Work Text:

Ever since Jun and Dylan had become inseparable, everyone on campus knew one thing:

If you were looking for Dylan Zhou, you would find Jun Tangsakultham nearby.

And if you were looking for Jun, Dylan was probably already attached to his sleeve.

It was normal.

At least, for them.

Unfortunately, not everyone understood that.

The new alpha's name was Kai.

Tall, confident, handsome, and completely unable to take a hint.

The first time Kai approached Dylan, the omega barely looked at him.

"You're Dylan Zhou, right?"

"...Yes."

"I'm Kai."

"Okay."

Kai blinked.

That was all?

No smile.

No interest.

Nothing.

Dylan simply continued reading his book.

Don't care that Kai literally stand in front of him.

---

Most people would have given up.

Kai didn't.

The next day, flowers appeared on Dylan's desk.

Dylan gave them to a classmate.

The day after that, Kai bought him coffee.

Dylan handed it to Jun.

The following week, Kai asked him out.

Dylan rejected him immediately.

"No."

"Why not?"

"I'm not interested."

"Give me a chance."

"No."

Simple.

Direct.

Cold.

Unfortunately, Kai interpreted rejection as a challenge.

Which made everything worse.

One afternoon, the entire campus witnessed the disaster.

Students gathered around the courtyard as Kai stood in front of Dylan holding a bouquet of roses.

Dylan already looked annoyed.

Very annoyed.

Kai took a deep breath.

"Dylan Zhou!"

Several students immediately stopped walking.

"Oh no."

"Not again."

"I think this is the fifth time."

Kai ignored everyone.

"I like you!"

The courtyard became silent.

Dylan stared.

Kai continued.

"Please go out with me!"

Whispers erupted everywhere.

Dylan pinched the bridge of his nose.

Then answered without hesitation.

"No."

Kai froze.

"You didn't even think about it."

"I already did."

"And?"

"No."

The crowd started laughing.

Kai's face reddened.

"But why?"

Dylan sighed.

Because apparently nobody listened.

"I already like someone."

The courtyard became even quieter.

Kai's eyes widened.

"Who?"

Dylan's expression softened immediately.

Something everyone noticed. Something that only happened when he thought about one person.

"...Jun."

The entire crowd turned toward the library entrance.

Where Jun happened to be standing.

Watching everything.

Jun froze.

Dylan froze.

The crowd collectively lost their minds.

Meanwhile, Kai looked devastated.

But he still refused to stop.

Over the following weeks, Kai became increasingly persistent.

Messages.

Gifts.

Confessions.

Attempts to spend time together.

Every single one rejected.

Every single one ignored.

Dylan remained completely uninterested.

Jun noticed everything.

And something strange started happening.

The usually soft alpha became...

Protective.

Whenever Kai approached, Jun appeared.

Whenever Kai sat beside Dylan, Jun quietly took the seat first.

Whenever Kai tried talking to Dylan alone—

Jun somehow ended up there too.

One afternoon, Dylan blinked as Jun casually pulled his chair closer.

"...Jun."

"What."

"You're sitting really close."

Jun didn't even look up.

"So?"

Dylan smiled.

A little.

The truth was—

Jun hated it.

He hated watching another alpha constantly chase Dylan.

Not because he didn't trust Dylan.

He trusted him completely.

Dylan rejected Kai every single time.

The problem was that Jun didn't trust Kai.

-----

Then everything finally exploded.

Kai cornered Dylan near the campus garden.

"Dylan."

The omega sighed immediately.

"What."

"Please just give me one chance."

"No."

"Why?"

"I already told you."

Kai stepped closer.

"You and Jun aren't even together."

Dylan's expression immediately cooled.

"That's none of your business."

Kai grabbed his wrist.

Not hard.

But enough.

"Dylan—"

"Let go."

"No."

"Dylan said let go."

A cold voice interrupted.

Kai turned.

Jun was standing there.

Eyes darker than usual.

Expression unreadable.

Dylan immediately relaxed.

"Jun."

Jun walked forward.

Stopping directly beside him.

Between him and Kai.

Kai frowned.

"Stay out of this."

Jun's voice remained calm.

"No."

The atmosphere changed instantly.

Students nearby stopped walking.

Everyone could feel the tension.

"Dylan already rejected you."

Jun's gaze never wavered.

"Repeatedly."

Kai clenched his fists.

"You aren't his boyfriend."

"No."

Jun answered.

Then looked directly at Dylan.

Something emotional flashing through his eyes.

Something he had been holding back for months.

"But that doesn't mean I'll let you keep bothering him."

Kai shoved Jun's shoulder.

A mistake.

A very large mistake.

For the first time since Dylan had met him—

Jun got angry.

The argument quickly turned into a brief fight before nearby students and security intervened.

No one was seriously hurt.

But the message was clear.

Kai finally understood.

---

A few days later, Kai transferred classes.

And Dylan finally got some peace.

That evening, Jun asked Dylan to meet him on the rooftop.

The same rooftop where they had spent countless afternoons together.

The sunset painted the sky gold.

Dylan smiled as soon as he saw him.

"Jun."

Jun looked unusually nervous.

Which was honestly terrifying.

"...Dylan."

"What?"

Jun took a deep breath.

Then another.

"I don't like seeing other people around you."

Dylan blinked.

"Oh."

"I don't like it."

"Oh."

Jun rubbed his forehead.

"Stop saying oh."

Dylan laughed.

A bright, genuine laugh.

One of Jun's favorite sounds.

Jun stepped closer.

"I tried ignoring it."

"Okay."

"It didn't work."

"Okay."

"Dylan."

"What?"

Jun reached for his hand.

Holding it carefully.

Like something precious.

"I like you."

The smile disappeared from Dylan's face.

Not because he was unhappy.

Because he was stunned.

Jun continued quietly.

"You've been beside me this entire time."

His grip tightened slightly.

"And somewhere along the way..."

A small smile appeared.

"...you became the most important person in my life."

Dylan's eyes immediately watered.

"Jun..."

Jun lifted a hand and gently brushed his hair back.

Soft.

Tender.

Affectionate.

"So if you're still willing to stay..."

His voice softened.

"I want you to stay with me."

Dylan didn't even give him time to finish.

He launched himself forward and wrapped both arms around Jun.

Jun laughed.

Actually laughed.

Wrapping his arms around Dylan's waist.

Holding him close.

"Is that a yes?"

Dylan buried his face against his shoulder.

"Obviously."

Jun smiled.

Then gently tilted Dylan's chin upward.

Giving him a small, sweet kiss on the forehead.

Lingering for a moment.

"Good," Jun whispered.

Dylan immediately turned bright red.

"Jun!"

"What?"

"You can't suddenly do that!"

Jun looked entirely unrepentant.

"I can."

For the first time, Dylan realized something.

Jun had always been soft.

Always gentle.

Always patient.

But now that he finally had Dylan—

He might be a little possessive too.

And honestly?

Dylan liked that very much.

As the sun disappeared below the horizon, they stood together on the rooftop.

Hands intertwined.

Shoulders touching.

No misunderstandings.

No rivals.

No uncertainty.

Just Jun and Dylan.

Exactly where they wanted to be.

Together.

---

Later that night, the two sat under the stars, sharing snacks they had brought from the cafeteria.

"Do you think Kai will ever give up completely?" Dylan asked softly, tracing patterns on Jun's hand.

Jun shrugged, resting his head against Dylan's shoulder.

"As long as I’m here, it won’t matter. He knows you’re mine."

Dylan laughed, the sound mingling with the soft night breeze.

"I like it when you’re possessive," he admitted.

Jun smirked.

"You’ll get used to it."

And with that, the two fell into comfortable silence, hearts synced, knowing that no one—and nothing—could come between them now.
