Mont Saint Michel - An Original Script

Summary:

One healing from a breakup and another on the verge of mental collapse, two sibling gods crash-land on the foggy shallows of what will come to be the busiest trading island in France. But the conflict they ran from is hot on their heels, and the cathedral they hide in has secrets of its own. And wait - hold on - did that statue just move?

Akari, Cassie and Zephyr are three characters co-created by me and my friends (@Red_Blue_Green_Vio), but this script is entirely written by me. Enjoy!

(An original script originally created and intended for an audience of two of my friends. This writing could be better but it's the longest work I have so far. So. Yes. Also this is my first AO3 work please keep your criticism constructive and your hearts and minds open and loving. Thanks have wonderful respective days all of you!!)

Notes:

The formatting is way better in WriterDuet! Sorry to post it in such a jarring manner on a prose designed platform without the necessary script grammar :(

Chapter Text

SCENE 1

EXT. Shallows just off the coast of the island (I)

The camera moves forward through a pale foggy area of shallow water, atmosphere quiet apart from the lapping of waves and wind.

The silence continues as the opening credits appear slowly on screen - (a Netflix production etc etc) - then is broken by the faint sounds of characters in the distance.

The first sound we hear is a distant sound of two people screaming while falling, growing louder, then ending with a faint splash.

(this dialogue is faint as if far away from the camera at first, but grows louder as the camera moves closer. The fog still conceals the action at this point.)

Akari:

(coughing and spluttering dramatically)

Ugh, fuck- Eros-

(more coughing and retching)

Ach~

The place where these characters come from is centred around Grecian mythology rather than Christianity, so I've replaced the expletives 'Jesus' and 'God' with 'Eros' and 'Gaia'.

Cassie:

(coughing, less dramatically)

What the-

(splashing sounds of someone standing up)

Where even are we?

The characters come into view. Through the thick mist we see CASSIE stood up, visibly searching. Her long, brown hair is matted and stuck to her face with water, and she struggles with a thick cloak, soaked with water, clasped around her shoulders.

The other figure, AKARI, is less dignified, if that is even possible. He looks as if he is actively drowning in the knee-deep water he is sitting in, and his dark hair is plastered to his forehead. He wears a now-soaked shirt, unbuttoned halfway and stuck to his chest. It would be sexy if he wasn't acting like a drowning cat.

Akari:

(coughs, pathetically, gestures to CASSIE)

Help me up.

Cassie:

(hauling AKARI very unsteadily to his feet)

Where on Gaia's green earth did they send us?

Akari:

(wiping the water from his face and trying in vain to style his hair)

I don't know. We're soaked, abandoned, and completely sober -

(suddenly noticing, disgusted)

Oh - agk - corporeal bodies?? Seriously?!

CASSIE wipes water off their face in disgust and shivers violently. AKARI wrings water out of his shirt. They mutter curses.

Akari:

At least we landed in somewhere relatively conspicuous. I'd hate to be soaked, abandoned, and sober and be gawked at by a crowd of townsfolk.

Cassie:

(ignoring him)

Can you make out anything in this fog?

There is a long pause as the pair try in vain to see through the mist that surrounds them.

Akari:

There! I saw- wait, wait no.

Nope, sorry. Nothing.

Cassie:

(long-suffering sigh)

You know what, just- let's just pick a direction and start walking.

Akari:

Yeah, ok.

Cassie wades off, through the mist.

Akari:

Hey, wait!

CUE OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE + MUSIC

(think 'Shadow and Bone' title sequence - changes each episode and foreshadows the events of the plot)

Notes:

Thank you for reading! And again sorry for the awful formatting - it's impossible to translate WriterDuet formatted onto here without it looking like you've opened reader mode.

Also - these chapters are pretty short as I've separated them into the preexisting scenes, so again, sorry for that!
