Work Text:
It was a cloudy day in Hammerlocke.
The kind she liked.
Aria looked up, tense in her pink sundress. Her clothes weren’t the most appropriate for this weather, she only could hope that it didn’t rain heavily, she only brought a small umbrella.
And… she waited, and waited, and waited once again.
It was no surprise, she had been dumped, by her girlfriend, nonetheless…
The questions flooded her mind, like the tears flooded her eyes:
I am that unlovable?
Was my mom right?
I am disgusting?
And when the rain started, it was like the skies didn’t have mercy on poor Aria, t rained heavily regardless of what she was wearing. Like a mocking guardian who knew they were right.
Just like mom
Her mom was homophobic, and she discovered that Aria liked a girl. An undeserved hell was unleashed upon her…
But rain doesn’t care of origins, that was recomforting for poor Aria.
The Hammerlocke gym had become a safe place during that time.
Raihan was kind to her, Sebastian made sure that she ate.
Her sweet moment of relishing good memories was quickly interrupted by the feeling that the raining had stopped.
She looked up, only to stare at fabric. The inside of an umbrella.
“…huh?”
And then she turned to look beside her, a small child had put their umbrella over her
“Why are you sad miss? You’re really pretty, my mommy says that pretty girls don’t look pretty sad!” the little girl announced.
Aria smiled at her, her smile asymmetrical. “well, in this little world are people who don’t look pretty while being happy either. The world is really mean to grown-ups.”
The kid pouted. “that’s dumb!”
Aria smiled. “Why may I ask?”
The kid announced proudly. “Because that’s dumb! My mommy told me that you’ll always be pretty on the right person’s eye!’
Aria sighed, knowing not to fight a child blissful ignorance.
“Miss? You don’t have a partner?”
Aria’s ears perked up at the question. “Why you ask?”
The kid announced innocently. “I wanna marry someone as beautiful you when I grow up! I wanted to ask them. But if you don’t, would you wait for me?”
Aria smiled, the little girl was really set into telling her that she was pretty.
Aria kept smiling. “You’re truly kind.”
The little girl handed Aria a treat. “Miss, please smile more! Even if life gets hard! that’s what my mommy says to motivate me!”
...And those words stayed with Aria.
For longer times than her mom’s ever did.
