It was a peaceful day in town, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping... and Wolf sat with his kids in the living room, playing videogames with them. He didn't quite understand what was going on on the screen before them, but they were having a good time! That is, until the phone rang. Wolf stood up and made his way over, grumbling a "Who is this?" once he picked up the phone.
"Hello, my dear Wolf" His ears perked up at the familiar voice.
"Ah, it's just you... What is it now?" He couldn't help the smile that formed on his face.
"Well I was just wondering if you could come over, I've got something to discuss with you" Wolf looked at his kids for a split second. He hasn't been spending enough time with them lately and hoped that today he could bond a little with them.
"It better be quick, I'm in the middle of something"
"Oh I assure you, darling, it'll be done before you can say 'rabbit'!" Wolf grumbled a little, but gave in.
"Ah fine, I'm on my way there now..." He hung up the phone and made his way to the front door, putting on his leather jacket as he talked to his children. "I'm going to Fox's house. Simon, you're in charge!"
"Uh-huh!" Responded the two boys in unison.
"Make a sandwich or something if I'm not here by dinnertime" Something told him that that quick conversation would actually take quite a while.
"Uh-huh!" Hummed the kids again, absorbed by their game.
Wolf sighed and made his way out.

Fox hummed a tune as he made some tea, and, just as he was done, the doorbell rang. He made his way to his front door in an elegant manner, and opened the door gently.
"Ah, it's nice to see you Wolf. Come in, please! I've made tea"
The wolf made his way inside and stood by the table, crossing his arms and staring at Fox as he served two cups.
"So what did you want to.. discuss?"
"Well, you see, darling..." Began Fox as he sat at the table, placing one cup in front of each other. "We've been uh... Seeing each other, for non-rabbit causes, for quite a while now" He paused. "Which I do quite enjoy, don't get me wrong. I simply was wondering if we could take our partnership to... the next level"
"Next level? What level are we even at?" Wolf leaned over the table, closer to the other.
"Well... friendship, of course!"
They both sat in silence for what felt like hours. And then Fox spoke up.
He sighed and said. "Alright. Wolf, I want to go on a date with you.Take me out to dinner! Somewhere nice"
"A date??" Wolf's face flushed and tensed up.
"What? Can't two gentlemen go out on a date?"
"W-w-well yes! But-but- Fox, we're different species" Wolf stammered.
"I'm aware" He took a sip, the tea gone cold by now. "I take it you don't feel the same?"
"I do! But where have you even seen a relationship between two different species?" Wolf's ear twitched.
"I'll be honest; nowhere." He placed his cup down and looked up at Wolf, then placed his paw on top of the other's, his thumb brushing over Wolf's knuckles. "Just give it a chance, will you? Just this once" Fox batted his eyelashes.
Wolf sighed and gave up, he wanted this as much as Fox did, and simply couldn't resist his charm. "Fine, we'll go on a date. Did you have a place in mind?"
"Why of course I do, dear..."

"Dad, where are you going now?"
"You told us you were going to play Alley Fighting with us!"
Wolf was trying his best to look... decent, for his date. I mean, Fox probably chose a fancy place, and he always tends to complain about how messy Wolf looks. He grabbed the cleanest shirt in his wardrobe, kind of brushed his fur, and called it a day.
"I'm sorry kids, I've got something to do tonight. I ordered pizza so listen for the doorbell"
"Hell yeah, pizza!!" Both of the kids exclaimed, their father's promise about playing with them forgotten. Wolf took a deep breath to (sort of) calm his nerves and walked out, making his way to the restaurant. He kind of got lost in the way but eventually got there. Once inside, he looked around for Fox, quickly spotting him.
"Is that the best outfit you could put together for our date?" Fox raised an eyebrow, eyes scanning Wolf's clothes as he sat down.
"Uh- Well, yeah" Fox smirked at that, he had to admit he found Wolf's lack of formal attire quite endearing.
"So... What was the important thing you were doing earlier?" Fox said, pouring wine onto their glasses.
Wolf's eyes darted around the fancy room. All sorts of carnivores sat with their partners, elegantly enjoying their food. "Oh I was just enjoying some father-son time with my cubs. Been a while since we've hung out" Wolf chuckled, looking down at his claws.
Fox hummed, eyes fixed on the other as he placed the bottle down and reached for his glass. He had to admit he felt a bit guilty now, deep down, he also cared for Wolf's kids. He shook his head slightly and began a conversation with Wolf. Well, if it can even be considered a conversation, Wolf wasn't really speaking.
“But, moving on… What are you going to order, dear?”
“Eh?” Wolf was snapped back at Fox’s question. He fumbled with the menu, trying to get it open.
Fox smirked and handed the other his already open menu. “I was thinking of getting the lamb for two… Although the lobster doesn’t sound bad”
“Lobster…” Wolf mumbled, reading some of the options on the menu. “Lobster, yeah… We could- we could go with that”
“Are you nervous?” Fox stared into Wolf’s eyes, chin softly resting on his hand.
“Nervous? Me? Ha! Very funny” Wolf gripped the table, nearly ripping a chunk of the wood off.
“It’s alright, you big scary wolf… I must admit, I am kind of nervous as well. Just- lower your voice would you? Don’t want to be kicked out” Wolf nodded and mumbled a ‘sorry’.
He looks up at his date and smiles, when Fox notices, he smiles back. I think it’s safe to say he feels less nervous already.
