Finney turned over to look at Gwen she was staring at him with a star struck look as tears filled her eyes and she embraced him in a hug
"I'm okay Gwen I'm right here and I'm not leaving" he flashed a smile and returned the hug
"How'd you find me" Finney continued to question
"My dreams i saw you an-" before Gwen could finish Diana suddenly returned with a level face and crouched to Finney and Gwen's level
"We need to get you to the hospital Finney" she said apologetically
a pit in Finney stomach already started to form he hated hospitals the lifeless and sterile environment always reminded him of his mothers death the morning his mother was brought in as they desperately tried and failed to save her
Gwen instantly felt on edge with it and didn't wanna make Finney anymore scared or uncomfortable
"Why?" Gwen demanded "We already found him, he's fine he just needs rest.. he just needs to go home and be with his family not go be your pet experiment"
Diana face flattened and remained firm but apologetic
"He needs to go to the hospital and be checked out he's covered in blood and looks like he's concussed"
Finney frowned as he kept his gaze to the ground
Diana continued "Finney we need to go now can you get in the stretcher..? Your sister can come we just need to leave now you don't look so good"
"Yeah.. okay I'll go. will you be with me?" Finney's voice sounded hoarse as he looked at Diana
a smiled overtook her face again as she continued "Of course I'm right here just get in the back and we'll go"
Finney nodded feeling safer again as he looked back to we're the stretcher was Gwen moved out of the ambulance so he could rise, he made to get up again but as soon he did another wave of dizziness and nausea hit anew as he almost fell out of the back of the ambulance before being caught by Diana
"Shit" she swore as she instantly called over her partner as they both loaded Finney onto the stretcher
Finney couldn't bring himself to care about what was happening as he felt a cloud form around him he felt Gwen grab his hand and the loud thud of the door closing before his world began to blacken and unconsciousness threaten to pull him under
"No no kid wake up you can't sleep yet" Diana urged as she shook his shoulder
it was already to late though as the next time Finney closed his eyes his i didn't open and remained that was as everything hit him at once.
