Work Text:
Nirei was used to the punches. Growing up in middle school, he was used to running errands and getting bullied. Too many punches are constantly thrown and not enough dodged. He’d vaguely remembers looking up what happens to someone who suffers from too many punches.
The simple answer was getting punch drunk.
Disoriented, memories start to vanish over time, and even going temporarily losing sight. Nirei should’ve known better than coming to the fight with KEEL. He could’ve easily sat this one out and waited for his classmates to win. To stay out of their way and let them fight without being a burden. Being a stone tied around Suo-kun’s or Sakura-kun’s ankles and dragging them down. He didn’t want that. He wanted to pull his own weight around and be helpful.
Back against the wall, his chest tight, and his breathing uneven, he knew better. How many times did his mother beg him to stop fighting? How many more times will he have to see the disgusted, disappointed look in his father’s eyes? His grandfather’s pity looks?
He just wants to help, but he’s useless. A helpless, useless piece of the weakest people on earth.
Making the break for it so Suo-kun didn’t have to worry for him and taking down one guy. Than the punches came. He knew how those felt. It felt comforting in a depraved way of receiving the same punishment as he did when he was younger. But he saw it. The swift-moving plank and the harsh sting and throbbing pain on striking his head.
Was that Sakura-kun screaming? No. No one cared for him that much. It’s so loud. Too much.
Suo and Sakura barely saw eye to eye. But Suo and Nirei did support Sakura in becoming the Grade Captain. They, in turn, became his Vice Captains.
Sakura met Nirei first, and he didn’t expect a friendship with him. Nirei had a way with words and was an easing presence in Sakura’s lonely life. Sure, he latches on to Sakura too quickly, but as days went on, Sakura found himself not minding the blond’s attention and affection. He was ashamed to admit that he craved it when it was just the two of them. Suo oddly fit in their duo. He’d tease Sakura, while Nirei would occasionally join in or try to tease Suo back with the little knowledge he had of his friend in his notebook.
Sakura felt nothing. A numbing feeling thrumming on his skin as his blood burned, and his heart thumped at a quick pace. The plank swung down the third time on Nirei. Blood oozed quickly and spilled over golden blond hair, tainting it a dark, murky color.
The rage burned and roared louder than any other emotion he had ever felt. Suo had moved just as quickly as he did to their friend.
It was all a blur as three of the second years showed up. Sure, the fighting ceased for a moment with the second year’s present, but everyone’s eyes were on the blond on the ground.
Kusumi leaned down, pressing his fingers to Nirei’s pulse point. “It’s faint. He needs a hospital,” Kusumi spoke aloud as he pulled his phone out.
“Hey! This isn’t done yet!” Shingo shouts from his spot up on the stairs.
“Kaji, this boy needs a hospital. It’s serious,” Kusumi points out as Kaji’s grey eyes stay trained on the leader.
“Take him outside. Call an ambulance. Well, finish this right now before the ambulance even gets here,” Kaji ordered.
Kusumi lifts Nirei in his arms, having Suo and Sakura help him keep their friend steady. Sakura stares at the back of Kusumi as they step out of the warehouse. Looking down, his hands are stained in crimson blood.
“Let’s finish this.”
Lying Nirei down, Kusumi makes the call and rushes back inside to help to finish this fight. Nirei blinks his eyes slowly, seeing a figure looming over him. He can’t see straight and his vision keeps going in and out.
“Damn. I was expecting Sakura to go berserk but I wasn’t expecting everyone else to lose their shit too. Especially, the one with the eye patch,” the voice says as they bend down and lift him to sit up. “What is it about you that has everyone riled up?”
Nirei groans softly as he feels fingers digging into his pockets and pulling out his phone and notebook.
“Well, well,” the voice huskily laughs, “you’re the brains of this operation. This is quite the information to carry with you and to be with Furin. You must be becoming Umemiya’s favorite. You’re certainly Sakura’s for the way he’s acting.”
Sirens start to echo.
“Hmm, my time’s up. I’ll keep my eye on you for now… Nirei Akihiko.”
Sakura runs quicker outside as the sirens are no louder and closer. He picks up Nirei in his arms, the weight of his life in his arms. Sakura feels like he’s walking a snapping thread of life. As he runs to the ambulance. Suo, Kiryu, Tsugeura, and Sugishita run all behind him. Before he has time to process anything, Nirei is ripped from his arms and placed in a stretcher.
Sakura can only watch in horror and guilt-driven anxiety choking him as Nirei is taken away quickly.
The hospital is quiet. Umemiya is oddly silent as he tries to bring the boys’ spirits up as they wait for news on Nirei. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get in contact with any of Nirei’s family members.
But soon enough, the doctor came out to let them know Nirei had suffered a concussion but should be fine. No need for extensive surgery or anything, but Suo felt like the doctor was leaving something out. Made sense. Not everything can be said to a bunch of students. When they entered the hospital room, Nirei was up and staring out the window. When the door shut, Nirei didn’t make eye contact with them but smiled softly.
“So… did we win?” Nirei mumbles.
Nirei didn’t expect the tight embrace. Sakura tightly held him close and felt just gentle touch of Nirei’s hand along his ear.
“Ah, Sakura, it’s you,” Nirei softly spoke.
Suo frowned softly, “Nirei-kun… can you see us?”
Sakura slowly pulled away from Nirei and tried to meet the boy’s gaze but Nirei couldn’t meet his.
“I’m punch drunk. It happens typically to boxers, but because I’ve been in fights for as long as I can remember, it was bound to happen. Turns out three hits with a plank will do that,” Nirei chuckles humorlessly. “My vision will return slowly, but I’ve been advised to avoid fighting entirely.”
“And that you will,” Umemiya announced.
“Ah! Umemiya-san!” Nirei shirked, unaware of the older teen’s presence. “Uh, could you tell me who’s all in here?”
“Me, Hiragi, Sakura, Suo, Kiryu, and Sugishita,” Umemiya replied, watching Nirei reach for Sakura’s hand. The black and white-haired boy grabbed his hand and held it much more tenderly than it seemed.
“This could’ve gone much worse. Coma or death. The doctor was surprised all you had suffered from was a concussion and some cracked ribs. No more fighting, Nirei-kun. Please,” Umemiya begged and reached forward, grabbing Nirei’s left hand.
Nirei swallows thickly remembering someone’s voice echoing faintly at the back of his head. He must’ve stayed silent for too long because he felt a rough but gentle hand lift his chin up to “look” up at him.
“Nirei,” Umemiya began, “Take it easy. Just focus on recovery.”
Suo tried to ignore the pang of possessiveness calling in his veins as a pretty blush scattered across Nirei’s freckled cheeks. He gave a shaky nod to which Umemiya let him go.
Over the following days Suo and Sakura would pick Nirei up for school so they could walk together. Nirei’s vision wasn’t quiet back all the way so he relied heavily on his friends to help. Nirei held Suo’s hand this time as Sakura kept an eye out for any problems that might arise.
“My vision is coming back… slightly,” Nirei tries to make small talk. He doesn’t like that Suo and Sakura are quiet.
“Really? What can you see?” Suo asked his voice sounding dangerously close to his ear.
“Umm, well, it’s just a sliver of light but it’s more than pitch darkness,” Nirei explained.
“Hmm,” Suo hummed.
Class was equally odd. While he could listen and do his best to pay attention his senses had been turned up to a hundred. He had read somewhere that losing your sense of sight would heightened your other. He could pick up the faint scent of Suo’s tea on his breath or Kiryu’s cologne before he even got close to his desk. He could hear the distinct way Sakura walks or Sugishita steps.
Hence he knew to grab Sugishita’s arm when walking down the stairs for lunch. Sugishita didn’t say much as allowed himself to be used as a cane. Unfortunately, Nirei was walking too slow for his liking. Swiftly he lifted Nirei into his arms and walked quicker down the steps.
“That was unnecessary Sugishita-kun!” Nirei squealed as the taller boy put him down.
“You were walking too slow,” Sugishita spoke.
“I’m currently blind!” Nirei shouted and his cheeks turned a baby pink color. Sugishita couldn’t help the faint smile on his lips.
“Come,” Sugishita drags Nirei through the lunch line helping him with what he was going to eat. “Hold my jacket.”
Sugishita held his tray and Nirei’s and made their way up to the rooftop. Sugishita sat Nirei down in the shade and gave him his food. Sitting down beside him he ate silently as Nirei looked off to the distance.
“Can I tell you something Sugishita-kun?” He asked.
The taller boy hummed and kept his eyes locked on the blond. “The fight with KEEL… when Kusumi took me outside so he could call the ambulance. He ran back inside and then there was someone standing above me. He said I must be Umemiya-san and Sakura-kun’s favorite for the way everybody got riled up. What happened in there?”
Sugishita frowned.
“What did this person sound like or look like?” he asked.
“Uh, don’t worry about that! What happened in the warehouse!” Nirei shouted.
“Akihiko-kun… please answer my question and I will answer yours,” Sugishita pressed on. Shock was clearly written on the blonds face as his cheeks burned a bright red. Never had expected Sugishita Kyotaro to know his first name much less say it with such fondness.
“I… don’t remember much. I think he had black hair maybe tattoos. I can’t really remember it was all a haze. A deep voice that sounded almost playful,” Nirei answered. “Now answer my question.”
“We lost ourselves in that fight. I’m sure some of them had broken bones. If they hadn’t hurt you so badly I’m sure they could’ve stayed conscious when we left. When we all saw you hit the ground that’s when it changed… anger turned to rage stemmed from fear that you would die.” Sugishita shoved food into his mouth to stop himself from revealing too much. His little crush on Nirei did not go unnoticed by Umemiya or Suo. While Umemiya teased him, Suo simply glared at him which was more than warning enough to back off.
But here he was having lunch with the blond alone.
“Oh… sounds very possessive of you guys.”
Sugishita couldn’t help but choke on his rice causing Nirei to fall into a fit of laughter.
Nirei wasn’t sure what happened. Apparently a very strong thunderstorm that the students had to stay in the school building until it passed. No though he could smell Suo’s favorite tea and the faintest hint of cologne. He could hear every deep breath Suo took in as he felt his hands on his waist and sliding up his back to hold him close.
Suo had said he wanted to talk to him in private. When Suo’s lips met his it was an electric feeling swimming through his body.
“Sorry, I just… I just really need you right now. Just like this,” Suo nipped at his neck, teeth digging into his flesh softly and sucking harshly to leave a mark. With all the secrets Suo keeps hidden beneath the mask of a soft smile and calm demeanor he was dying of possessive jealousy. Seeing Nirei napping on Sugishita’s lap a couple of days was too much. Kiryu was also too touchy with Nirei.
Pulling Nirei into his lap and wrapping his arms around his waist so he could so-called “keep an eye on him”.
It was getting on his nerves. Luckily, Nirei is letting him indulge without pushing him away and accepting the love bites and almost painful grouping. Suo pulled back some gripping Nirei’s chin and pushing his thumb into his mouth. He’s pleased when Nirei closes his mouth around the appendage and begins to suck. Once again he pulls him close to lavish his neck in marks to prove he already belongs to someone.
Suo wasn’t one to share someone that so rightly belongs to him.
Well maybe just one person.
Nirei didn’t belong to him at first anyways. He was always Sakura’s first.
Nirei found himself in the similar situation with Sakura. Only it wasn’t in school with the echoes of thunder and lightning brightening the classroom up.
Here he was in Sakura’s lap with the sun setting and the sounds of the wind blowing in through Sakura’s open balcony door. Nirei had his eyesight back. Beneath him Sakura’s grey and golden eye were wet with unshed tears and a bright blush had permanently stayed on his pale cheeks. Lips cherry swollen from kissing Nirei senseless.
With little shuffling, Nirei manages to take his pants off helping Sakura with his. Sakura tightens his hold around Nirei as he feels the kindling of a newfound skinship. Seeing the love bites and marks over Nirei’s collarbones and neck makes him hiss.
“Suo was supposed to be careful,” he snaps.
“He was. He didn’t so much but hold me and kiss me,” Nirei tells him, carding his fingers through white and black hair.
“Akihiko,” Sakura begins. Nirei was once again shocked by how his name sounded out of someone else’s lips. “Akihiko I’m new to a lot of this. But I want you to accept me as your boyfriend… and I guess Suo too. Just us two no one else!”
Nirei stared at him in awe for a moment before laughing. “Why? Why me, Sakura?”
“Why not you? When you were in the hospital, and you lost your sight, I couldn’t even bear the idea of losing you. I can’t. I came to Makochi, I had nothing, and you came stumbling in, and you never left. So I’m asking to be your boyfriend… alongside Suo.” Once again, Sakura’s cheeks burned a bright red.
Nirei smiled softly, “Hakura… thank you for choosing me.”
Sakura felt a burst of warmth bloom in his chest as he pulled Nirei into him and kisses him harshly. Nirei pushes him down on the futon and spreads his legs over his hard cock.
“I’ve never done anything like this so we’ll be learning together okay,” Nirei slid his sloppy cunt over Sakura’s cock. Sakura had never felt something so warm and wet.
As sun began to set and drift down into darkness did Sakura felt sweaty and sticky, overstimulation had tears running down his cheeks. It was all worth the pleasure and utopia feeling in his body . Numbing his brain to pure mush as Nirei fucks himself again on his cock. Their cum mixed together making it froth around the base of his cock.
Nirei’s cheeks were flushed red and his cunt squeezed tightly around Sakura milking him for one more orgasm. Who was Sakura to deny him that.
Bright and early the next day Nirei was summoned alone on the rooftop to meet with Umemiya. The tall teen was attending to his garden when Nirei arrived.
“Ahh Nirei-kun,” Umemiya cheerfully greeted him.
“Hello Umemiya-san,” Nirei bowed quickly even if knowing Umemiya hated it. “What can I do for you?”
“Well, Sugishita told me that you remembered someone talking to you before you lost consciousness at the KEEL fight,” Umemiya spoke sitting down in front him.
Nirei begin picking at his cuticles… an old habit he thought he broke.
“Umm, well, it was faint and I could’ve been hallucinating as well,” Nirei offers the weak excuse.
Umemiya smiles softly before standing up and grabbing Nirei’s hands to stop himself from harming himself.
“If you ever have something you want to tell me please don’t hesitate Nirei-kun. I’m here to help anyways I can,” Umemiya was quick in a kiss against his temple before sending him on his way.
As Nirei made it to end of the stairs there Suo and Sakura waited for him. Suo held his usual soft smile and Sakura while it looked like he grumpy was pleased to see him. He rushes downstairs and crashes into them with a tight hug. Suo and Sakura embrace him just as tightly.
“Come on we can’t be late,” Suo breaks the hug first but tugs Sakura behind him. Nirei quickly tags along but his phone buzzes. He comes to a slow stop as he pulls his phone out and reads the text.
A picture of Umemiya too close for comfort and giving him a kiss.
So I was right… you are his favorite.
