Nightcap

Summary:

Ribbit needs something from Pomni.

Work Text:

Dark brown hair spread across the satin pillows, blinking sleepily up at the bright colored ceiling staring back. Pomni sat up, a sigh escaping her, rubbed her eyes, the soft sound of a ticking clock echoed in her semi empty room. She slipped out of bed, letting the blankets caress the floor lightly, heading towards the door, left without glancing back.

The hallways were long and menacing, watching her pass by, as Pomni got to the kitchen, the darkness ate the light, barely able to register any type of form to comprehend properly.

Pomni squinted reaching a hand at a vague shape of a handle, light burned her eyes, with digital foods greeting her. Pomni felt relief, her shoulders sagged, pulling out an already made sandwich, biting into the bread, humming in appreciation.

A voice startled her, almost making her drop her snack, her eyes landing on a tall frog, thier grin genuine, hopped onto the counter next to the fridge, her nightshirt slipping off her shoulder.

“Why are you up so late? Couldn't sleep properly?” Asks Ribbit, kicking her webbed feet in the air back and forth.

Pomni pauses, setting down her sandwich onto the table next to her, crept closer to Ribbit, caressing her cheek.

“Hey, do you…need a night cap?” Asks Pomni lightly, glancing up at Ribbit curiously, she looked away, feeling shame run in her blood.

“...I think so.” Murmurs Ribbit looked, her voice warbled in pain.

Pomni quietly nods, leans forward, catching Ribbit's mouth in hers. They stayed like that, feeling like hours on end, pulled away, a string of saliva breaking between the two.

Pomni grasps Ribbit’s face once more, checking her soddened expression without judgement.

“Tomorrow lets ditch Caine's adventure.” Pomni suggests, lowering her hands to link up with theirs.

Ribbit gave a small smile, her face tired. “Okay.”

Pomni led Ribbit to her room, guiding them to her bed, laid her down, before descending onto her lithe form, causing a giggle fit. Pomni tugged the blankets around them, its soft touch illuminating their space, causing a safety net to let unspoken words dance among the dark.

In the morning, Ragatha found the two curled into each other, she placed a kiss on their foreheads, leaving without looking back, telling Caine not to disturb them.
