My Teddy Bear

Summary:

Gunwook has been into Matthew since the beginning. He has to work hard to get his attention, especially after Hanbin's judgemental attitude pushes Matthew to Jiwoong. They have to overcome a lot more than that to be together, and changes within the group make it even harder.

Chapter Text

Matthew was grateful to debut in ZEROBASEONE. He met many good friends in Boys Planet, but his favorite had to be young Gunwook. He'd watched his best friend Hanbin fall in love on the show, and he'd grown close with Gunwook in the process. It's hard not to find friends, and crushes, when you're living in close quarters with so many people for four to five months.

“Hyung?” Matthew sat on the bed Hanbins's room when they moved into their new dorms. “You're really in love with Hao hyung?”

Matthew and Hanbin had known each well before Boys Planet. They once trained together under the same company, and it was Hanbin who encouraged him to stay in Korea and audition for the show. He'd almost gone back home to Canada to attend medical school, but his sister and Hanbin insisted that he continue to pursue his dreams.

“Yes,” Hanbin smiled and looked up as the aforementioned hyung walked into the room and plopped down on his lap.

“I'm happy for you,” Matthew grinned.

“Thank you, Matthew-yah,” Hao nodded and offered him a small smile.

“I think I'm feeling that too,” Matthew gazed thoughtfully at the wall.

“Gunwookie,” Hao looked up.

“How did you-” Matthew started but Hao cut him off.

“No,” Hao pointed to the doorway. “Gunwookie.”

Matthew turned around and saw the tall man in the doorway. He admired the way he was just leaning against the door, looking so cool yet so young and innocent at the same time.

“The food is here,” Gunwook straightened up and turned away back into the hallway.

“We'll talk more later,” Hanbin gently helped Hao stand up. “Don't think I've forgotten what you just said.”

“Yes, hyung,” Matthew blushed as he stood up to leave Hanbin's room.

Having known Hanbin for years, he figured that he was going to scold him later. He hadn't meant to say it, but he'd been so caught off guard that it slipped out anyway.

~~~~~~
Matthew was right. Scolding him is exactly what Hanbin did. As soon as they were finished eating, the leader grabbed Matthew and dragged him to his dorm room. Hao followed behind to make sure his boyfriend didn't go too hard on him.
“You're years older than him,” Hanbin said sternly. “It's not right, Matthew.”
“Only two and a half years!” Matthew protested. “This isn't fair, hyung!”
“He's still a baby,” Hanbin shook his head.
“What are you arguing about?” Hao walked over and sat down in Hanbin's lap again.
“Matthew likes Gunwook,” He explained. “He's so much older.”
“I thought you'd be more suited to Jiwoong hyung,” Hao shrugged his shoulders.
“Maybe,” Matthew sighed. “But that's not what I want.”
“He's not that much older, really,” Hao turned to Hanbin. “I don't see the issue.”
“He's just barely eighteen,” Hanbin protested. “He's a little kid.”
“Oh stop,” Hao sighed and shook his head. “Gunwook is a grown man. If he likes Matthew, then I see no issue with it.”
“Thank you,” Matthew smiled.
“Fine,” Hanbin rolled his eyes. “But I don't like it.”
Later that night, Matthew was laying in bed trying to fall asleep. He was thinking over what Hanbin said about Gunwook being so young. Matthew didn't think he was too old for him, but Gunwook was young. He couldn't deny that fact when he hadn't yet turned Korea's adult age yet. Where Matthew came from, eighteen was already an adult.
“Hyung,” He heard a voice in the dark.
He felt someone climb into bed behind him. Big arms wrapped around him and pulled him close.
“Matthew hyung,” Gunwook whispered. “Is Hanbin hyung mad at you?”
Matthew turned around to face the younger man. “Maybe. I don't know.”
“Is something wrong?” Gunwook asked, their faces only inches apart in the shadows.
“No,” Matthew shook his head. “Nothing to worry about, Wookie.”
“Did you offend Hao hyung?” Gunwook slipped his hands under Matthew's shirt and put his hands on his back. “I know he's very protective over him.”
Matthew laughed and shook his head again. “No, Gunwook. Everything is okay.”
“Can I stay with you?” Gunwook continued exploring under Matthew's shirt with his hands. “I don't wanna sleep alone.”
“Sure, baby bear,” Matthew smiled up at him. “Just don't wake up Yujin and Jiwoong hyung.”
“Okay,” Gunwook pulled him closer and nuzzled his neck with his nose.
~~~~~~

“Look at you,” Jiwoong said quietly in Matthew's ear as he stood behind him, hands on his waist while he cooked pancakes. “So domestic.”

“Thanks, hyung,” Matthew laughed and continued cooking.

“What's going on in here?” Taerae asked as he walked into the kitchen with Hanbin.

“Matthew is cooking for us,” Jiwoong explained, hugging him from behind.

“Gunwook snuck out last night,” Hanbin huffed, walking over to them. “I can't imagine where he went.”

“He was in Matthew's bed when I woke up,” Jiwoong laughed. “The big guy was holding him close like a stuffed animal.”

“Matthew-yah,” Hanbin scolded. “I told you about him.”

“Lay off it, Bin,” Hao said as he entered the room, Ricky and Gyuvin behind him.

“I think it's cute,” Jiwoong let go of Matthew. “He needed his hyung to help him fall asleep.”

“Hyung, please,” Matthew sighed and put the last of the pancakes on the plate. “I didn't do anything. He came there on his own to ask if you were mad at me.”

“Gunwook,” Hanbin looked at him as he walked in with Yujin. “Why did you sleep in Matthew's bed?”

“Hyung?” Yujin tilted his head towards the older man. “What's the matter? Did he do something wrong?”

“You shouldn't sleep in your hyung's bed,” Hanbin explained, trying to come up with a reason.

“You sleep with Hao hyung,” Taerae pointed out.

“That's different!” Hanbin protested.

“Because you're dating?” Gunwook asked.

“Hanbin,” Hao sighed heavily and shook his head. “Now look at what you did.”

“You're dating?” Gyuvin asked and everyone started talking among themselves.

“Yes, actually,” Hanbin crossed his arms. “That is why it's different.”

“Just go get ready,” Hao rolled his eyes and stormed off down the hallway. “You should've never started anything with them.”

“Fine,” Hanbin turned to follow him. “Don't say I didn't warn you.”

“Matthew-yah,” Jiwoong leaned in and whispered in his ear. “Can I talk to you in our room?”

Matthew nodded his head. “Yeah. Just let me put the food on the table.”

When Matthew walked into their room and closed the door, Jiwoong was waiting for him. Jiwoong stepped over and stood closer to him.

“What's Hanbin's problem?” Jiwoong asked.

“He says I'm too old for Gunwook,” Matthew sighed heavily. “He says it's weird we spend so much time together.”

“Then I'm going to jail for being with you right now,” Jiwoong chuckled lightly. “I'm so much older than you. You and Gunwook are both adults in international age. Do what you want.”

“Hao hyung said I'd be better with you,” Matthew smiled shyly.

Jiwoong reached behind Matthew and locked the door. “Maybe he's right. If that's what would make them happy.”

“I'm willing to consider it,” He wrapped his arms around his hyung’s neck. “Maybe I'll forget about Gunwook.”

Matthew leaned up and kissed Jiwoong hard. Jiwoong grabbed his arms and pulled him backwards to his bed. He pushed Matthew down and climbed on top of him. Matthew kissed him again, wrapping his arms around his neck. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

“Hyungs,” Gunwooks's voice came through. “Hanbin hyung said hurry up and let's go to practice.”

Jiwoong leaned up and sighed. “We'll finish this later.”

“How?” Matthew giggled. “We live with a kid.”

“I don't know,” Jiwoong laughed, smiling. “We'll figure it out.”

“Hyungs,” Gunwook called again. “Hanbin is getting mad.”

“We're coming,” Jiwoong yelled back. “Be there in a second.”

Jiwoong got up from the bed and headed over to the door. Matthew followed him, anxious about facing Gunwook.

“Matthew, hyung,” Gunwook looked at him with a concerned expression. “You never lock the door.”

“I did it,” Jiwoong shrugged before pushing past him.

“Hyung?” He looked down at Matthew.

“Forget about it, Gunwook,” Matthew took a deep breath. “It's none of your concern anyway.”

“Hanbin hyung is throwing tantrums,” Gunwook pouted. “You and Jiwoong hyung are acting weird. What's going on around here?”

“Gunwook,” Matthew grabbed him by the arms. “It's okay.”

Gunwook sighed and shook his head. “Doesn't seem like it.”

“Just come to practice,” Matthew smiled and hugged him. “Everything will be better soon.”

~~~~~~
Jiwoong talked to Ricky and Gyuvin, and he convinced them to take Yujin for the night. Ricky didn't like the idea at first because he preferred to be alone with Gyuvin, but eventually he gave in.
“Alright,” Gyuvin agreed, despite Ricky's protests. “Don't be too loud and don't make a mess.”
“Don't expect this to happen often,” Ricky crossed his arms. “I like just being with Gyuvin.”
“Yeah, figure out your own way to get away from the kid,” Gyuvin laughed. “He's your problem after this.”
“That's okay,” Jiwoong shrugged with a smirk. “I only need one night.”
Jiwoong made his way back down the hallway to their bedroom where Yujin was packing his things for a sleepover with his hyungs. Matthew was already in his pajamas getting ready for bed.
“Goodnight, hyungs,” Yujin grabbed his things and headed for the door. “See you tomorrow.”
“Goodnight,” The two older men said in unison.
Yujin left and closed the door behind him. Jiwoong walked over to Matthew, picking him up and placing him on the bed. He climbed on top of him and started kissing his neck.
“How did you convince Ricky and Gyuvin to take Yujin?” Matthew asked, tilting his head to give Jiwoong better access to his neck.
“A lot of begging,” Jiwoong laughed against his neck.
“If Yujin wasn't still here,” Matthew said softly. “I would've been waiting for you naked.”
“Wow,” Jiwoong slipped a hand under his top. “Too bad he was here.”
Matthew pulled his shirt over his head. “We're alone now, so you can do whatever you want.”
Jiwoong pulled down Matthew's pants, freeing his dick. He put his hand around it and put it in his mouth. Matthew moaned out as Jiwoong started bobbing his head up and down on him.
“Ah, hyung,” Matthew leaned his head back. “That feels so good.”
He gasped as he felt two fingers slip inside of him. He rocked his hips back and forth, trying to help Jiwoong hit his sensitive spot. Jiwoong pulled his mouth off of him and sat up. He kept his fingers going for a few more seconds before he stopped and removed them. He got up and walked over to his nightstand, grabbing a bottle of lube from the top drawer.
Matthew watched as he walked back over to the bed. Jiwoong sat the lube down before stripping his clothes off. He grabbed the bottle and poured some out onto his hard dick. He slowly stroked himself, spreading the lube around. He pressed against Matthew's hole, slowly slipping inside. Matthew gasped and gripped the sheets.
“Shit,” Matthew moaned. “More, please.”
Jiwoong leaned over and started thrusting into him, pressing his lips against the younger man's. Breathy moans left Matthew's throat every time Jiwoong pushed in against his sensitive spot.
“Oh my god,” Matthew breathed out. “It feels so good.”
A few more thrusts and Matthew was cumming all over his stomach. Jiwoong kept going, and it didn't take long before he came too.
“God,” He panted, out of breath. “You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that.”
Matthew laughed softly. “Now you have. This definitely helped me. Thank you, hyung.”
“You're welcome,” Jiwoong smiled and kissed him. “It was my pleasure to help you get over your crush.”
~~~~~~

Gunwook opened the door to the room he shared with Hanbin, Hao, and Taerae. He was barely holding his emotions together.

“Where have you been, Gunwook?” Taerae asked, rubbing his eyes sleepily.

Gunwook shook his head, unable to speak. He sat down on his bed and tears started to fall from his eyes. Taerae jumped up and walked over to his bed. Hao followed and sat on the other side of him.

“What happened?” Hao rubbed his back. “Tell your hyungs.”

“Yujin said he was sleeping in Ricky and Gyuvin's room,” Gunwook sniffled. “So I went downstairs to see what was up with Matthew and Jiwoong.”

“That's weird,” Taerae looked up at Hao, who was looking at him equally confused. “What's up with that?”

“So I opened the door to their room,” He wiped his eyes. “And I saw Jiwoong hyung on top of Matthew.”

“Hanbin,” Hao called to his boyfriend. “Get over here.”

“Did he say Jiwoong and Matthew?” Hanbin said as he joined the others on Gunwook's bed. “What's going on?”

“You walked in on Jiwoong and Matthew having sex?” Taerae gasped in disbelief.

“What the hell?” Hanbin and Hao shouted.

“Don't make me talk about it,” Gunwook sobbed. “I don't want to think about it anymore.”

“Hanbin,” Hao pinched his arm. “This is your fault.”

“Ow!” Hanbin cried out. “How is it my fault?”

“You're the one who told Matthew he was too old for Gunwook,” Hao hissed. “You pushed him to Jiwoong.”

“Hyung,” Gunwook looked up at Hanbin with tears running down his face. “How could you?”

“I was trying to protect you,” Hanbin sighed. “You're technically not even an adult.”

“So what?” Taerae gazed angrily at Hanbin. “What's wrong with you?”

“I'm in love with hyung,” Gunwook said through broken sobs. “How could you push him away? Yesterday, they locked themselves in their room and acted weird about it. Today, I had to see them naked.”

“I'm sorry, Gunwook,” Hanbin put his hand on the younger man's thigh. “I didn't know he was going to go to Jiwoong hyung about it.”

“We literally told him to,” Hao reminded him.

“So it's your fault too then,” Hanbin challenged his boyfriend. “You did this too.”

“Hao,” Taerae turned to him. “How could you?”

“I didn't mean it,” Hao shook his head in protest. “I was just trying to support Hanbin.”

“He's way older than Matthew,” Gunwook wiped his eyes again. “How could you tell him to be with Jiwoong when you said he was too old for me? Their age gap is much bigger.”

“Matthew isn't eighteen,” Hanbin stated coldly. “That's the difference.”

“You're truly awful,” Taerae hugged Gunwook. “How could you hurt Gunwook like this?”

Hanbin sighed in defeat. “I'm sorry, Gunwook. I hope you can forgive me.”

“Maybe later,” Gunwook shook his head. “But not right now.”

“That's fair,” Hao nodded, looking to Hanbin. “Very fair.”

“I agree,” Hanbin removed his hand from Gunwook. “You deserve to be upset with me.”

~~~~~~
Gunwook didn't come out of their room much for the next few days. The others noticed, but no one asked questions. Jiwoong clung to Matthew like a magnet, not wanting to let him out of his grasp.
“Matthew,” Taerae approached him as they were standing in the kitchen together. “I need to talk to you.”
“Okay,” Matthew pulled away from Jiwoong's arms. “Let's go to my room.”
Taerae followed him down the hall. Yujin was out in the living room, so they had the room to themselves. He sighed and closed the door behind them.
“What's going on?” Taerae asked.
“What are you talking about?” Matthew scrunched up his face. “Everything seems alright.”
“No, it isn't,” Taerae shook his head. “Don't you wonder why Gunwook isn't coming out to be with us anymore?”
“Is he sick?” Matthew tilted his head to the side.
“Matthew,” Taerae put his hand on his shoulders. “He walked in on you and Jiwoong the other night.”
“Woah,” Matthew gasped. “Are you sure?”
“He told us,” Taerae nodded and sighed. “He was crying when he came back to our room and we asked him why. He was really upset, hyung.”
Matthew looked down at the floor. “I'm sorry. That was never my intention.”
“Why did you do it?” Taerae asked. “We all knew you were in love with Gunwook. Why did you sleep with Jiwoong?”
“Hanbin didn't like it,” Matthew pulled away and sat on the end of his bed. “I told Jiwoong and he said he'd help me get over him.”
“You don't need to get over Gunwook,” Taerae walked over to him. “You need to apologize and tell him how you feel about him. He loves you too.”
“Really?” Matthew buried his head in his hands. “I really fucked up then.”
“Of course he does,” Taerae sighed heavily. “He always has. He doesn't feel any different for you than Hanbin does for Hao or Gyuvin does for Ricky.”
“I'm an idiot,” Matthew shook his head. “I shouldn't have let Hanbin get in my head.”
“Go fix it,” Taerae put a hand on his back.
