The Battle of Haven was finally over. Everyone was completely drained by the end of it, Weiss and Nora especially, as they received heavier amounts of damage. Jaune, thankfully, was able to resuscitate Weiss.
Once they all got back to the three-story house that they were staying at, they put away their weapons, and retreated into different parts of the house. Only after having a conversation with Ozpin of course. So far, the next plan of action was Atlas, something that Weiss was not pleased with at all.
But at least everything is quiet tonight.
Blake’s insomnia is a terrible curse. It keeps her awake while everyone else is asleep, leaving her alone with her thoughts. And Blake despises her late night thoughts.
She leans against the railing along the expanse of the rear patio’s edge, arms on top of one another.
Being back with her teammates is really weird. It's almost like she's somewhere she shouldn't be.
There's still a lot of catching up to do.
Sun immediately made himself right at home and claimed a couch on the second floor. He's known them all since Beacon, so he didn't have a problem reconnecting. Kind of.
To be fair, their appearances were very unexpected.
And Yang, understandably, was still pissed at Blake’s return. Blake didn't blame her of course.
Someone who shows up unexpectedly after running away from someone who lost their arm because of them does stuff to people.
So, they avoided each other for the rest of the night after their small reunion at Haven.
The faunus’ chest heaved with a big sigh. It was probably going to stay that way for a while… unfortunately.
“Hey, Blake.”
Or not.
She was too busy sulking to notice the blonde huntress' footsteps. Blake's ears drooped slightly. “Hi, Yang...” she trailed off lamely.
Yang walked over and leaned against the fencing beside her, her shoulders tense and her eyes forward, looking down at Mistral below.
Neither of them spoke yet. They basked in the awkward silence.
Blake had rehearsed this conversation in her head every single day ever since she fled.
After a while, the dark haired faunus took a deep breath and prepared herself for the inevitable. She might as well.
"I'm sorry, Yang."
Yang kept quiet.
"I thought.. I thought that maybe if I left, I wouldn't get anyone else hurt. You all have every right to be upset at me. You especially. I'm such a coward..." Her voice wavered near the end, her feline ears pinned back further against her head. "I'm not asking for you to forgive me, I just need you to know that I am sorry. For everything."
For a second, it looked like Yang was getting ready to punch something, anything, before her shoulders relaxed altogether. Yang sighed heavily, "I get why you ran, now. It took me a while to understand. I was so, so mad. At You. At Adam.. You were just scared and didn't know what to do."
Blake blinked. She was not expecting this at all.
Yang stepped away from the rails, "It hurt when you left.” She finally turned and faced Blake. “A lot. But I spent a whole entire year being angry at everything, so... I kind of get it now: being so overwhelmed and anxious that you just… sort of shut down completely.”
Blake directed her attention to those metal fingers. She never let herself get a good look at her new arm. It just made her feel guilty all over again.
She stiffened when she felt a pair of arms embrace her tightly.
“I… I really missed you, Blake.”
Her hands hovered awkwardly, before she settled them on Yang’s back, feeling the coarse fabric of her brown jacket. She struggled against the lump that appeared in her throat, “I-I missed you too.”
“Oh, this is so awesome! Team RWBY is officially back in business!” Ruby exclaimed. The four were wide awake in the morning before any of the others. Ruby was absolutely ecstatic once she found out that Yang and Blake were on good terms again.
“You know it!”
“Ruby, Yang, my ears. Please... It's way too early.” Weiss complained.
The shorter huntress stuck her tongue out at the heiress. Well, ex-heiress. “Too bad.”
Blake smiled at the exchange. She definitely missed this while she was in Menagerie. Sorry mom and dad…
Yang and Weiss spotted Sun making his way down the stairs to talk to them.
Her face flushed when Ruby slid her hand into Blake's. Silver eyes suddenly stared lovingly up at golden ones.
Team RWBY really was back together again. Blake wouldn't have it any other way.
