Chapter Text
“My name is Lizzy Grant and I am a singer”
——————————————————————————————————————————
The summer sun burns hot as it dips below the horizon. The day is ending and the city of angels is awakening.
My Blonde hair lights up in the setting sun as I make my way up the steps of the marble mansion, my black lace dress swaying as I walk.
The marble steps shine as I make my way into the house. The house is quiet, almost as if it's haunted. Art hangs from the walls and statues and vases with flowers stand on every table. I place my bag down on the table in the living room and I make my way up the staircase to the bedroom.
I push open the door to the bedroom and switch on the light. I walk inside to the bedroom where I find my lover in the sheets, asleep. He has been in bed for the majority of the week. He is too weak to get up or do anything productive.
I am free to roam the city and get into all sorts of trouble as long as I make it back home before the sun sets. I bent down and stroked his black hair greying from age. He stirs from his sleep, opening his eyes softly.
“Hello baby” he said softly as if speaking hurt.
I smiled down softly at him, “Hey”
I got up and went to the bathroom and quickly got ready for bed. The white marble shining under my feet. I put on a black lace nightgown and made my way back to the bed.
I snuggle up next to him, leaning my head against his shoulders.
“Can you tell me about Ray and his girl?”
He turns his head to look at me. “Sure baby”
“Ray and his girl are inseparable. Wherever he goes she will be there and when she’s there you just know he is close behind.”
I look up at him smiling. I can feel his breath slowing as I lean against him.
“Wasnt he going to meet you?”
“Yes he was but he ended up going on a date with her instead.”
He looks in the distance, the stars fading from his eyes. As the sky grows darker we lay together in the dark.
I finally look up at him and his eyes are shut. I rest my head on his chest and hear no heart beat.
Tears pool under my eyes but I quickly wipe them away. I step out of the bed, put on a sheer black nightgown and make my way to the phone and dial the hospital.

The paramedics wheel him out on a stretcher and all I can do is watch. I slowly make my way up the stairs and quietly pack a suitcase. I don’t think I can stand being in the house without him.
Under the cover of the night I slip into my car and drive off into the distance.
I was in love with a dying man.
