Jax groaned in frustration, hitting his tv absently, checking the back of it twice, fixing the wires placement diligently. Satisfied, stepped back, puffing his chest in pride, eyed his door, his ears twitched, as his nerves were lit under his skin, hoping for no visitors.
Chastising himself, went to his hidden snack collection, selecting sour cream and onion pringles and barbecue lays, kicking his pillow closer to the tv set up, as he plopped down on his several scattered pillows.
Whipping out a tv controller, pushed play, as the intro of a cartoon played before him. A young lady with a purple streak in her hair filled the screen, she punched a huge ogre like beast with horns curved like a bull.
Jax eyes were glued to the screen, shoving the two chip flavors messily into his mouth, watching the scene unblinking.
‘So cool.’ Thought Jax, shoving another few chips in his gullet, his eyes still unmoving from the screen.
He stayed slouching, in front of his tv, eating his snacks without a second thought, as the credits rolled, he stretched his arms above his head. “Hrrgg…”
Jax slowly got up, heading to his shelf of hidden VHS tapes he's collected over the years, thumb through it, noticing a missing plastic cover where his paw landed absently. Panic coursed through him, as his eyes scanned the rest of his vhs, consuming him. The bile rise higher, burning his throat, he stomped outside of his dorm, heading straight to the living commune area, heading for Gangle, he lifted her out of her spot next to Zooble.
His anger fueled more, by her innocent scared look she was giving him, he snapped out of it, once Zooble spoke.
“The hell? Why the f#ck are you picking on Gangle this morning?”
Jax scoffs. “I do that every morning. Today, however, she stole from me.”
“I..I didn't! I was here with, um, Zooble.” Stammers Gangle helplessly.
“I don't have all day. Give me back what's mine.” Snarls Jax, his claws digging into her ribbons, causing her to wince.
Zooble shoved him back, Jax stumbled, glaring at them.
“Back off. She doesn't have your damn stuff. Go bother someone else for a change. Spats Zooble, snapping a crab claw at Jax warning.
Jax bristles, his fur puffing up at the slight, storms away, dropping Gangle, her comedy mask breaking as he leaves in a hurry at practically throwing her down onto the ground without remorse.
Slamming his dorm door, he paced his room, muttering and cursing, till a knock caught his ears.
“Hey, Jax. Can you let me in?” Asks the soft tone of Pomni.
His anger melted immediately, a goofy smile, he opened the door, letting her in, as he re-locked his door.
“I see you couldn't get enough of me~” Muses Jax, his foot thumping happily.
Pomni beamed up at him, took out a white medium sized rectangle box, handing it back to Jax. “Here, I wanted to return this.”
Jax's mind froze abruptly. ‘Return? When did I-’ Realization hit him faster than a truck speeding down the highway. He cursed himself inwardly, his ears flattened against his skull.
“Thanks PomPom.” Says Jax monotone.
Pomni eyes him curiously, pursing her mouth, unsure whether to ask.
Jax rolls his eyes. “It's nothing juicy, Pom. I need to placate a crybaby.”
Pomni nodded. “Okay. I'll see you later then?"
“Yeah, sure.”
Jax relaxed once more, carefully putting back his vhs in its rightful spot, crumbling to the floor. “Damnit.”
The next day, Jax shoves an anime figure of a nuanced anime into Gangle's ribbon arms without a word, ignoring the looks from both Zooble and Crybaby.
Once in his room, sat down to consume more media of his favorite show, grabbing a homemade blanket he painstakingly sewed into existence, dodging Ragatha's questions for weeks.
Wrapping it around his shoulders, tge feeling of Ragatha finding out, or worse Gangle, made him shiver. ‘They would be the most annoying about it.’ Thinks Jax bitterly. ‘Least Pomni would keep her mouth shut and enjoy it with me.’
A few episodes in, he dug out a green crop top with an unfinished design on it, he stuck the needle in with magenta colored thread, humming the theme song, unnoticed the rapt knocking on his door.
Caine poofed inside, startling Jax, stabbing his finger in the process, helps.
‘Damnit Caine!’
Jax forced a grin on his face, secretly seething, as Caine spoke overly loud.
“Jax, the lovable jerk! We haven't seen you in a few days! Are you alright, my friend?”
“Course! I'm just enjoying my alone time. I needed some from your wondrous adventure you've made lately.”
Caine grew teary eyed. “Really?!”
‘F#ck no.’ “Heh, yeah, sure, whatever.”
That's positively glorious! Cheers Caine, disappearing once more without another word.
Jax sighs hopefully. “Finally…”
Continuing his sewing, thought about Pomni, playing as the friend of Juniper, his face lit up a darkened purple, shaking his head to cast the thoughts away.
After several minutes and nursing being stabbed thrice, he held up the shirt proudly, sticking his head in, as he put it in, stared in the mirror, his hand on his hip, feeling cocky.
Pomni entered his mind again, sighing loudly, he paused, trying to manifest a plush of the jester.
A pop was heard, a Pomni plush came to be, looking like a wet cat, he smiled.
“Heh, cute.”
“What?”
Jax froze, his turned on a swivel to see Pomni peeking at him through a crack of his door, and was pulled in roughly.
“Hey, cut it–”
“How much did you see?”
Pomni shivered, biting her lip, nervously. “Not much. Just you wearing this and conjuring a plush of me.”
Jax relaxed instantly. “Cool. Sooo, whatcha want, shortstack?”
“I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out. But if you're busy, we can do so later.”
Jax waves it off. “Nah, its fine~! Besides, I want your opinion on something.”
“Okay.”
Pomni dug into the popcorn, listening intently with interest as Jax relayed the show's premise with ease.
“You must really love the show. Do, do you see yourself in this, maybe?” Asks Pomni quizzingly.
Jax tilts his head, his gloved hand petting the soft texture of the blanket, his smile content. “Yeah, more than you'll ever realize.”
