Chapter Text
Trees over their heads, as the gleaming light shrouds their face. A leaf falls and gently kisses Lucy’s forehead. She brushed it off and looked beside her to see Barry and Simon asleep like usual. She’s used to sitting and staring at the different shapes the clouds form. I didn’t feel like 5 years had passed since they met. There hasn’t been much new other than starting high school in a few months and a few vacant houses surrounding their homes.
Then, just a few moments later, the peaceful atmosphere was interrupted by the blaring sound of horns echoing. Lucy, Barry, and Simon exchanged startled glances before springing to their feet and dashing towards the source of the commotion. As they hurried along the familiar path leading home, they were greeted by an unexpected and vibrant scene: the once-empty street was now bustling with a flurry of activity as moving trucks lined the road and families of all shapes and sizes spilled out onto the sidewalks. In what felt like the blink of an eye, the neighborhood, which had felt so deserted for years, had transformed into a lively community. Wolf and Rabbit had also emerged from their homes, their eyes wide with curiosity as they observed the newcomers busily unloading boxes, furniture, and all manner of belongings onto the front lawns. Together, they all stood in awe, watching their once-silent street come alive. The sounds of laughter and conversation filled the air as neighbors greeted one another for the first time.
More specifically, a sheep and a horse worked together, straining as they maneuvered a heavy wooden table through the doorway.Suddenly, a young fox and a wolf darted out from behind a moving van, their movements quick and energetic, giving the impression they might pounce on the unsuspecting sheep and horse. Lucy won't let her new neighbors get eaten on their first day here. She sprinted quickly to guard the poor sheep and horse couple trying to survive just like her. Blocking the path and using all of her courage, she called out the predators before they could try anything before anything happened. Everyone stops their conversations and stares at the ruckus that Lucy had created.
“I’m not letting any of my new neighbours get attacked on their first day, go and scram before I make you!” They looked at her with open eyes then they started to giggle. How dare these predators be so cruel as to laugh in her face while she’s being a hero? Then the sheep, whom she was protecting, came and patted her on the head.
“We appreciate your help, dear, but they weren’t going to attack us.” The little fox runs up, and the sheep picks him up and spins him around. “We’re actually a family; we may not be the same species, but we promise they would never hurt anyone.”
Lucy was in shock, she had never seen prey raising predators? It’s unheard of! But she can’t really do anything other than back away into her house out of embarrassment. Everyone just ignores it and goes back to unpacking and greeting one another. Until everyone stops and looks out as heels echo through the streets.
It was stuck on Simon's and Barry’s as they chatted with each other about why so many new neighbors could arrive in one day. “I wonder if it has anything to do with all of those letters we keep getting” Barry stated as he threw a ball at Simon. “Well whatever it is, maybe there is another wolf like us? We only really hang out with Lucy but she has rabbit friends of her own" Simon throws it back to Barry but misses. Fox looks up annoyed from his magazine “Stop throwing that around, or you’ll break someth-." Wolf comes into the living room as the ball hits him in the chest making him grunt.
The boys laugh and help him up until then they hear a knock on the door, dropping wolf again. A weirdly familiar voice spoke from the other side, “President of the HOA, here for the first inspections.”
Fox begrudgingly stands up and opens the door and stares at the lady. As the light enters their home, wolf, barry, and simon look up and widen their eyes because in front of them was their mother, holding a clipboard staring at them back. The family had been reunited…
