"Hey, you need a spotter?"
Buck pauses mid curl and shudders at the sound of the gruff, gravelly voice echoing round the room.
He's heard it before, on May's video, and is the reason he changed gyms for the day.
Buck subtly searches the room trying to locate him.
"What do you say, eh, darling?"
Buck feels even more repulsed.
The unpleasant man leans over a weight machine occupied by a much younger woman. Buck estimates she's around May's age.
"Let an alpha show you how its done, hmm?"
"Oh, no, we're not accepting that," Buck mutters, as he rolls his eyes in annoyance, and quickly sets his machine back to the reset position.
He's poised to climb off to intervene when he hears another voice.
"Everything okay, Lisa?"
Buck pauses.
This new voice is warm. Captivating. And is almost distracting enough to make Buck forget why he's here.
"Hey, we're talking here," the creepy alpha snarls "which is none of your business."
"Well maybe you were. But now you're not," the enticing voice retorts back - angry yet calm. Buck wonders if he does audio narration, as he could listen to him for hours.
"There's a weight bench in the other room - your last chance," the fascinating voice exclaims.
"No, I'm good here," the alpha rejects the offer.
"Staying in here isn't actually an option… If you don't want the other room, you can leave the whole building."
Buck is already utterly endeared by the new person - designation unknown - and it causes him to almost miss the alpha's face contorting in rage as he storms out. "Whatever. I'll be back."
"And we'll kick you out again," the stranger shouts. "He was unpleasant," he states to the woman.
Buck nods in agreement, and wants to meet the man behind that voice.
"Thanks Eddie," she replies gratefully.
"It's a good job May asked me to be here today," Eddie responds.
Buck does a double take.
He knows there's more than one May in the whole of LA, but to have more than one attend the same gym, to meet the same alpha causing trouble, seems unlikely.
"Or who knows how long he would have bothered you," Eddie continues.
Buck knows he needs to speak up.
"Actually," Buck stands and walks towards Lisa. "I was also about to throw him out. I'm assuming we've a friend in common - May asked me to come here to deal with him."
Lisa nods towards Buck before making eye contact with Eddie.
Buck follows her line of sight.
His jaw drops at the sight of this handsome mustached man standing there - this omega - and his pulse races.
Eddie holds a dumbbell like it weighs nothing, wearing a tight tank top that looks painted on, and Buck needs to know more.
"I was wondering," Buck surprises himself by speaking. "Is it all alphas that are unwelcome here, or just creepy ones?"
Eddie grins. "Why?"
Buck sends silent thanks to May, before acknowledging Eddie. "Do you need a spotter?"
