Chapter Text
The old, heat baked creaked softly under her footfalls, barely audible through the chatter. It was a warm summer day, the sun high in the sky, as Lorelai walked the pier. The salty air was carried by a cool breeze, curing the burn of the afternoon sun. This her way of taking a break after a stressful week. When she was a little girl, she walked here with her parents, both of her hands in one of her theirs. Now, she still visits to calm her nerves.
Despite the warm day, she spots a girl, in a grey hoodie and dark jeans. She looked about fifteen, and seemingly on an important call the way her tone sounded across the walk. She had short black hair, waving behind her in the wind. Her hoodie seemed to be merchandise of some band, dates covering the back.
Lorelai hadn’t realized she’d been staring, and was stood flat in the middle of the pier. She picked up her feet and kept walking.
As she approached the gated end of the pier, she walked over to the side, rested her hands on the railing, and took in the sights. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and the sea was a beautiful deep blue. Waves rolled towards the shoreline, with colorful surfers waiting to catch one. Ever since the restaurant closed, not many tourists came this far, letting her hear her thoughts. Here she stood, thinking over the week she’d left behind, until the horizon had a tinge of yellow. Lorelai remembered she promised her mother she’d make it home in time for dinner, and began to walk quickly back to the shore.
