Between You and Me

Summary:

Nya was freaked out by this place. Duplicate men who run a secret underground bunker, disguised as a happy, friendly neighborhood, while lying to all its residence about their past realms being destroyed?

Plus the fact that she had to work with her semi-ex-amnesiac fiance who hated her guts to find the missing parents of one of her runaway students?

Work Text:

Throughout Nya’s life, she’s been to weird places. A secret evil counterpart of Ninjago? Check. A digital video game that sucks players in and takes their lives when they die? Check. Even recently, she’d help free a dystopian city from the clutches of a dictator. She had her fair share of weirdness, but this, this was weird.
The Land of Lee was nice and all, a refuge for scattered people, lost in the merged realms, who lived in duplicate bungalows in a neighborhood sheltered underground with a fake sun to signal day and night. Everyone seemed happy here, well, to her knowledge. There seemed to be a community, and it seemed like a normal neighborhood. That was all until it came to Lee, the guy, or guy’s, in charge of this place. A middle aged man, with a receding hairline, red oxford shirt and the creepiest smile Nya had ever seen, and trust, she’s seen plenty of those. And the fact Lee could somehow duplicate himself in hundreds, his face and eyes everywhere? Yeah. Creepy.

Nya followed the others as a Lee led them into their ‘starter’ home. A two bedroom-two- bathroom dream. Lee told them they could upgrade to a two floored gingerbread version that was in a different section of the land, but Nya assured him that would be unnecessary, despite Wyldfyre’s protests. Nya was starting to slightly regret bringing Wyldfyre along with them. She was still learning to control her heat powers and her own behaviour at that matter. She was only fifteen, Nya had to remind herself, this was in her nature. Still, the possibility of Wyldfyre getting slightly pissed off and burning down this entire place was still probable. She needed to keep an eye on her.
“Thank you, Lee, this place is wonderful,” Lloyd said, shaking Lee’s hand.

Nya was thankful to have Lloyd here with her. He was calm, level-headed and was surprisingly great at improv. She was also glad to have at least someone from the original team, someone she’s known for over a decade now. Though, she couldn’t help but slightly stress about him. She knew he’d been struggling with sleep and his own mental health for a bit now, especially since both of his students ran away. She’d probably have to keep an eye on him as well.
“It’s wonderful to have some new, new neighbors! Expanding Lee’s community is Lee’s goal! We’re so happy to have you here!” The Lee clutched Lloyd’s hand tighter, flashing that white, toothy smile and staring so hard, Nya was convinced his eyes were about to pop out any second.

“Y-yeah!” Lloyd replied, tugging his hand away slightly, Lee’s hand in return not moving a budge.
“I hope you all enjoy your stay here!” Lee said, finally letting go of Lloyd’s hand and looking at the rest of the new residents, “I will see you all around! Or well, one of me will see you all!”
Lloyd gave an uncomfortable laugh, giving Lee his goodbyes as the front door finally shut, the multiplying man finally making his leave.
Lloyd sighed leaning against the door.
“I don’t trust that guy,” Nya said, crossing her arms.
“Really? He seemed sweet!” Wyldfyre responded, Nya couldn’t even guess if she was being sarcastic or not.
“Well, we won’t be here for long,” Lloyd made sure to lock the front door, “We’ll spend the next week or so looking for Arin’s parents. Just, whatever you do, don’t get caught. I have a feeling Lee isn’t exactly the friendly kind.”
As the three settled in, the fourth member of their little crew came out of one of the rooms.
“I couldn’t find any mic’s or cameras of any sort,” The man clad in a tan blouse and brown suspenders said.

Jay. The soul-shattered, bounty-hunting, memory-erased, ex-fiance of Nya’s. He leaned against one of the walls, across from the fridge that was filled with apple juice cartons with Lee’s dazzling face on the cover. The only reason they were dragging him along was because he was the only one with knowledge the Land of Lee even existed in the first place. At some point during the merge, Jay had ended up in a bureaucratic society called ‘The Administration’, working as an agent with no memory of his past life and his past relationships. Now, he was a money driven, piece of shit, bounty hunter that only cared about himself. Still, Lloyd had promised him almost five-thousand dollars for his help, a deal Jay couldn’t turn down.

“Well, that’s good, at least we know we’re not being watched,” Nya responded, taking a seat on a couch arm, her hands on her knees.
“What time did Lee say the ‘sun’ goes down?” Lloyd asked, using air quotes around the word sun.
“8pm?” Nya responded by checking the clock above the door. 4:32pm.
“Well, that gives us time to settle in. We’ll sleep at 8.”
“8?! That’s so early! My bed time is 9!” Wyldfyre protested, laying on the kitchen floor.
“I know, but I want us all to get the best sleep we can,” Lloyd sighed, walking away from the front door, standing next to Wyldfyre.
“That’s rich coming from you,” The fiery teen responded.
Nya and Wyldfyre looked around the bungalow, checking the sheets, the house set up, even the mini basement while Jay and Lloyd went out to go to the ‘Lee Market’ to buy food other than the starter apple juices and chicken nuggets.
The front door shut, signalling Jay and Lloyd’s return, both of them holding a bag, which of course, had Lee’s face on it.
“This guy really likes putting himself out there”, Nya muttered.
“You should see the market, he’s everywhere,” Lloyd responded, taking out different fruits and microwavable foods.
“What did you guys get me?” Wyldfyre asked, excitedly jumping to Lloyd’s side.
Everyone got seated as Lloyd threw some pizza pops into a bowl and heated them inside the microwave for about a minute.
“Pizza pops are the best!” Wyldfyre exclaimed, leaning back in her chair, much to Nya’s disapproval.
“Pizza pops make you fat,” Jay responded, eyeing the loud teenager.
“You’re fat!” Wyldfyre shoved a finger in his face.
“Enough, let’s just all have a peaceful dinner, alright?” Lloyd responded, taking the tray out of the microwave, his hands adorned with large red gloves, similar to Lee’s shirt.

Dinner was silent for about three minutes before Wyldfyre began complaining about how the pizza pops weren’t the flavour she liked. This was going to be a long mission.
Jay tried turning on the TV but the only programs it had were soapy dramas and maddening game shows. There was no news channel, the radio only played pop songs that were much outdated. Nya even pointed out how the game-show was from over 8 years ago.

“It seems like Lee isn’t playing anything new, probably to help with his cover up story,” Lloyd replied, taking a sip out of the earl tea he brewed.
Nya nodded. She remembered how when they first arrived here, Lee had told them that the rest of the world had been destroyed from the Merge. That was how he was most likely keeping all these people from running away. She had to admit, his attention to details was certainly something.
Everyone finished their food, Wyldfyre taking a seat next to Lloyd on the couch, the two of them watching the game-show. Well, Wyldfyre was ranting about something incoherent and Lloyd looked completely out of it.

Nya was placing the dirty dishes into the sink before Jay came to her side, “It seems like the sun is going down.”
He was right. As Nya peeked out of the front door, she saw the large mechanical sun slowly go downwards around the dome sky, a bright mechanical moon replacing its spot. The dome was no longer a bright blue with painted clouds, but a dark navy with scattered dots. She also noticed how the children that were playing soccer in the streets had broken up, each of them heading back to their replicate houses.

“Looks like it’s night then,” Nya locked the door with a click!
“I’m not even tired!” Wyldfyre protested, shaking Lloyd’s shoulder, who finally snapped back to reality.
“I want everyone to be as energised as possible tomorrow. We have to begin looking for Arin’s parents. And looking around this place as well.”
“Agreed,” Nya responded.
Lloyd got off of the couch, “Me and Wyldfyre will share one of the rooms, then.”
Wyldfyre groaned and followed his motion.
As he turned around, Nya got the quickest smirk on his face. If she didn’t need him, she would’ve punched him right there and then.
Just before Lloyd could head into the room, Nya tugged his arm.
“What do you think you’re doing?!”
“What do you mean?” He responded, cluelessly, but Nya had known him long enough to know he was covering up a smile.
“Wouldn’t it make more sense for me and Wyldfyre to be together?”
“Uh, I thought it was normal for married couples to sleep in the same room,” He said, pointing to the ceiling, “What if Lee’s watching? That would completely blow our cover story!”
“You have GOT to be kidding me, Lloyd,” Nya groaned, letting go of his sleeve.
“Look, this could be a good start to trying to get his memories back!” Lloyd smiled, holding her shoulders, “Just try to talk to him as much as possible.”
“He hates me! You’ve heard him say it!”
“Right now it seems like he hates everyone. Maybe the first step is the two of you getting close again!”
“Whatever,” She sighed, shaking her head.

The two bid goodnight, and Lloyd shut the door behind himself, leaving Nya alone in the hallway, which had randomly assorted photos on the walls, most of them capturing the Land of Lee. She decided to go into the second bedroom which was right across from the other. Jay must’ve still been in the main entrance as he wasn’t in the room. Nya sighed and looked around. One large bed, a TV, a closet and a large painting of an ocean above the bed. She noticed how on the bed there was something folded. She picked up the cloth, and it appeared to be a green pajama blouse with matching shorts. Next to the clothes was a perfectly folded card with a red star holding it together. Nya opened the card to read what it said;

Hello, new neighbors! We’re so excited to have you here! With how you have no return to your previous home, we’ve assorted custom made sleeping garments fit to your size! If you’re unhappy with the styling, no worries! You can always come visit our Apparel Factory which runs entirely on LEE’S!! We hope your stay is an amazing one!
Lee :)

With how Lee somehow figured out her sizing, Nya decided to ignore the thought creeping her out. She changed into the pajamas and laid down on the bed, which was surprisingly very comfortable. She took a sigh before closing her eyes, allowing sleep to overcome her.

Nya awoke to the smell of bacon. She rubbed her eyes, and rolled over, still laying down. Next to her was her fiance. He was sitting upwards, his phone in his hand, seeming to just be scrolling. His short brown hair was ruffled, and he was in a crappy Fritz Donnegan tee. He noticed her and smiled, putting his phone down.
“Morning.”
Nya yawned, returning the smile, “Hi.”
“You were asleep for a while,” he said, leaning his head against the headboard.
“You know I love to sleep in,” she chuckled.
“The others are making breakfast right now.”
“Who is?”
“Cole and Lloyd.”
Nya groaned, “That’s going to be a disaster.”
“Zane can’t cook every day.”
“I know but I’d rather have my brother cook over those two.”
“Zane should give us all cooking lessons.”
Nya scoffed, rolling on her back, “Didn’t he try years ago and Lloyd almost burned down the Bounty?”
“He was like nine!”
Nya rolled her eyes.
Jay leaned in, a smirk on his face, “You’re not exactly a master chef either.”
“Neither are you.”
“I can make good grilled cheese.”
Nya rolled her eyes again and sat up, resting her head on her fiance’s head.
“Do you want to go get food?” Jay asked, pulling his phone back out, resting his head over top of hers.
“In a bit. Can we just stay like this for a bit?”
“Of course.”

Nya woke alone, the fake sun glowing through the window. When she recognised that she was no longer in her fiance’s bedroom, but inside a cold, silent and deserted room in the Land of Lee, she had to push tears back. She changed back into her original outfit from yesterday, a white tank top, green flannel shirt and khaki pants. The ‘My Name Is’ sticker was still on top of her shirt, the fake name ‘Maya’ scribbled on the white box. Maya McCoolGuy. Her alias, a cover up for who she actually was. Maya McCoolGuy was a kind, polite and sweet woman, Nya reminded herself. She’s excited to be a new part of the community, alongside her family friends Doyll and Firewild and with her husband, who she has been with for a few years now.
Nya took one look at herself in the bathroom mirror, which was hooked up right with the bedroom. She tied her black hair back in a high ponytail before exiting the room.
The others were all in the kitchen, Wyldfyre munching down on a croissant. Lloyd was flipping through something, it looked like a map or panel of some sort. Jay was the first to notice her.
“Finally. We’re all awake now,” He said, hitting Lloyd’s arm.
“Oh, good,” Lloyd folded the paper and placed it on the table.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to sleep in,” Nya apologized, sitting next to Wyldfyre.
“No, no, it’s alright. As long as you’re energized as possible,” Lloyd said, nodding.
“Are you as energized as possible?” Nya asked Lloyd, taking a bit of Wydlfyre’s croissant.
“Of course.”

On the front porch, Lloyd told everyone the plan: attend different community events, tell citizens you are looking for the Niveds and avoid being caught by Lee. Seems simple enough. Wyldfyre decided to check out a local barbeque and Lloyd a bookclub. Jay was still trying to decide if he wanted to go with either Wyldfyre or Nya before Lloyd intervened, telling him that it would make more logical sense if the married couple was together, much to Nya’s protest.
The two decided on checking out a needlepoint class that was being held at one of the citizens' duplicate bungalows. As they walked through the neighborhood, Nya looked down at the map Lloyd supplied her, following the directions to the address.

“It should be held at the first house in the next block,” Nya said, waving to a person that passed her.
“All this walk just for some shitty needlepoint class?” Jay responded, shaking his head.
“What, is your leg still broken or something?” Nya snapped back, growing quite sick of his snarky comments.
“My leg is just fine. I’m just done with this place.”
“Well, you’re going to have to put up with it if you want your payment.”
“Greenie better have my payment ready as soon as we get out of here.”
“He will,” Nya said, doubting herself.

The married couple arrived at the house, which had a small circle of people sitting at the table on the porch. On the table there were canvas’s, thread and yearn, scissors and a box of gummies, with a certain someone’s face plastered on the box.
One woman, with a bleached blonde bob and large green glasses sitting on her face, lit up when she saw the two.
“Hello, new neighbours!”
Nya smiled awkwardly as she took a seat across from the woman, “Hello.”
The woman extended her hand, to shake Nya’s, her long, dark red nails digging into Nya’s skin.

“You two must be the newly weds, McCoolguys, right?”
“Uh, yeah!”
“Oh my gosh, aren’t you two the cutest couple!”
Nya nodded.
“I wish my husband would come to needlepoint classes, ugh.”
The woman rolled her eyes and huffed before passing canvases to every attendant, “Anywho’s, let’s get started on some needle-pointing!”
The two strangers next to her clapped and smiled.
“My name is Ellen, by the way. Ellen Q, since we already have Ellen H at this table!”
A pink Merlopian next to Ellen Q waved her fishy hand, smiling.
“Alright, well since you two are new to this class, I’ll teach you the basics. Right now, we’re working on stitching cute little teddy bears!”
“Oh, I love teddy bears,” Jay said.
“So do I! My daughter is going through a phase right now. Literally everything has to have teddy bears on it!” Ellen Q sighed, moving her arms around animatedly.
“Oh, you have a daughter? How old?” Nya asked, taking her some brown thread in front of her.
“Six. I had her just before the merge…you know, destroyed everything.”
“Oh, right,” Nya nodded, remembering these people were still under the impression that all of Lee’s little lies were truths.
“Do you have kids? Is that red haired girl your daughter?”
“What? No, no, that’s my niece!”
“Oh! Is the blonde man your brother?”
“Yes, no, uh, kinda.”
Ellen Q raised an eyebrow, confused by Nya’s complicated familial-platonic-friend-sibling relationship with Lloyd.
“Um, no, Doyll is my family friend, but I’ve known him since he was a kid so he’s like my brother.”
“Oh, so cute! Is the red haired girl his?”
At this point, Nya was just trying to keep her laugh from escaping, “No, they’re siblings.”
“So…Doyll is like your brother, and the girl is like your sister then?”
“No, Firewild is my niece.”
“Firewild and Doyll do look nothing alike,” Ellen Q said, chuckling.
“Uh, that’s because they have different dads!” Nya responded, internally begging for this conversation to end because she was starting to run out of lies.
“Really?! Oh, wow, what’s the story behind that?”
“Uh, Doyll is older by, uh, 6 years? And Doyll’s dad left him and his mom when he was like, uh, 10.”
“Oh my golly goodness! Why is that?”
“Well, uh, he left because he died.”
“Oh my goodness golly!”
“Yeah, so then Doyll’s mom met Nya’s brother and they had Firewild,” Jay said, poking his canvas with some nearby needles.
Oh, First Spinjitzu Master, Nya thought.
“Oh! So Doyll is technically your nephew too!”
Nya just stared at Ellen Q.

Luckily, the rest of the class wasn’t a complete disaster. They were able to change the topic and got to ‘needle-pointing’. Nya wasn’t too bad at it, but Jay gave up after 15 minutes. Nya actually completely forgot the reason why they were even there. This whole thing was actually kind of fun. The first bits of fun Nya’s had in a really, really long time. Even though he would never admit it, she saw flashes of smiles on Jay’s face. Light in his eyes. She hadn’t seen that either in a really, really long time. Not since the night before the merge. Nya looked over at Jay who seemed to be already looking in her direction. He looked back at his wrecked canvas, his ears turning a light pink. Nya chuckled to herself. She knew that look, that action, that embarrassment. He spent a good chunk of his teenage years doing that.

Lloyd absolutely hated this place. He hated the fake sun, the fake plants, the fake sky. He was convinced the air was probably fake as well. And the fakest thing in this whole place? Lee.
Lloyd was absolutely convinced that Lee, or Lee’s, or whatever, were following him. It all started when Lloyd was about to go check out the book club and took out his container of B12 vitamins before leaving his little porch.
“What are those?”
Lloyd was convinced he almost jumped out of his skin. He jolted around to be face to face with Lee. Or a Lee. Whatever.
He of course had that toothy white grin plastered on his face, his blue eyes seemingly looking in opposite directions, his hands behind his back. Lloyd was a ninja, he was supposed to be doing the sneaking!
“Oh! Lee! Hey!”
“What are those little candies? One of our popular Lee-drops? Raspberry blast or Strawberry sea?”
“Uh, no. They’re…B12 vitamins?”
“What is a B12 vitamin?”
“It’s a candy…that gives your body energy?"
“Oh, delicious! What flavour? Raspberry sea? Strawberry blast? Ooh, wait, maybe a blue raspberry bomb?”
Lloyd looked at the container which had two strawberries and an orange slice plastered on top, “A…combo?”
“Oh, wonderful! Delicious, Mmm. I’m so deprived of sweets I could eat that whole container right now!”
“Me too, Lee. Anyways, um, I have a book club session I should be getting too, so, uh, see you later?”
“Alright, Doyll,” he placed his hands on his hips, “I’ll Lee you later!”
With a quick wink, Lee was gone, and Lloyd practically speed ran to his destination.

That wasn’t the end of it. After Lloyd got his assigned book, Between You and Lee, he headed back to the bungalow to drop it off and so he could go check up on Wyldfyre, who was at a backyard BBQ, just to make sure she didn’t accidentally blow the whole thing up, he bumped into a certain someone. And right there, trimming his bushes was a certain somebody.
“Hi, Lee.”
Lee turned around quickly (a little too quickly) and jumped back on his feet, two of his clones looking over at their direction.
“Doyyyyllll! My man, my man, my man! Back so soon?”
“Yeah. I got my book.”
“Oh, ‘Between You and Lee’! Classic! Did you know we’re adapting that into a cartoon because it’s that big here? Oh, this? Oh, don’t mind us. We were just trimming your bushes! We’re finished now!”
The three Lee’s scurried away, loppers in their hands.

When Lloyd entered the house, he was about to place the absurdly thick novel on the table before noticing a yellow note was on top of it.

Hey, McCoolguys and Donamagers! We noticed your house was a little dirty, so we spruced it up a little! ENJOY YOUR STAY!!

-Lee :)

This was getting ridiculous.

Lloyd decided to take his book outside, sitting on the table, and flipping through the pages. Who was this guy? How was he able to duplicate himself, how was he able to build this place, how was he able to gaslight all these people into thinking their home was destroyed? Seriously, did not one citizen think that this whole place seemed a little fishy? Did nobody ask questions?
Another question, but how did nobody recognise him? Most of the people here appeared to be human, most of them had kids. There had to be someone from Ninjago here. Lloyd had been a face of the public since what, 9 years old? Sure, he looked a little different from when he was a teenager, but not that different. Nya looked the exact same from 5 years ago. Jay looked similar enough. Why had no one pointed that out or even questioned them?
The book didn’t provide many answers, it was mostly just an autobiography explaining all of Lee’s achievements in life, but none of them predated the merge. Paragraphs and paragraphs explaining what Lee’s favourite type of salad was, just for it to turn out he doesn’t even like salad.

As Lloyd shut the book, a familiar red haired teen slid from behind one of the pillars.
“Lloyd,” Wyldfyre said, a smug look on her face, “Being the slyest clue finder ever, I got something.”
Lloyd’s green eyes lit up, “About Arin’s parents?”
“Not really but maybe. I found a neighbor who has some ideas about what’s really going on down here, and he’s ready to expose Lee’s secrets.”
Lloyd’s brows furrowed. So there was someone down here who was suspicious of Lee as well.

Lloyd got out of his chair and followed Wyldyfre who was cautiously looking around. She led him to a replica bungalow not far from their own.
“This is where he said to meet,” Wyldfyre said.
Lloyd climbed the steps, and knocked on the red door. Almost immediately, someone opened the door.
“Lee!”
“That’s my name,” The man sang, “Isn’t it a delight to say? Just rolls of the tongue.”
“Uh, didn’t know this was your house,” Wyldfyre announced.
“It’s not. Just getting it ready for its next tenant.”
“What happened to the last tenant?” Lloyd interrogated, feeling sweat gather around his temples.
“Moved to cavern 5. Huge waterslide fan. Everyone’s allowed to move wherever they want.”
“I see. Well, we won’t keep you.”

The two ninja walked back to their bungalow, Lloyd’s suspicions were coming true.
“The guy that lived here was going to blow the whistle on Lee!” Wyldfyre muttered, covering her mouth.
“And Lee just made him disappear."

Nya was having one of the best afternoons in a while. She and Jay had decided to go check out an ice cream social where Jay had won the two of them a tub of bubble gum ice cream, thanks to Jay being able to beat another attendant at finishing a bowl in under 20 seconds.
The two of them sat on a bench, a little away from the crowds of people.

Nya was working on finishing her cone of mint flavour, the taste both refreshing and nostalgic. It reminded her of when they were still teenagers. Lloyd was still really young, being 13. Nya and Jay were 17. The original team had all decided to go to Mega Monster Amusement park on one of their free days.
“Okay, we have 12 dollars left, that means we can all go on one more ride,” Nya’s brother, Kai said, counting coins in his hand. He was young too at the time, 19.
“The drop tower!” Cole said, grabbing Lloyd’s shoulders.
“Nooo!”
“C’mon, Lloyd, it’s not even that bad!”
“It’s like 200 feet!”
“You’ve jumped off buildings higher than that,” Zane pointed out, still eating some of his hot dog.
“Yeah, Lloyd, and look, that 5 year old over there is going on it!” Jay pointed to a nearby child that was on the ground near the tower wailing.
“If Jay can go on it, so can you,” Cole said, which earned him a shove by Jay.
“You don’t need to if you don’t want to,” Nya said, giving Lloyd a smile.
Lloyd folded his arms and looked at the ground, contemplating. He gave the tower one more glance and sighed. “Fine.”
The team cheered and dragged him to the tower, chanting his name.
They traded in their coins and got seated, Lloyd sitting next to Nya.
Jay was on her right, and leaned forward to poke Lloyd’s arm, who told him to stop.
As the tower slowly reached the top, Nya looked over to her right at Jay who smiled at her mischievously, before poking onto Lloyd’s arm again.
Lloyd looked extremely stressed and was holding onto Nya’s hand for the life of him. After a third poke he looked over to Jay.
“What?!”
“You have something on your face!”
“What-”
Before Lloyd could react, the cart dropped, Nya couldn’t stop laughing from both adrenaline and from Lloyd’s high pitched screams of terror.
When they got off Lloyd scolded Jay for distracting him, before Jay offered to buy him a treat as a reward.
They all got ice cream, Lloyd getting his favourite, bubble gum. Jay shared his treat with Nya, who had enough sugar for the day.
“Lloyd is officially a man,” Jay said, shaking Lloyd’s head.
“Okay, okay I get it!”

The taste of mint remained, even when Nya snapped back to the present.
“Should we head back?” The current Jay asked, waving a hand in front of her face.
“Oh, uh, yeah. Probably should,” Nya got off the bench.
The two said bye to all the attendees, Nya got one more lick of her ice cream before throwing the empty cup out.
When they unlocked the door, the house was dark and empty.
“Where’s the kid and greenie?” Jay asked, turning on a light switch.
“Maybe they already went to bed?”
“It’s only 6.”
Nya checked inside Lloyd and Wyldfyre’s bedroom, the room completely empty.
“They could still be out,” Jay responded, shrugging.
“I guess…” Nya yawned, “Who knew ice cream could be so tiring?”
“Says you, I’m the one who had to eat a bowl in 10 seconds.”
“You didn’t have to, you chose to.”
“Hey, that guy dared me, I wasn’t about to turn down a dare.”
“Whatever. Put that tub in the freezer.”
Nya tried to brush her teeth but the taste of mint returned, as well as the memories. She sighed, put down the brush and just combed her hair instead. She changed into the green pajamas Lee had gifted her and settled into the bed, informing Jay she was done with the bathroom.
After a long day of socializing, reminiscing and eating, she fell asleep almost immediately, Jay following her suite.
What the two of them didn’t know is that both Wyldfyre and Lloyd wouldn’t come home that night.
