Purple Skys and Eternity

To: The Traveler & Piamon.

From: Empress Lady Guji Yae Miko, of Inazuma city.

————-

Dearest Traveler and Piamon,

I once again write to you, in hopes of gaining your assistance in a matter I fear has been prolonged long enough. I cannot express how much i have held this matter off, and hesitated to ask for your aid.

A matter that I fear will have the Nation of Inazuma fall to her knees. A matter I feel that will re-write the laws of this world and its future to come. Though, I must express that this problem was created by the hands of me and High Empress Raiden Ei.

You do remember when I last spoke over tea about the story of the lost prince, the one who was casted away because they failed to exceed the expectations? That I fear was no mere myth, but rather a tale based on the event of my son.

Despite his name being long forgotten in the ley lines that corse through the city, a tale to scare young kits to follow their parents expectations,  has now began to resurface.

Over the course of a few weeks, acting as this nation’s archon, iv received lettered from the other current archons, explaining of strange weather mishaps and knowledge corrupting the minds of their people. And after continues research, I fear that my child has grown in power and begun to spread their evils upon the world.

I know alone I cannot stop him for his mishaps, and…. With my beloved missing,  I fear for the wellbeing of this nation.

So as I address this to you and your travel guid,  I beg you lend me, or rather,  Inazuma, your help to save this world from evil. As a friend, I beg you help me keep the last thing most dear to me.

-Sincerely

High Empress Lady Guji Yae Miko.

—————-

Yae Miko set her brush down, her hands trembling slightly as she admired the open space around her. She was seated at one of the sacred shrines dedicated to the Shogun, the wind softly rustling her elegant kimono as she stood and walked up the stone steps to the shrine's entrance. She’d sit there for hours on end and admire her beloved Shogun and reminisce about the time she had with her. Like the moment Miko gave her a son. An Heir. That day, the sky was clear and calm, the waves smooth and steady, and the nation happy. After a long and hard birth, Miko was content with the small family she had gained, even if it did take her 500 years. It was all in the past now, but even then, she would often reminisce the day she brought their son into the world. It had been a long and tiresome process. But when the moment Yae Miko heard the cry of her child, the pain and the restlessness seems to slip away. The world froze over, contained in the grand birthing rooms of the palace as the maid placed the young boy, whom born a month early, onto her racing chest. He was small, smelly, covered in archons know what, and non the less, looked exactly like Ei. Not an ounce of the pink haired kitsune in sight.

———-

”Kunikuzushi..” The High Empress Raiden Ei whispered.  “Kunikuzushi? ‘country Destroyer’?” Miko questioned, her arms carefully wrapped around the small newborn, his body wrapped in cloth.  She had been taken back by such a violent name for such a helpless creature. “Yes… he shall be— an might fine warrior..” Ei whispered.

She studied his small patch of purple hair and fare skin, a constant reminder of how little Miko’s genes worked. Ei nodded and allowed her new born son to grab into her pinky, his fists squeezing gently. In Ei’s eyes, her son had become something she wanted to hone, to make an image of, all while raising him to be a ruler, maybe even exceed her legacy one day.

Miko stared at her momentarily, then glanced back with a small scoff and shook he head. Her tired ears flicked back before she leaned against her lover,  her body exhausted from giving birth. “Very well…Raiden Kunikuzushi… welcome to the world little one…” Yae Miko mumbled and placed a small kiss onto his forehead.

———

Those were the days she cherished the most, the happy times before her family fell  apart. Before the day Ei turned cold and resentful. Before the day Miko cried in anguished when she learned of the abandonment of her son. And Before the day she watched her beloved wife leave to fulfill an unreachable desire. The Quest for Eternity.

But that all happened years ago. 500 years ago to be exact when the age of gods and goddesses were at its highest. But that was all on the past now, until it wasn’t. The empress allowed herself a moment to reminisce about the past and the future of her country before she began to write.

The wind blew gently, carrying delicate pink cherry blossom petals across the vanilla paper letter the High Empress Lady Yae Miko was meticulously crafting. Each petal seemed to dance with the memories that spanned centuries, memories that clung to her heart like a bittersweet melody, reminding her of the Shogun's enduring absence and the fear of her son.

Miko, despite having to carry a whole nation on her shoulders and practically being ghosted for 500 years by her one true lover, always found time to write letters, even if that meant she would never see her again. But now, the place she called home was in danger of the one thing she and her had created. With a fearful sigh, The Empress began to write.

“To my Beloved wife,…”

It began. And oh boy did it begin
