Work Text:
Lumiose City was just as Ash remembered, a dizzying maze of gleaming white that spiraled outward from the Prism Tower. Little had changed in the years since he last walked its streets with Serena, Bonnie, and Clemont, but then, he supposed cities like this didn't change much.
How he saw the city might not have changed, but the same couldn't be said for how the city saw him. Trainers everywhere greeted him with nods and waves. As he strolled past Pokémon Center on South Boulevard, a group of young girls ran up to him. The lead girl in the trio held a Plusle in her arms that yipped, prompting a greeting from its partner, Pikachu.
"I can't believe it's you!" she squealed, bouncing up and down. Her two friends were just as excited, gushing around him. They couldn't have been older than twelve.
"Your battle against Leon was so cool! When you beat Charizard, I was screaming so loud my dad came in to check on me!" her friend cried.
Ash chuckled, reaching up to ruffle Pikachu's fur. "It's all thanks to Pikachu. I couldn't have gotten anywhere without my Pokémon ."
"Yeah, but everyone has Pokémon. But you're the World Monarch!"
"Would you sign my Pokéball?" the first girl asked, holding out an expanded ball. It glistened with polish.
He took it, procuring a marker from his jacket. He'd learned quickly never to leave home without one, lest he disappoint his fans. It was weird, having fans. Normally, the only people who'd ever cheered for him were his traveling companions and friends.
Not that he minded, he thought with an inward smile, scrawling his name across the ball.
"There you go!" he said, placing it back in the girl's hand.
She beamed at it, holding it up so it caught the afternoon light. Her Plusle ran up her arm, rubbing it with its cheek.
Ash gave them a few more words, words he'd given hundreds of young trainers just like them. It had been a few months since he'd defeated Leon and become the World Monarch, and since then, his duties had taken him across the world, meeting fans and the upper echelon of battle society.
Meetings with champions and training gym leaders on proper battle etiquette were fun and all, but he lived for the moments with the young, aspiring trainers like these girls. He hadn't been so different from them when he set out on his journey eight years ago.
He smiled fondly as he bid them farewell, returning on his way past the Pokémon Center to Vernal Avenue.
Vernal Avenue was a bustle of activity even on a weekday, the shops and cafes flush with trainers spending their winnings. The air was sweet with the perfume of flower beds, and off in the distance, the spire of Lumiose Tower dominated the cityscape.
"Ash? Is that you?"
Ash turned at the sound of his name, a sweet, feminine voice tugging at his memories. But he didn't recognize the girl who had called him. She looked to be in her early twenties, with a beautiful face concealed behind a pair of blocky black glasses and shadowed by a hat. She had long, strawberry-colored hair that hung low in twin-tails and wore a white blouse with short, frilled sleeves and black pants.
"Hello!" he said, giving her a friendly if distant smile. Her face seemed familiar to him, but he couldn't quite place it. "Have we met before?"
She blinked, tilting her head slightly. A mischievous grin spread across her face. "Maybe? I'm Ariana. And congratulations on winning the tournament! I'm such a big fan."
Ariana. Definitely familiar, but it didn't ring any bells. Given how many people he'd met over the past few months, that wasn't surprising. It was a pretty name, though.
"Are you here for an autograph?" he asked, patting the marker in his pocket again.
She giggled. "No, nothing like that. I was just headed there, actually."
He turned to see where she was pointing. Boutique Couture.
"Really? Me too!"
She lit up. "Why don't we go together?"
He shrugged amiably. "Sure, why not?"
They walked through the crowded street, chatting idly as they made their way. She had a lovely, bright smile that made him feel at ease. But it was the way she carried herself that had his attention. She moved with an easy, practiced grace that seemed almost feline, her hips swaying in just the right way that, despite her plain appearance, was sure to turn a head. But beyond that, there was a confidence to her, a cool, collected air he'd only ever seen in the most experienced battlers.
"So, what's the occasion?" Aria asked as the staff let them in. That in itself was surprising. He'd been informed that only the best of the best could gain entry.
"Oh, there's an event at the Battle Chateau tonight I'm attending. Part of being the Monarch and all," he said, shrugging his shoulders sheepishly.
"That sounds like fun!" she said, her smile never wavering. "I've been told I've got an eye for fashion. Mind if I help you pick something out?"
"Really? You'd do that?"
"Of course! Nothing I love more than helping a rising star."
They stepped into the main lobby. It was just as opulent. All white marble with gold trim and mannequins wearing clothes that looked more art than garment. A receptionist in a sharp black suit and matching heels met them, her smile just as polished as the floor she walked on.
"Welcome, Mr. Ketchum, we've been expecting you," she said, her tone a smooth, practiced melody. "And hello..." She gave Ariana a polite, if curious, once-over. "Miss."
"Hi!" Ariana said with a little wave.
The receptionist gestured towards a hall. "If you'll follow me."
"Actually," Ariana said, taking Ash's arm. "I was thinking I'll show him around."
Ash glanced down at her, a bit confused. Her hand rested in the crook of his elbow, light but confident, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. She smiled up at him, and he shifted, awkwardly conscious of the way her breast pressed against his arm. She wasn't particularly large, but they were more than enough to be noticed.
The receptionist hesitated. "Is that alright with you, Mr. Ketchum?"
He quickly averted his eyes. "Yeah, that's fine."
She smiled brightly. "Wonderful. Let me know if you need any assistance."
"Let's go, Mr. Ketchum," Ariana said with a giggle, pulling him after her.
Boutique Couture had an impressive selection. As they strolled through rows of clothing and suits, Ash couldn't help but stare. He'd been forced to get several suits throughout his travels, but none of them matched the quality here.
"See anything you like?" Ariana asked.
He coughed. "Er, yeah, I guess. How about this one?"
He reached out, fingering the sleeve of a suit. It had coarser fabric than the others, but seemed a good fit.
"What? That one?"
"Is it that bad?"
She chuckled, shaking her head. "It's just a little...cheap, you know? If you're coming to a place like this, you should live a little!"
His cheeks colored, and he flipped over the price tab. He gasped. Two hundred thousand! That's cheap?"
She tugged his sleeve, taking him over to a display case. "These are proper suits, Ash. See? The price guarantees the quality."
He leaned forward and examined a dark black suit, and swallowed hard. Five hundred. People paid that much for clothes?
"That's...something." He shook his head.
"What, can't afford it? I have a hard time imagining the World Monarch can't get a decent suit."
"I've got plenty of decent suits," he muttered. "Just none that cost as much as a house in Pallet Town."
Her giggle was musical, and he relaxed, his smile coming back, if a bit bashful.
"I think you look nice in black," she said, looking between him and the suit. "Do you like the style?"
"It's alright, but the coat looks a little small," he admitted.
"Wait, you're serious?" She playfully hit his chest. "Come on, Ash, they don't sell you any of these display pieces. This boutique will tailor to fit. That's part of the price."
"What?" he stared at her. "But the events tonight!"
"They're very quick. If you place an order now, they'll get one fitted and hemmed before we leave."
“Hmm, what do you think, Pikachu?”
“Pika!”
“Yeah, me too.” Ash rubbed his chin, staring at the suit. After a moment, he nodded. "This'll work then. Thanks for the help."
"Oh, so decisive." She covered her mouth, suppressing another giggle. "I like that."
He chuckled, too. She really did have a nice smile. His gaze must have lingered a little too long, because she glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. He turned away, his face heating up a bit.
"So, er, what about you?" he asked.
She hummed, tapping her lip. "I'm thinking of picking up a new dress myself. Wanna help me out?"
"I can't say I know much about fashion."
"It'll be fun! You do owe me, remember?" she asked, gesturing to the suit.
"Ha, that's true. Just so long as it doesn't take too much time. I remember when Serena used to choose outfits for her performances. She used to take forever."
"Serena, eh?" There was a cool, measured note to her voice. "I think I remember her. What's she been up to?"
"Oh, the usual. Traveling the world. We met up a bit ago, but she said she wasn't going to be able to make it to Lumiose during my tour."
"Gotcha."
There was a long pause. An uncomfortable one.
Ariana mustered her smile. "Well, the women's section's upstairs. Shall we?"
He half-expected her to take his arm again, but she kept her hands clasped, giving him a furtive look before calling over the receptionist. After taking his sizes and completing the order, he followed Ariana upstairs. It was even grander and more spacious than the lower one, if that was even possible.
"They keep their offices and storage downstairs," Ariana explained.
"You seem to know a lot about this place. Do you come here often?"
"Oh, here and there. They have lovely accessories. I like their gloves and hats even more than their dresses."
It was a polite question, and a polite answer. Ash didn't assume much, given her current manner of dress and the lack of response she'd gotten from the receptionist. Her outfit was clean and certainly fashionable, but it was much too ordinary for someone who frequented such an expensive boutique. Only stars and celebrities could and would afford a wardrobe from here.
Ariana spent the next few minutes gliding around the store, examining dresses and fingering fabrics. He followed her around, carrying an ever-accumulating bundle of clothing.
"I thought you didn't need to touch the display pieces," he asked as she piled yet another dress in his arms.
"Well, now that you mention it, if you really wanted, you could have tried something on. But I think you'd look good in anything, so there was no need to worry."
"Is that right?" he chuckled ruefully, shaking his head. "Seems to me like you just wanted to get to this part."
She laughed. "You got me. As much as I enjoy shopping, looking for suits is a tad boring. But dresses! That's where you get variety. It's like a Pokémon battle. You have to learn matchups, skills, different fabrics, and how to move in them. The list just goes on!"
He smiled, not following a word of it, but enjoying her enthusiasm. If shopping were like battling, then he could understand any amount of passion.
"Alright. I think that's enough for now," she said, looking over the pile in his arms. He had to strain to see over it. She giggled, sliding a dress, a hat, and a few other accessories out from the middle. "Perfect. I'll be right back. Just wait there, on that bench."
Without waiting to see if he was following, or had even been capable of seeing where she pointed, she darted off, vanishing into a curtained changing booth. Ash stumbled over, nodding apologetically to an elderly couple examining some sun umbrellas as they stared at him. He felt like one of his Tauros back in Pallet Town.
He looked up as the curtain swished, and his mouth fell open. Ariana stepped out, the white sundress he'd been carrying hugged her curves and accented her natural beauty. The long, flowing skirt trailed around her, stopping a few inches below her knees, thin enough to show off the long, shapely lines of her legs. She wore a pair of long white gloves and a ribbon tied around her hair.
"What do you think?" she asked, a soft blush rising on her cheeks as she did a slow twirl. The fabric swirled around her legs like clouds, rising around her thighs.
Ash felt his throat go dry. He swallowed. "You look great."
"Oh, stop it." She smiled. "You can be honest. I'm a big girl, I can take a little criticism."
He looked away, trying to gather his thoughts.
"You know," she muttered, plucking at her skirt. "It's a little plain for what I had in mind. Hold on, I'll be right back."
"Right."
She returned to the changing room. Ash let out a long breath, glad to have a few minutes to cool down. Ariana was nice and fun to talk to, but her little display had definitely gotten his blood going. It reminded him of the times Serena or Dawn would dress up.
"Hey, how do I look now?"
This time, she emerged wearing a form-fitting purple dress. The skirt was asymmetrical, with a frilly hem that ran from about mid-thigh to mid-calf. It was tight, hugging the gentle curve of her hips and emphasizing the roundness of her behind.
She sauntered out with a grace foreign to the shy, innocent girl who'd worn the sun dress moments ago. There was a glimmer in her eyes and a coy tilt to her smile as she turned, hands clasped behind her.
"You like it?"
"Yeah! That color really brings out your eyes."
She stuttered a step, but quickly caught herself. She brushed a lock of hair away from her face and gave him a laugh. "I've heard that one before, you know."
He palmed the back of his neck. It was true, though. The wine red was much darker than her strawberry-colored eyes, but something about its silky sheen matched the shimmer of her irises.
"So, er, you decided on this one?" he asked.
She recoiled, staring at him in mock disbelief. "We've only just started!"
True to her words, the next ten minutes were filled with a wide assortment of clothing. From sleek and tight gowns to two-piece blouses and skirt combos. He noted she really favored long, graceful gloves, colorful skirts, and if she chose a blouse, it was usually white.
"You've been a great help," she said as she came out in the latest of many outfits. She twirled in the mirror, running her hands down the front. It was a dark black-and-white dress, with a black corset over a sheer white top and a long skirt in the same color scheme.
"I'm not sure I've done more than appreciate the view," he said with an embarrassed laugh.
"Hmm, so you have been looking. I was getting a little worried you were bored," she admitted with a wink.
"Nah, not at all. It's kind of fun seeing you try stuff on."
"Well, you're kind. But what do you think so far? Say, if I had to attend a nice party like the one you're going to?"
He looked her over again. The dress was certainly stylish and elegant. But there was a kind of subdued grace to it. Like she'd gone to the party for business rather than pleasure.
"It's pretty," he said. "But it seems a little...stiff, if you know what I mean."
"Oh, really?" She frowned. "So, something more like this?" she grabbed one of the dresses she'd discarded earlier. "And maybe paired with these gloves. Yes, I quite liked those. And these sandals? Do you think I need a sash or belt?"
As she went on about it, she stepped back into the changing room, and Ash relaxed back on the bench. He was surprised to find he'd meant what he said about it. It must have been over an hour already, yet he truly hadn't grown bored. Aria's enthusiasm was a bit infectious, and who would complain about watching a cute girl model all kinds of outfits for you?
That wasn't to say he wasn't ready to go. The receptionist had brought his suit out a few minutes ago, and he'd already paid.
When Ariana reappeared, Ash felt his breath catch in his throat. The wait had been worth it, alright. The dress she'd chosen was a shimmering white with a short, flared skirt that barely reached mid-thigh. The sleeveless bodice hugged her slender waist and chest, with a low-cut V-neck that tied around her neck, leaving her back bare. She wore long, elegant white gloves and a pair of sandals tied with ribbons that laced all the way up to her knees. Gentle red flowers were embroidered across the hem of the skirt and around the top of her gloves, matching her hair and eyes.
The only thing that broke the vision of beauty was her glasses, whose plain, black design stuck out like a sore thumb.
It wasn't the first time he'd seen any of the individual pieces, but seeing them in this specific combination gave him a much greater appreciation for the whole process.
"It's pretty grand," he said, nodding slowly. "Reminds me a lot of the coordinator's costumes.
She clapped lightly, beaming. "I love the way they bring smiles to people's faces. Do you think this will do the same?"
"I'm pretty sure you'd bring smiles even without it."
She covered her mouth, a little giggle escaping her lips. "Wow, you sure know how to flatter a girl. Let me change back, and we can check out."
He lifted his suit in its protective bag. "I'm already finished."
"You are?" She blinked in surprise. "Then that means we've been here long enough. I'm just starting to get hungry."
She let that hang, returning to the changing stall. As she gathered the clothing she hadn't chosen, intending to return them himself, but the receptionist passed by before she was out and took them, explaining she would settle the matter herself.
They met at the front counter. Ariana came out in her original attire, carrying her new outfit in a bag. Ash wordless took it, adding it to his suit in his hand.
"Oh? A gentleman, now?" she teased as they exited the Boutique. "Can I assume you'll be escorting me to my place, then?"
Ash chuckled at her joke, hefting the bags. "You did mention you're hungry, and I could go for something myself."
"Well, lucky me!" She twirled around to walk backward, hands clasped behind her back. "As thanks for all your help, let me treat you."
"You sure?"
"Yep!" She turned again and hooked her arm around his. "It's not every day I get to take the World Monarch out to lunch. I'm sure my friends will never believe me!"
"I'll sign your napkin," he offered.
She laughed again. "Deal."
Her pick was just down Vernal Avenue. It was a small, refined place called Cafe Classe. Given her love of shopping, he shouldn’t have been surprised when the theme of the place was just that: fashion.
As a sharply dressed waiter led them to their table, a group of young trainers approached them. Ash gave Aria an apologetic smile and greeted them with a wave, signing a few Pokeball, shirts, and even a cap or two, before taking his seat.
"Sorry about that."
Ariana smiled at him. "It's tough being famous, isn't it? I can't imagine how hard it must be without a disguise."
"A disguise?" he leaned back, glancing at the menu. "I used to know some people who were good at disguises. They had a surprising amount of talent, actually. When they weren't busy getting up to no good."
He smiled at the thought, absently scratching Pikachu's head.
They made small talk after that. Aria seemed mostly interested in him, evading any questions about her, so he let the conversation flow that way. He was always happy to talk about his journeys and battles, especially with such pleasant company.
He was almost reluctant to part ways when the meal ended. Ash paid, despite Aria's protests, and offered to walk her home, but she collected her bags.
"Maybe next time," she said with a wink.
He nodded, disappointed but understanding. Not everyone had the confidence to invite strangers to their homes. Not that she felt like a stranger to him. For some reason, he found himself hoping that feeling was mutual. He liked Ariana.
He returned to the Pokémon Center in Lumiose, where he was staying, and began to prepare for his event. It was surprising how much difference a fitted suit made, and a high-quality one at that. He turned in front of the mirror, nodding to himself. Ariana really did have a good eye.
He smiled, patting Pikachu on the head. It was going to be a good night, he decided. After all, how could it not, after such a nice day?
The Battle Chateau was a short way out of the city, just beyond Camphrier Town. The town had its own ancient walls, with a sort of manor overlooking the quiet houses. Ash didn't have much time to look around, but he'd made plenty of memories here during his Kalos journey to reminiscence when they traveled past the fields and flowers to the Battle Chateau.
The impressive structure loomed over the river, connected to both sides by white cobblestone bridges. Its walls were white stone, topped by a dark blue tile roof and four soaring towers. A handful of well-dressed men and women milled about the outside, strolling alongside the flowers or gazing out over the water.
Ash took a deep breath and straightened his shoulders before striding into their midst. He'd never really liked mixing with the elites of the world, and Kalos was no exception. He did like their nobility system, though he supposed he probably wouldn't have a chance to battle many people at this specific event.
But, now that he was the World Monarch, perhaps that would change. There were plenty of hidden gems scattered throughout the world that hadn't competed in the Masters Tournament. He might get lucky and find someone really special to battle.
The moment he stepped through the manor gates, he was swept into the fray. Lords and Ladies, elites and business owners, the Battle Chateau had drawn in the finest from all around Kalos. He was greeted warmly, of course, with servants offering to take his coat, and fine wine pressed into his hand. He found an excuse to get rid of it as soon as he could. He was only eighteen. Too early to be wasting his life with alcohol.
As things began to settle down, and he worked his way through the list of people he'd come to greet, a cheer rose from somewhere in the back. There was something about it that tugged at him, and he excused himself from a conversation and made his way. Others had the same idea, trickling into the main hall seated in the rear of the building. A stage had been constructed where the battle courts normally were, and a man in a tuxedo, one of the powerful lords he recognized, was addressing the gathering crowd.
"Thank you for coming, Lords and Ladies," he said with gusto, "In honor of this assembly, we've called for the finest Pokémon Performer in all the Kalos region. She graciously accepted and has agreed to give us a personal performance. Please welcome the Queen of Kalos, Aria!"
A spark jolted through Ash at the name. Aria. The back of his neck tingled as he rose on his tiptoes, peering above the heads of the others.
A beautiful girl took to the stage, dressed in an elegant white dress. Her back was to him, but he couldn't not have recognized the long, strawberry colored hair or delicate figure. Ariana?
She turned, her eyes sweeping over the crowd, until they found him. A small smile tugged at her lips, and she gave a little wave. Cheers erupted around Ash, every man and woman thinking the attention was for them. He just stood there and stared. Somehow, in the bright lights, on the stage, she was even more beautiful than in the store. And he'd been right about her glasses. The large, square-rimmed frames were gone, revealing her face in full. Her eyes, though hidden behind dark lashes and thin eyeliner, glittered, and her face, unobscured by hair or shadow, shone. She was even more radiant than the last time they'd met.
"That's right!" he said aloud, clapping once. He drew a few curious looks, but couldn't be bothered to notice. No wonder she seemed familiar! Why hadn't she said something? To think it wasn't the first time he'd been fooled by her Ariana act, either...
"Thank you!" Aria said, waving with both hands as she took the center stage. "I'm delighted to be here, bathed in the warmth of your smiles. I hope to make them all the brighter! Come with me, Delphox!"
She drew a Pokeball out and tossed it up, releasing a Delphox in a burst of white light. The crowd gave an appreciative cheer as it drew its wand, sparks dancing off its fur. They began to perform, weaving a spectacular mix of fire and light spread across the stage. Ghostly, violet flames flickered from the ground, creating waves of mist that shifted like roiling fog. Long ribbons of fire wove across the hall, twisting over the audience like graceful serpents. In the midst of the colorful tapestry, Aria danced, performing right alongside her partner.
Cheers and clapping rang out as they moved from one breathtaking spectacle to the next, but Ash could only watch, completely transfixed. He'd seen magical fire and psychic energy more times than he could count. It was the angel moving within that held his gaze.
Aria's dress sparkled with reflected hues of orange and violet as she danced. Her hair fluttered behind her, framing a joyful smile as she laughed, letting Delphox spin her by the hand. The way her skirt fluttered around her shapely thighs, drawing his eye to the slender curve of her waist, of her bodice that showed just a hint of cleavage...
The performance concluded with a final burst of sparks from Delphox's wand, showering them in glittering fireflies. They winked out one by one, leaving the room in utter silence. Aria had struck a final pose with her arms spread. Her chest heaved as she caught her breath, her skin glistening with a light sheen. She stood slowly, and curtsey, and the audience broke into thunderous applause.
Ash found himself joining in, his own palms stinging by the time she left the stage. A flurry of nobles surrounded her, giving praise and congratulations. He wanted to talk to her, too, but he also didn't want to bother her while she had company.
As he turned to go, Aria caught his eye, flashing him another brilliant smile. She mouthed something to him, but it was lost as the crowd swept her away.
Ash struggled to return to the party after that. Every time someone approached him or clapped him on the shoulder, he turned with a fluttering heart, but was met with disappointment. His smile slipped the instant the conversation was over, his thoughts dwelling on the Kalos Queen.
But then, as the night began to draw on, a hand gently tugged his sleeve.
"Having a good time, Ash?"
He turned. "Oh, hi. Er, sorry I didn't see you. I've been..."
He trailed off, his mind going blank as Aria appeared before him. She giggled at his speechlessness, falling in alongside him. Somehow, her hand slipped through his arm, resting in the crook of his elbow.
"I hope I'm not bothering you," she said, squeezing his arm. "You're the star of the show tonight, after all."
"Not at all!" He glanced down at her, marveling again at how different she looked without her disguise. She stood tall and confident, moving with poise and grace. But her smile was the same, warm and bright, just as he remembered from that morning. "You were remarkable. It's no wonder Serena lost to you."
"I should hope so! I've been practicing for a long time. I can't wait for her to come back and challenge me again. You know Palermo thinks she'll win. The nerve of her!"
Ash smiled alongside her. "Why didn't you tell me who you were? I can't believe I didn't recognize you."
"Oh, that? Wasn't it fun, just hanging out? I didn't want to ruin the mood or anything."
"You could never do that. It's been a long time since I've been able to kick back and relax. Makes me miss the times before I became the Monarch."
"Now you know why I love my disguise so much. You really should think about getting one."
He chuckled, shaking his head. "I might have to. If I do, you’re definitely helping me.”
“Oh?” She raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, for sure. Look at this thing. It's a perfect fit," he said, tugging at the hem of his coat with his free hand. "I've received more compliments on it tonight than I have on my other suits from the time I won the tournament until now!"
"I guess I am pretty amazing."
They both laughed and continued chatting as they strolled together. Ash could hear the whispers around them, the rumors circulating. The Kalos Queen and the World Monarch. But they didn't bother them. They were just words, and he'd been the subject of words more times than he cared to count.
Somehow, they ended up on a balcony overlooking the Route. Night had fallen, obscuring the banks on either side. A cool breeze rose off the river, winding around them. The last hints of pink hung over the western horizon, reflecting a few glittering stars in the east.
"You know, Ash, there's something I was wondering," Aria said, looking up at him. "You've been doing lots of traveling since winning the tournament, right? To all the regions?"
He nodded. "Yeah, first was Galar, then Kanto, and Hoenn. I just finished at Unova, and will probably be here a month or two before heading to Alola."
Her grip on his arm tightened ever so slightly. "And, er, have you ever...found someone?"
"I'm not sure what you mean."
She let out a breath. "Hah, I guessed as much. Someone like Serena, maybe? The way you talk about her...you're not...dating, are you?"
"What? Dating?" Ash stared at her. "I...no! We're just friends."
"Oh. I'm glad." The relief on her face was palpable, but he couldn't understand why.
"Yeah, I've never actually dated anyone," he said, rubbing the back of his head. "I've been so focused on battling and, well... no one's ever been into me, I guess."
Her lips twitched. "Is that right?"
"Yeah. Lots of people are impressed by the title, but that's all it is, I think."
"Mhmm. I think I get that."
He chuckled lightly. "I guess you do. Disguise, right?"
She covered her mouth, joining him with a giggle. "Yeah, a disguise. But sometimes, I think it'd be nice to show people who I really am."
She paused, then bit her lip, looking at him. Her eyes darted away.
"Hey, um, Ash?"
He raised an eyebrow. She gripped his arm tighter.
"It might be a little forward of me, but, er, I did mention I'd show you my house later, right? If we're all done here, want to go home with me?"
Her words held a weight to them he didn't quite get, but he nodded. "I'd love that. I've always wanted to see the Kalos Queen's ribbon collection, too."
She smiled back nervously. "Yeah, we can do that, and...other things."
He wondered what other things meant, but didn't press. They bid farewell to the hosts and, together, slipped out into the darkening evening. As they traveled back to Lumiose, Ash caught himself watching her, admiring the way the burgeoning starlight glittered in her eyes.
"You have an apartment?" Ash asked, looking up as they stopped in front of a swanky high-rise. It was on North Boulevard, just above the North Pokémon Center. The Prism tower was blocked by the other buildings, but its golden glow could be seen shining into the sky.
Aria laughed, pulling out a key from a small clutch purse. "It's a bit much, isn't it? I told myself when I made it big, I'd get a nice place. You know, live a little."
"I guess I always thought you'd have a nice house for yourself. With some security, maybe."
She shrugged. "Another reason for the disguise. And I don't need security with a strong man like you escorting me around."
"Are you sure I can come in? I don't want to bother you or anything."
"Oh, please." She waved dismissively. "I'll be fine. It's not often I get guests, so I'll apologize in advance for the mess."
The doorman let them in, and they made their way to a small elevator. It took them to the top floor, where she slipped her key into the lock and opened the door.
"Well, it's home," she said, closing it behind them.
Her apartment was surprisingly modest. It opened into a living room setup with a couch, a TV, and a small coffee table. A kitchen by the entrance had an open counter looking into the room. The door to her bedroom was ajar. Most impressive were the full-length windows that ran along the back, overlooking Lumiose. They had a beautiful view of Prism Tower and the city's glittering lights.
"Wow!" he said, walking to the windows. "I wonder what Clermont's up to these days. He keeps that tower bright, doesn't he?"
Aria joined him, gazing distantly at the tower. Her hand rose, resting against the glass. "It's beautiful, don't you think? They say the lights can be seen from across Kalos. My goal was to be like that. To shine for everyone."
She turned, smiling at him. "Sorry, you must think I'm rambling."
He nodded, a lump forming in his throat. She was beautiful, with half of her face bathed in the warm golden light, and the other steeped in the shadows of the darkened room.
She swallowed hard and looked away, looking as if she was about to step back. Then she hesitated, and her fingers curled into the fabric of her skirt, bunching it up. She looked up at him, her eyes wavering.
"Um, Ash? Why did you come back with me?"
He shrugged, shifting his weight on his feet. "There's no way I could say no to such a pretty girl."
Her cheeks colored slightly, a teasing smile tugging at her lips. "Pretty, hmm? I'm surprised you'd even notice me after all the girls who have been throwing themselves at you."
He blinked, leaning back slightly. "What? That's not what's happening."
"Really?" She stepped closer. Too close, really. He was quite a bit taller, so she was looking up, but their faces were inches apart. "That's not what I saw."
Her eyes drifted down, settling on his lips. She licked hers.
"Ash?" she said softly. Her hand rose, curling tentatively, before she laid it on his arm. Her fingers were soft, bleeding warmth through his suit. "I've been watching you for a long time, you know. Ever since we met in that double battle, I've followed all your battles. The ones that were online, at least."
"A-Ah."
"I always hoped we'd meet again," she murmured. Her fingers trailed down his arm, brushing his wrist. "And you're just like I remember. Strong and noble, caring and kind. When we ran into each other earlier today, I just thought it would be fun to tease you a bit, but now..."
She trailed off, her blush deepening. Taking a breath, she reached her hand up, resting it on his shoulder. Ash stared, hardly daring to breathe, as she rose on her tiptoes. His eyes widened, her own closing, as their lips brushed. His pulse raced, the sudden sensation shooting through him.
Her lips were warm, soft, pressing gently into his. He could feel her heartbeat, pounding in time with his own.
A small gasp left her mouth, and she pulled away.
"Sorry! I'm sorry, I just thought--"
She cut off with a squeak as Ash leaned down, capturing her lips. A jolt went through him, stronger this time, more intense. Her lips trembled slightly before returning the kiss. It was clumsy and inexperienced. His only practice had been with Serena the day they'd parted. That had merely shocked him, but this...he'd never felt such heat, such desire. A stirring in his chest, a desire to hold the girl before him with all his strength.
Aria's hand moved from his shoulder, running up his neck and lacing it with her hand behind his head. His arms moved on their own, encircling her slim waist, drawing her close. He could feel her through her dress, the softness of her body against his.
She whimpered as his fingers slid down her sides, tracing the flare of her hips. Her fingers tangled in his hair, and her lips parted, tongue gliding against his lips. He followed suit, and a tingle shot through him as their tongues met, and their kiss grew heated, impassioned. His hands drifted lower, finding her rear, cupping it.
Aria's back arched, pushing into him. He squeezed lightly, and she squirmed, letting out a small gasp.
"Ash!" she gasped, tearing her lips away. They were both breathing hard. She had a dreamy look on her face, and she was panting, her lips slightly swollen from the intensity. "Ash, I...do you really want to?"
Her cheeks were crimson, and there was a hint of embarrassment in her eyes, but a small, excited smile on her lips.
"Do you?" he asked, conscious that his hands still held her firmly. She wasn't pulling away, but how could that be? She was the Kalos Queen, the top Pokémon Performer, and an idol to trainers everywhere.
She answered with another kiss. This one was shorter, but no less hungry. When she drew away, she gave a coy laugh and ran her hand down his chest.
"Is that enough?"
Even now, she was teasing him. He smiled, giving her ass another squeeze. She yelped, pouting, but couldn't hide her blush.
Their lips met again, and Ash slid a hand down her thigh, lifting her leg, hiking her dress up. Aria made a sound in the back of her throat, half-moan and half-chuckle, as he caressed her thigh, drawing it to his waist. He was suddenly aware of the growing hardness in his trousers pressing against her as she ground her body against his.
He kissed her more aggressively, and with his free hand, found the hem of her rumpled skirt. His fingers slipped under the thin fabric and ghosted over the bare flesh of her bottom. He was only teasing, searching for her panties before stopping, but found nothing but the smooth curve of her ass.
"No panties?" he murmured between kisses. With a dress that short? "You were on stage! Anyone could have–"
"That's what makes it fun," she replied breathlessly, her eyes dancing. “I wouldn’t have minded if you’d noticed…”
She rolled her hips, sending a thrill through him. Her dress was high enough that he could see her shaved mound rubbing against the bulge in his trousers.
Her hand slid between them, and her slender fingers grasped the outline of his cock. His breath caught, and a soft chuckle escaped her.
"I'm not the only one, it seems. Good. I was feeling shy all alone."
He snorted a laugh. "You? Shy?"
She found his belt, undoing it and fumbling with his zipper. His pants were suddenly loose, and she reached in. Her fingers circled his girth, stroking him. He couldn't help but groan at the feeling, at the silky sensation of her hand working his cock.
She was right, though. It was never good to be alone. He let her thigh go, taking her by the shoulders. His thumbs slipped under her sleeves, pushing them down her shoulders. The bodice of her dress followed, slipping down, and she wiggled, helping him pull the fabric down. Her bare chest came into view, two perfect, perky mounds crowned with pink, hard nipples.
"You're beautiful," he whispered, lowering his head to take one in his mouth.
"Oh my! Ash, wait!"
Her plea came too late. She gasped as his tongue slid across her skin, flicking her nipple. He wasn't really sure what he was doing, just acting on instinct, on the urge to taste and enjoy her. Her hand tightened around his cock, squeezing him.
He looked up, but she was biting her lower lip, staring down at him with lust-filled eyes. She finally let go of him and set about working his jacket off. Ash raised his arms, helping her remove the rest of his suit. He returned the favor, working the dress over her hips and offering her a hand, helping her step out of it. She stripped her gloves and tossed her hat aside. As he'd guessed, she wore nothing beneath her dress, standing as naked as he was.
She was as beautiful as he had imagined. Slim, but with full curves, her body every bit as shapely as her dress suggested.
"Like what you see?" she asked coyly, sidling up to him, spreading her arms out.
"Yeah," he replied breathlessly.
She ran her hand across his chest. "I didn't know you were in such good shape. These muscles...but they're still not as hard as this," she murmured, grasping his cock again. She stroked it a few times, then let go, turning with a swish of her hair, gesturing to him with a flirty smile.
They retreated to her bedroom, leaving their expensive clothing scattered in heaps across the floor. Her bed was massive, with a soft, plush mattress that sank beneath his weight as Aria placed her hands on his chest and pushed him back onto it. She crawled between his legs and slid over his cock, dragging her breasts up his stomach and chest. She lingered over him, straddling his waist, her hands planted on either side of his head.
She kissed him again, pressing her lower body against his hips, trapping his cock between their stomachs. Slowly, she rolled her hips, grinding herself against him. He could feel her wetness, the feathery soft warmth of her lips spreading around his length.
"You're so big," she murmured, resting her forehead against his, looking into his eyes. "I've never had one before, but I guess...I always thought they'd be smaller. Maybe most are, but you...you're a champion, through and through."
She reached between them, gripping his cock. Her touch was hot, sending a jolt through him. She sat up straight, kneeling, and positioned him between her spread thighs. She lowered herself until his head wedged against her, catching on her tightness. She wobbled there, biting her lip, a flicker of fear passing through her eyes.
Ash reached up, grasping her hips with steadying hands. "I've got you. There's no need to force yourself."
She stared down at him, her breasts heaving with every breath. The lights from the window framed her, giving her a heavenly glow.
"Thank you, Ash," she whispered. "But I'm ready."
She sat, sinking onto him. Ash hissed through his teeth as the incredible warmth enveloped him. It was like nothing he'd ever felt, squeezing and slick, drawing him in. She paused halfway, trembling violently, and he felt something tear.
She squeezed her eyes shut. "It hurts…” A bead of red joined the glistening moisture of her arousal, trickling down his exposed length. Her entire body clenched, gripping him in a vice grip.
Ash held her as she adjusted to his size, staring at their union with wide eyes. He'd never even considered having sex with a girl before, yet now...here was one of the most beautiful women he'd ever seen coiled tightly around his girth, struggling to take him. Every instinct urged him to thrust, to claim her here and now, but he restrained himself, digging his fingers into her flesh with the effort.
At last, Aria loosened again, taking another breath. Her eyes narrowed with determination, that same look he'd seen as she competed in battles and showcases. He held back a smile, not wanting to belittle her pain. But damn, it was cute.
She sank another inch, whimpering. But now her hips had stopped trembling. Slowly, gently, she slid down his length, taking him inside. When their hips met, she paused again, breathing hard.
"There, done," she panted, doing her best to look smug. "Gotta be what, two feet long?"
He couldn't hold back a laugh, stroking her sides. "Maybe seven inches."
Her lip stuck out in a pout. "Only seven? It feels like I've got an entire onyx up there!"
Her joke lightened the mood, but her face remained tight. Tears gathered in the corners of her eyes, and her knuckles were white from clenching the sheets.
But damn, she was hot. Her lips stretched around him, red and puffy from his intrusion, with little droplets of her blood smearing them. Her breasts heaved with every uneven pant, nipples pert. She groaned as he grew even harder, resting a hand on her stomach just above her navel.
"Ugh, I can feel you everywhere..." she moaned, rubbing back and forth.
Ash shivered as he felt the weight of her hand on his cock, pressing into her stomach. Was he really that deep? The idea sent a jolt of pleasure through him, his cock pulsing.
He pushed himself up into a sitting position, kissing her. Her arms looped around his neck, returning the gesture, though stiffly. Ash ran his hands up and down her back, comforting, gentle.
"You feel amazing," he whispered.
"You're...getting there," she groaned. "I really didn't think this through. But by Arceus, is this worth it."
She started to move, not quite able to thrust properly, but wiggling back and forth on his shaft, letting it touch new places. At last, she gave a firm nod and gently pushed him back down again.
"I got this. Sit back and enjoy the show, alright?"
She shifted her weight forward, drawing off him, and began a slow rise and fall. She whimpered whenever she took his full length again, but each time grew more confident, and the discomfort eased. She rested a hand on his stomach, the other propped behind her on his thigh, letting him admire the full length of her body.
He reached out and cupped her breasts, and she moaned softly. They filled his hands perfectly. Her pace quickened as he teased and groped her, kneading them. She sat up a little straighter, and every time she slid down his length, the shadows on her stomach shifted slightly, hinting at his girth wedged against her navel.
Ash began to feel a burning pressure building in his loins, growing with every thrust. From the flush on her face and the heat of her pants, he could tell she felt the same way.
With a high-pitched gasp, Aria leaned back, resting her hands on his knees, lifting herself higher and falling with a quick slap of their bodies. Her skin shone with exertion. Her breasts bounced in mesmerizing rhythm, and though she tried to keep her composure, her face collapsed into lustful bliss.
She rode him for a minute, building speed and rhythm, but when the pressure grew too much, she gasped, accidentally dropping her weight onto him. She whined, her back arching and toes curling as he penetrated her to the core, throwing back her head in a throaty moan. A small dribble of arousal seeped from her, sliding down his balls.
Several heartbeats passed, and she sagged, loosening around him again. After a few ragged pants, she gathered herself again and began rocking her hips.
"You like that, right?" she asked, blinking back an errant tear.
He chuckled, groping her ass. "Me? Of course, but...don't you think it's a little late to pretend you didn't just...?"
He gestured with his hands, fumbling the words. She laughed weakly and reached down, grabbing his wrists.
"Yeah, yeah, I came first. Don't let it get to your head."
"I would never."
They continued for a bit, with Ash reaching up to massage her breasts. Aria had lost some of her vigor, her thighs visibly shaking, but the moans coming from her mouth were definitely pleasurable. He loved the way she squirmed and clenched around him whenever he pinched her nipples. And, all the while, the pressure he'd felt before returning steadily built in time with her moans.
At last, when the fire was about to overwhelm him, Aria jerked again, her eyes rolling up in her head. She tightened around him again, milking him deep, driving him over the edge.
Ash came with a groan, squeezing her breasts hard as he emptied himself inside her. She trembled as his heat flooded her, whimpering his name over and over in the throes of her orgasm.
He didn't know how long it lasted, only that he collapsed back onto the bed in the aftermath, and Aria toppled down after, their sweat-soaked bodies sticking together. His softening cock slipped out of her, a gush of semen chasing it out of her winking hole.
"Goodness," she panted, curling into him. "You came so much..." She was quiet for a moment, and then she stiffened, staring at him with wide eyes. "You...you just...inside?"
She covered her mouth, the realization crashing over her.
Ash’s heart twisted as he stared at the sticky mess between them. "I'm sorry! I should have--"
"Ah! No, it's okay, I just--" Her blush returned with a vengeance, and she waved her hands frantically. "It was a bit sudden, and I didn't really...there's just so much..."
"You think so? I feel like I'm just getting started."
She flopped off of him, lying on her back, limbs splayed. Her chest heaved as she covered her eyes with a forearm. "Arceus...what am I getting into with you, Ash Ketchum?"
Ash turned, gazing down at her with a soft smile. The way she glowed, with a satisfied, warm flush and a light sheen of sweat, she'd never been more radiant. His hand stroked up her side, resting on her stomach.
"Then you won't mind if we continue?"
"Not at all. But don't think I'm doing all the work. I don't even think I can stand right now."
"Then I'll have to carry you."
He sat up and grabbed her, scooping her into his arms. She laughed as he lifted her into his lap, her back to his chest. He sat on the edge of the bed, his legs dangling and feet on the ground, casually groping her breasts. His cock began to harden again, rising to stand proud between her thighs. She squired as his girth spread her legs apart, rubbing up and down her folds.
"It's sensitive," she gasped, hands tightening on his knees. "Be careful."
He kissed her shoulder, leaving a trail up her neck until his lips found her ear. "Just sit back and let me handle it, alright?"
"Um, I don't think--Ah!"
He grasped his cock, adjusting the angle, and speared her. He slipped in without any resistance and was soon seated deep inside her. She was looser than before, still snug, but no longer fighting to contain him. She gasped and shuddered, but when she caught her breath, she laughed.
"Well, that wasn't so bad." She arched her back, wiggling her butt against him. "Now do that again, only harder."
"As you wish."
He hooked his arms under her legs. She had a half-second to squirm before he rose, lifting her by her thighs, spreading her wide. She yelped as she crashed down on him, her weight balanced between his arms and his cock. He laced his fingers behind her head, trapping her knees over her shoulders, pinning her arms helplessly at her sides.
Ash groaned, bouncing her up and down a few times, getting used to her heft. She was lighter than he thought, and her flexibility surprised him, allowing him to hold her with ease. Once he was confident he had her, he really started, lifting her and letting gravity take her down, thrusting up with his hips to meet her.
"Unnn!" Aria threw back her head and moaned. Her tongue hung from her mouth as she surrendered to his strength, no longer able to concentrate on squirming out.
He took that as permission, fucking her hard and fast as she'd asked. Her breasts jiggled with the impact of every thrust, and he regretted not having another pair of hands to fondle them. Maybe Machamps had something going for them.
Not twenty thrusts in, and Aria's tightness returned. He slowed, but she shouted at him, wriggling as much as she could to make him continue.
"I'm--close! Don't stop, just...give it...Ah!"
She cut off with another sharp cry. She shook violently in his grasp, her back arching in an almost painful angle as her orgasm struck. He kept up his assault, pulling her onto his cock as she cummed all over him. A stream of fluid ran down his thighs, dripping from their union.
Ash let out a strangled groan. Her pussy clamping around him almost sent him over the edge, but he held on until her orgasm passed, and she went limp in his arms. Once she'd lowered her guard, he pushed into her again and again, taking his pleasure from her overstimulated body.
Aria whined with every stroke, but didn't stop him. Whatever feelings her teasing had awoken within him weren't going away, driving him on to claim every last inch of this girl. He thrust and thrust, her voice rising again, growing frantic.
"I'm cumming again! Ash! I can't–I can't!"
He grunted and, with one final stroke, drove his cock to the base. Her words caught in her throat, and her entire body spasmed, her head thrashing and hips jerking as her climax exploded around him. A gush of her juices bathed his cock and balls, and this time, Ash didn't hold back. He ground as deeply as he could, running hard against her cervix, and released.
Thick ropes of his cum shot inside her, filling her depths. Aria squealed, clawing weakly at his arms. He emptied himself, rocking in her, dragging out her orgasm as well. When he finally subsided, his heart thundered in his chest, and his body shook. The intensity of the sensation made his limbs go numb, and he staggered back, falling heavily onto the bed.
Aria's legs slipped from his grasp, flopping over his thighs, leaving her impaled pussy on full display. He rocked her, lifting her just enough to get his cock to slip free in a dribble of cum. Her pussy gaped open, red and puffy, thoroughly stretched.
She twitched one last time, a weak stream of arousal following his seed, dripping down his cock.
"Hah...ha...Ash..." she panted. "What the...I'm dying. I'm literally dying. I can't feel anything below my belly button."
"Too much?" he asked.
"Yes. Too much. I'll be lucky to ever walk again."
She fell against him, letting her head loll back on his shoulder. Ash put an arm around her, stroking her chest with his free hand.
Her eyes fluttered, and she looked up at him, dull and hazy. "I...I love you..."
He shivered, the words hitting him like a bucket of cold water. After a second, he smiled faintly. "I love you too."
But she was already asleep.
***
A month had passed since Ash left Lumiose City, touring each of the major cities in the Kalos region. Dendamille, Anistar, Shallour City; his duties as the Monarch took him from east to west and back again. At every turn, fans greeted him, and young trainers sought his advice.
He tried to focus on his work, but it was hard to keep his mind from wandering. He hadn't seen Aria since the night at the Battle Chateau. It was his feeling that their wild night together could be the start of something new, but at the same time, it also felt like a distant dream. How could there possibly be such a lovely, beautiful girl interested in him? She'd said as much, but...that was a long time ago.
At the end of his tour, he returned to Lumiose City for a final goodbye. She was on his mind the entire trip, and that was no different as he stepped onto the Centrico Plaza surrounding Prism Tower. A few wandering tourists recognized him, and a young group of trainers walking their Pokémon asked him for autographs.
"Hello, Ash."
The familiar voice froze him in his tracks. Slowly, he turned to find Aria standing just a few paces away, smiling brightly at him. She hid her face behind glasses, and had her long hair tied in twintails, but she still looked beautiful in a long, colorful skirt and white blouse.
"A-Aria! What are you doing here?"
Her eyes sparkled mischievously as she sauntered over to him. "You didn't think I'd miss seeing you off, did you?"
"I hoped you wouldn't."
She nodded, and a silence lapsed between them. Ash shifted awkwardly, memories of that night flitting through his mind. What exactly did one say in a situation like this?
Aria picked at her sleeve, then straightened, sticking her hands in her pockets. "Hey, um...about that night..."
He nodded, a lump forming in his throat.
"Well, er...do you, um, like me?" He opened his mouth to answer, but she hurriedly waved her hands, continuing, "Look, what we did...the truth is, I think when we, um…you know…”
Ash didn’t, so he shook his head.
“Arceus, you're dense,” she said, pressing a hand to her head. “Ash, maybe we should have, um…pulled out.”
She said it in such a small, timid voice he almost didn't recognize it. Her gaze remained stubbornly averted, her cheeks dark red.
Ash blinked slowly, staring at her in shock. Then a wide grin split his face, and he laughed. She glanced up, startled.
"That's wonderful!"
"It is? I thought you'd...I didn't know if you..."
He caught her by the shoulders, squeezing. "Of course I'm happy! Aria...I really do like you. More than that, even. I can't remember the last time I relaxed, but the entire time we were shopping together, I was totally at ease."
She broke into a relieved smile. "I felt the same way. So many come after me for my fame or wealth, but you...I guess you're not really concerned about that."
"Hah, you could say that. Aria, if you're willing, I'd like to give things a shot. I know it's asking a lot for a performer like you, but--"
"No, not at all!" She shook her head feverishly. "I'm not young anymore, not for my profession. Twenty-three, you know. I've been thinking about settling down, or at least taking things easy for a while."
He nodded slowly. "Then why not come with me?"
"What?" She blinked, tilting her head.
"Yeah, take some time, travel the world. See where things go. With us, and with this," he murmured, resting a hand on her stomach.
She shivered at his touch, a light blush coloring her cheeks. At last, a wide smile broke across her face. "Really? You'd be willing to do that?"
"I would. I've already realized my greatest dream, and I think it's high time I found a new one. I'd like you to be a part of that."
She took his hand, her eyes shining. "I would really love that."
They leaned forward, pressing their lips together. Gasps filled the air around them as fans and trainers noticed, but Ash didn't care. He could get used to it, actually.
He'd always had companions, but this one would be different. Two journeys had ended, and one more began. He couldn't wait to see where it took them.
