you're an idiot, joe cooper

Summary:

basically coop tries to bleach his hair and fails so he wakes remer up to fix it

Work Text:

“This is so fucking weak dude!”

“You're such an idiot, Coop.”

Coop glares at Remer through the bathroom mirror, his hands clutching the edges of the sink. He's practically vibrating with irritation right now. He'd felt unbearably boring and wanted to do something new with his hair so he thought; hey, why not bleach it? Well. Why not? Because he knows absolutely fucking nothing about dealing with hair, that's why not. Remer rolls his eyes at the other man's glare, his fingers digging into Coop's hair, which he could really only describe as jarring right now. It's a mix of the natural brown with bright and unnatural yellow-blonde streaks - and not the professional highlights kind.

This stupid idea of Coop’s is exactly what had dragged him out of bed at two in the morning, his friend bitching about ‘looking stupid’ and needing Remer to fix him because ‘he knows how to deal with hair’. Remer has to bite back a yawn as his fingers move through Coop's hair, inspecting the damage. His glasses are sitting crooked on his nose, but he really doesn't care enough to reach up and fix them.

"Like, seriously dude, you fucking suck at this shit. Just come to me first next time. Don't wake me up in the middle of the night.” Remer goes on, shifting to the side to just narrowly dodge the elbow Coop throws his way.

"Shut up, Remer, it's embarrassing. I look so fucking gay right now.”

"You always look gay.”

Coop grumbles something under his breath at Remer's retort. He does not ‘always look gay’. This is the only time he's ever looked remotely gay. “Shut up asshole.” Coop repeats, aiming a kick at the other guy that completely misses him. Remer tugs his hair in warning, earning a sharp hiss of pain from the patchy bleached mess of a man before him. Eyebrows furrowing as he shoots Coop a glare through the mirror, Remer's grip tightens slightly.

Behave.” He snaps, wanting to get this over with so he can go back to sleep. It's too early for anything, after all, and they've got shit to do tomorrow. Like playing Nintendo and not applying for jobs. Coop looks as if he wants to argue, then he seems to think better of it and just shuts his mouth. Good. Remer's eyes return to his friend's hair, a soft sigh escaping his lips. This is gonna take an unnecessary amount of time to deal with, because Coop's an idiot who refuses to ask for help until he's already started something and realised halfway through that he has no idea what he's doing.

The shitty digital clock sitting on the bathroom counter turns to 4am just as Remer switches the shower off, letting Coop straighten back up and drip water all over the floor from his freshly rinsed hair. A towel is shoved into his face, and Coop's fingers scramble to grab it before it falls. He looks better now, his hair fully bleached and a nice pale blonde colour, none of that patchy yellow shit he'd woken Remer up to fix.

"There. Was it that hard to sit still for an hour?” Remer quips, eyeing the other man's hair as he begins to dry it with the towel before he turns away to shove everything back into the bathroom cupboard. He can't say that Coop looks bad blonde because he actually suits it, but he's also not exactly gonna tell him that either so he doesn't comment on it.

Coop, meanwhile, gives Remer a light shove as he moves past him, peering into the mirror at his new look. He turns his head side to side, staring at himself blankly before he awkwardly pats his friend's shoulder. “Thanks, dude,” He murmurs awkwardly, he's never been good at outwardly showing his appreciation so he hopes that's good enough. It's good enough for Remer, who just nods and elbows him lightly. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm going back to bed.” Then, the other man is leaving the bathroom and presumably going back to his bedroom.

Coop stands and stares at himself for another moment before he also heads out, flicking the bathroom light off behind him. He drags himself down the hall, yawning just as he makes it to his own room and flops down into bed.
