Chapter 16: Chapter Sixteen

Notes:

Okay... so um sorry? I had the biggest case of writers block for the longest time and this probably isn't the best chapter either. At first when I started writing this chapter I realized I wasn't exactly sure where I was going to take this fic, but I think, keyword there, think I do now. And after kind of getting over this writers block I've been writing a genshin impact fic but I don't know what exactly I'm doing with it so its gonna hide away in my computer for now.

I will also try and write another chapter for Baby Jungkook sometime soon so stay tuned for that if you enjoy that one. Again I am so sorry for the long wait for this chapter, please enjoy!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Vlad floated into his still-open portal landing harshly on his feet on the metal tile underneath him. He sighed swiping a hand down his face as he transformed back into his human form. He quickly shut the portal doors and used the stairs leading up and into a sitting room, the 'door' being the fireplace and opening as he walked out. He shut it once he was in the sitting room making sure everything was in order and turned around only to spot Jasmine.

She was curled up on a small sofa in front of the fireplace asleep with a small throw blanket over her. He knelt down and softly whispered shaking her shoulder just slightly. "Jasmine, wake up, the sofa can't be that comfortable."

After a few moments, she groaned and slowly opened her eyes, blinking up at him, trying to recognize the face in front of her. She saw long gray hair and a beard as well as a black suit, and the man wearing it looked haggard—tired... no exhausted, just like her.

"Uncle... Vlad?" She questioned and sat up rubbing at her eyes in hopes of waking herself up a bit more. "When did... you get back?"

He grabbed the blanket wrapped it around her shoulders and said, "Just now, let's get you in an actual bed. Where's Sam and Tucker?"

She yawned and allowed Vlad to help her stand and they left the room walking down the hallway toward the bedrooms. "They had to get home, so it's just been me here and your maids coming in every day to clean as well as your, I'm guessing butler. Although he seems a bit... weird to me. I hope I'm not being mean by saying that."

Vlad could have chuckled at that if he had any energy left but only smiled and said, "It's alright, you only feel that way because he's a ghost. The maids are living humans though, they didn't question why you were the only one here?"

Jazz shook her head as they began walking up to the second floor. "Your butler is a ghost? Aren't you worried ghost hunters will find him here or something?"

Vlad shook his head, "No, not at all. Sebastian is an old smart and wise ghost, he can take care of himself. And I have sensors and blockers around my house and in the lab to keep ghost hunter's equipment from detecting any spiritual presence in the building."

Jazz nodded.

"He's a good man, Jasmine, dear, if you need someone to talk to, you can talk to him, I trust him very much," Vlad told her.

She nodded again yawning a bit.

"Have your parents tried anything? Have they come back to the manor for you?" Vlad asked her.

She shook her head leaning heavily into Vlad's side.

He smiled fondly at her and said, "Alright no more questions, you're falling asleep standing up." He quickly led her to the bedroom she'd been using, one that was close to his bedroom. He wanted her close in case something happened and he needed to get to her as soon as he could.

She wished him a good night after saying, "Also your office phone and cell phone have been going off. You've been gone for two months, I'm assuming it's work."

Vlad nodded and said, "Thank you, dear, now get to bed. I'll call the office in the morning after I get some rest." He paused though, could tell she wanted to ask something but was unsure if she should ask it even though he had a feeling of what that question may entail. He laid a hand on her shoulder and said, "Daniel is alright, he's awake but still resting. We'll talk more tomorrow."

She nodded and softly shut the door between them and Vlad went off to his room just a few rooms down from hers. He threw his suit off on the way to the bathroom connected to his room before turning the water on. He took a quick but scalding hot shower and promptly went to bed.

~~~~~
Vlad woke up late the next morning as he did not have his phone with him which is where his alarm was. But he needed some sleep anyway after being awake and caring for both Daniel and the tiny blob ghost Pluto. Pluto was doing great, it's healed and flying around like it usually would. It's still very skittish and prefers to stay right on Danny's shoulder as much as it can.
On the other hand, although awake, Danny was still heavily injured and couldn't do much. He'll float if he feels he has the energy but not much more than that. Vlad had asked him before he left the clocktower last night if he planned on ever going back to the world of the living. Danny had frozen up at the question and looked away from the older man with the tiniest shake of his head.
Neither Vlad nor Clockwork were surprised at the answer. If it had been either one of them in the young ghosts shoes they wouldn't want to go back either. But Vlad had to go back, he had a life to live regardless if he wanted, no needed, to stay right in that clock tower with Danny and Clockwork.
Vlad sighed as he sat up in bed running a tired hand down his face and climbing off the mattress. He walked into the bathroom washed his face brushed his teeth and shaved off some stubble that had grown since he'd been in the ghost zone. He dressed himself into a black three-piece suit, the shirt was white and the tie gray with a checkered pattern on it. His shoes were also a black color and he carefully brushed through the knots in his hair and tied his hair back in a low ponytail.
He walked out of his room and down the first floor toward the kitchen finding Jasmine already awake and making coffee.
She was humming to herself as she started the machine and Vlad smiled lightly sitting down at the island bar in the middle of the kitchen. "Good morning Jasmine," He said softly.
Although he had been trying not to scare her, it seemed she was too occupied to focus on her surroundings and jumped, turning around with a soft shout. "Oh, Uncle Vlad you scared me."
"I'm sorry my dear, are you doing okay?" He asked her.
She sighed lightly and sat next to him looking down at the marble countertop. "Honestly, I don't know. There's just so much going on right now. My younger brother who I thought was dead and could never come back has come back as... as a ghost. My ghost-obsessed parents experimented on him and tortured him. My uncle is... is a half-ghost because of something my... my parents did...," she choked on a sob as tears suddenly burst from her eyes.
Vlad immediately pulled her into his arms pressing her against his chest and let her cry it out. He understood that feeling, so much going on, so much not within your control. So much confusing emotions unable to figure out what to do and how to deal with it all.
Jazz cried for several minutes even after the coffee machine made a little beep to indicate the coffee was ready. Vlad held her rubbing her back and running his fingers through her hair. He had noticed that running his fingers through her hair was soothing to her and helped calm her from the throes of anxiety.
She was silent for a bit longer once her cries died down and Vlad was silent too, letting her gather her thoughts. He had a feeling she had a question but was unsure if she should ask it or not. She was always so easy to read, an open book to him.
"Is...," She spoke voice soft and so quiet and if Vlad didn't have the heightened hearing he did, he wouldn't have heard her. "Is Danny okay?"
He tensed a bit but kept his fingers running through Jazz's hair and contemplated his answer for a moment. Should he tell her the truth? That Daniel is still severely injured and is refusing to come back to the world of the living? Or should he lie and tell her he's okay? If only to calm her raging emotions and heart?
"Be honest okay," She spoke again pulling him from his thoughts. "Tell me the truth Uncle Vlad, I can handle it... I... I have to, for Danny."
He sighed closing his eyes for a brief moment and opened them and said, "He's not doing too well. He's awake but still severely injured and can't do much but float and even then he can't do it for too long or he gets exhausted."
Jazz tensed a bit but kept quiet her arms tightening slightly around Vlad's waist, her face tucked into his chest. Her crying had coaked his tie and parts of the black suit, somehow completely missing the white shirt underneath.
"And until further notice, or unless Daniel decides it on his own," Vlad continued, "he will not be coming back to the world of the living."
"Is... is that his choice or yours?" Jazz asked him her voice still soft and slightly muffled in his chest.
He shook his head even though she couldn't see him then said, "It was his choice, Jasmine. I asked him before I came back last night and he said no. And quite frankly, I don't blame him at all."
Jazz could only nod into his chest and sniffled before pulling away and Vlad pulled a handkerchief from his breast pocket and let her wipe her eyes. He stood up and poured them both some coffee.
"Would you like some breakfast with your coffee?" He asked her. Changing the subject needed to happen, they'd talk more later if she needed to. Right now she needed to calm down.
"You... can cook? I thought you had cooks for that?" She asked as she laid the handkerchief on the table.
Vlad laughed a little and said, "Yes I have cooks but I can cook and I'm quite the good one as well. What would you like?"
She smiled, just barely, but it was a smile and Vlad was glad to see it. "Pancakes? With bacon and those little sausage links?"
He smiled and said, "Alright coming right up!"
She giggled a bit and watched and sipped her coffee as the older cooked a late breakfast for them both.
After they both ate Vlad left for the company and Jazz contained herself into his library, well one of his libraries, and found whatever book she deemed interesting enough to read.
~~~~

"Jack honey, how is everything going with the specter speeder?" Maddie asks walking down into the basement after grabbing her and her husband some coffee.

"Just about done, finishing up the wiring Mads," Jack answered her from inside the flying contraption, underneath the dashboard area.

She smiled laying his mug of coffee on a desk closest to him as she sipped at her coffee. The specter speeder was one of their bigger inventions, other than the ghost portal. It was sort of like a hovercraft, or as Danny might have seen it as a spaceship. The controls are a bit similar to that of a space ship just slightly less complicated and easier to use. They were going to use the specter speeder to go into the ghost zone in search of both Phantom and Vlad. Find them, bring them back interrogate them both, and continue their experiments and tests.

Even though Phantom had declared himself as their dead child, all Phantom was now was a ghost. A creature of the dead, a monster... an evil disgusting monster. At least that's the decision they've come to.

Vlad though, was a different story. The man was supposedly half ghost, half alive, and half dead which shouldn't even be possible. No, it wasn't possible. And until they had further proof they concluded that Vlad was possessed and had been possessed since the incident. A ghost took the chance of him almost dying and took over Vlad's body. Using his body to do evil things, to attack the town and people and anything else they wanted to. They were going to attempt to pull that ghost from Vlad, rip it from its host, and then destroy it.

They'd save Vlad from this obvious torture he was going through. They'd save their kids from the manipulation of both Phantom and the ghost possessing Vlad's body. They were doing good. That's what they told themselves, that's what they forced themselves to believe as they continued finishing the specter speeder.

"And... done!" Jack announced and slipped out of the aircraft-like vehicle.

Maddie smiled and kissed him on the cheek and pointed to his coffee on the table. He smiled widely at her and kissed her forehead then grabbed his coffee downing half of it in one go. He'd been working on the wiring all morning and finally got it done.

"When do you suggest we enter the... ghost world?" Maddy asked while eyeing the closed portal doors.

Jack hummed as he drank his coffee and said, "Why not now?"

Maddie slowly nodded as she thought but sighed after a moment and said, "But how are we going to find them, we know that the ghost world is a vast world, it's huge and never stays the same."

Jack set his cup back down on the table and waved her into the specter speeder while saying, "Don't worry, remember we collected a lot of data and especially DNA from Phantom. I implemented a tracking system into the specter speeder."

She nodded while smiling, her husband really was a genius, especially when left to work alone. He did all his best work alone, and although it made her sad she understood that's just how her husband is.

"We just put whatever DNA sample we have in here," he said pressing a button and a clear tube-like container popped up from the control panel. "The system will calculate the ectoplasm in the DNA and lock on to what the DNA is from."

She smiled more hugging her husband and kissing him on the cheek. "You're amazing honey, let me grab some of the DNA we collected. Then we'll get ready and head into the portal."

He nodded and they exited the specter speeder, he went upstairs while she quickly collected a vial of Danny's blood and a small bag of Danny's hair. She placed the items safely in a small compartment-like drawer by the driver's seat in the specter speeder and then headed up to the ground level to get ready with Jack.

~~~~~
Clockwork turned away from his timeline screen to look at Danny resting on the couch in his lair with Pluto hovering above his head. The poor blob was still worried and quite frankly scared for the young ghost and so was Clockwork. Clockwork knew that the Fenton's tracking device would work and lock onto Danny's ectosignature and they'll find their way to his lair. Danny had no energy to fight them or fly away, it would be useless anyway with the tracking device they have. And if he told Vlad what the Fenton's were up to he didn't even want to think about what Vlad might do. There are so many possibilities, and so many different outcomes, and most of them aren't good. He huffed in annoyance.
He waved Pluto over to him who chirped quietly but floated over.
Listen, Pluto," Clockwork began and pointed to the paused screen of the Fentons getting ready to head into the ghost zone. "I'm going to head out in search of Skulker, I need you to stay here with Phantom."
Pluto chirped in confusion blinking its eyes at the older ghost. It didn't chance a look at the screen, traumatized from its time with the Fentons.
Clockwork waved the screen again and Pluto forced itself to look and began shaking before looking back at Clockwork. Pluto wasn't the smartest blob ghost but it could tell they were getting ready for something and it wasn't good. It chirped anxiously.
"They're prepared the enter the ghost zone, in search of both Phantom and Vladimir. I'm going to find Skulker and make sure he gets in their way as much as possible, to shut down any of their anti-ghost systems. I'll be gone for a bit," Clockwork said. He patted Pluto's head softly. "Stay here with Danny, if he wakes while I'm still gone, do your best to keep him calm."
Pluto chirped anxiously again but nodded and nuzzled Clockwork's cheek before floating back over to Danny and plopping itself onto the younger's chest.
Clockwork smiled lightly before flying off into the ghost zone, he wasn't sure where Skulker was or where his lair would be. The metal ghost's lair always moved around and was hard to find. Teleporting wouldn't work because he didn't know where either were.
He flew as fast as he could in the general direction where most ghosts mingled or lived trying to hone in on a specific core, Skulkers. He flew for what felt like hours, even though time worked differently in the ghost zone, he had asked several ghosts if they'd seen Skulker or knew of where he or his lair might be. No one knew and Clockwork was getting worried that Skulker might not be in the ghost zone right now and if that were the case then the ghost would be in the world of the living causing chaos. This would be ideal, it would put at least a pause on Maddie and Jack Fenton coming into the ghost zone to find Danny.
He came to a stop seeing a familiar female ghost, she was a teenager with green hair like a flame, a shirt with one short sleeve over the shoulder ripped jeans, and blocky, knee-high boots. She had black bicep high gloves on and dark makeup drawn on her eyes with dark purple lipstick on her lips. A guitar was placed over her shoulder. She was talking to another female ghost. Ember McLain, Skulkers girlfriend.
She had to know where Skulker was.
Clockwork floated over and cleared his throat to let them know he was there. They both turned to him and he said, "Ember, where's Skulker?"
He had no time to explain, and pausing time would do nothing.
Ember blinked in confusion and said, "If he's not at home then he's either in the world of the living or off in some dark corner of the ghost zone hunting down smaller ghosts."
Clockwork sighed swiping a hand down his face and said, "Where was his lair last seen? I need to speak with him... unless...," he trailed off staring at the two female ghosts.
Ember raised an eyebrow and the other female ghost tilted her head. Clockwork didn't pay attention to her at first but finally realized who she was. Kitty, Johnny Thirteen's girlfriend, another male ghost. They had died together and even after death have stayed together.
"What old man?" Ember asked.
Clockwork ignored the old man part and said, "Listen, Phantom is in danger."
Kitty's eyes narrowed and Ember snarled out, "Who should I kill?"
"Two ghost hunters are planning to enter the ghost zone in search of him," Clockwork continued, "they have a thing called a Specter Speeder and a tracker. If you two can slow them down and even gather other ghosts to help while I find Skulker so he can shut the thing down, it would keep Phantom from getting tortured...," he almost said again but stopped himself.
If he had added that one word the two females would most assuredly go ballistic. They adored Phantom and would show him around the ghost zone if he was bored and wanted out of the tower for a bit. Ember would play her guitar while Kitty sang and Phantom would join Kitty in singing.
Although Phantom was fourteen when he died, he's a brand new ghost in their eyes, a baby essentially. He needed protecting, he needed attention. And yeah, part of it was because Clockwork of all ghosts is the one taking care of him, the other part was because they genuinely cared for the ghost boy.
"I'll get Johnny and some other friends," Kitty spoke running her fingers through her hair. "I won't let them touch Phantom."
Ember nodded, "I'll get some friends and other ghosts, Skulkers lair was last seen closest to Nocturne's lair."
Clockwork thanked them and teleported to Nocturne's lair. Nocturne was a ghost who fed on dreams and was highly dangerous and ancient just like he was. He looked around honing in on Skulker's core and sighed in relief when he finally felt the strong core and flew off in its direction.
~~~~

Danny slowly woke up yawning and blinking his eyes open seeing Pluto instantly, perched on his chest like a bird. He smiled and patted the little blob lightly.

Pluto chirped softly and nuzzled Danny's neck then began hovering next to his head as the young ghost at up and began looking around. He frowned finding the tower empty and reached his core out in search of Clockwork's but found his core wasn't anywhere in the tower or outside.

"Pluto, where's Clockwork?" He asked even though the blob wasn't able to speak actual sentences.

Pluto chirped slightly anxiously and nuzzled Danny's neck again.

"Did he go see Uncle Vlad?" Danny asked and allowed Pluto to plop itself on his shoulder.

Pluto chirped in an affirmative and Danny nodded. He found he was still very tired, another bad day for his body. At least his vision was much better than before. He had decided staying seated and talking to Pluto was much better than doing anything else.

"I miss Uncle Vlad Pluto but... I don't want to go back there. What if... if they find me again," Danny muttered and curled in on himself. "What if they get to Uncle Vlad? And... and did to him what they... they did to... me?"

Pluto chirped sadly and nuzzled Danny's neck trying to tell him not to worry but it was hard for Pluto to relay what it wanted to say. So it just stuck with nuzzling him and staying with him.

"Did Clockwork say when he'll be back?" Danny asked trying to distract himself from thoughts of the Fenton's, his parents.

Pluto shook its head against Danny's neck. Danny sighed but nodded and decided to lay down some more, he still felt extremely tired. He wished CLockwork and Vlad were here, he felt safe around him. He closed his eyes letting the tik tik tik of the clocks in the clocktower lull him back to sleep for a bit.

When he awoke again he was face to face with Clockwork. his body immediately reacted and he lazily sat up and wrapped his arms around the older ghost's neck. Clockwork smiled softly and sat down letting the boy lay across his lap.

"Pluto told me you woke up earlier," Clockwork said and ran his fingers through Danny's unruly white hair knowing it helped soothe the younger.

Danny nodded and muttered, "Mhm, was worried you weren't here."

Clockwork nodded and said, "I apologize, but I didn't want to wake you. You need your rest you're still recovering."

Danny yawned and cuddled closer to Clockwork's chest letting the tiktok of Clockwork's clock in his chest soothe him even more.

"Pluto said you went to see Uncle Vlad, how is he?" Danny asked softly.

Clockwork looked at Pluto who had plopped itself on the ancient ghost's shoulder and it chirped lightly. Pluto didn't tell Dany what Clockwork was doing, most likely to keep the younger calm while neither he nor Vlad were here to soothe him with their cores.

The older ghost waved his hand to open up Vlad's timeline to show him hard at work at the company. Danny smiled but felt his core twitch slightly, he missed Vlad he wanted the man's comfort. He loved Clockwork and he was always able to calm him and soothe him when he needed it but he was still injured and he needed Vlad's comfort to help him recover. He hated that the man had to continue his other life and he knew that was selfish thinking but he couldn't help it.

~~~~~
Jazz hadn't wanted to come home again, especially after seeing what her parents had done to Danny, but they had left in a hurry. She needed to grab some things from her bedroom and the upstairs bathroom. She had intended to sneak in grab her things and then go without her parents noticing her at all.
But of course, she had to enter her home at the moment of her parents running around the living room gathering items and tools and machinery she hadn't the faintest clue of what they were. She stood in the doorway way eyes slightly wide as she watched them run around like a bunch of lunatics. Which honestly wasn't even all that far off from the truth.
She'd learned from a young age to stop questioning her parents' antics and their 'job' but right now she was genuinely confused and asked herself what the actual hell were they doing.
Jazz watched them for a few more minutes before shaking her head and focusing back on the task at hand. Gathering her belongings from her bedroom and the bathroom and then leaving again as if she was never here. She quietly closed the front door and began her slow but quiet walk to the stairs and began her ascent up them.
Honestly, their frantic running around was giving her anxiety, there was too much going on too fast for her brain to handle. She kept her head down as she stared at the steps as he proceeded up them. Focus on the stairs, Jazz, she thought to herself. Count them, 4... 5...6...
"Jazz?"
She tensed freezing in her place and turned to look at her parents, hoping she'd kept her expression blank, with no emotion. It was her mother who'd spoken.
Staring at her mother now as the older woman looked at her she realized the anxiety she felt wasn't necessarily from them running around like lunatics, but because she feared her parents. She was scared of them, scared of what they could do, scared if they thought that perhaps she was possessed or something and they attacked her.
"You're back home?" Maddie asked having stopped her packing of some tools in a toolbox once she noticed her daughter from the corner of her eye.
Jazz just barely managed to shake her head, swallowed some saliva down her throat, and said, voice small, "I'm just grabbing some things, then leaving again. I have uh studying to do."
She knew her voice wobbled, and she tried to calm herself down. But looking directly into her mother's eyes had her cowering away a bit, seeing how... chipper they seemed to be. After... after torturing their dead son's ghost.
Jazz is terrified right now, terrified of the things they're capable of. They claimed to be scientists and inventors, but they shouldn't be able to torture someone the way they had.
Danny may already be dead and a ghost, but they could have destroyed him. Vlad made it clear that Danny had been dangerously close to just vanishing because of what they did. She didn't think they'd do it to a living human being, but the fear she has now after seeing her brother that way overrode anything else logical in her mind.
Her mind went back to the thought, what if her parents thought she was possessed and tried to do what they did to Danny to her? Jazz knew that it would probably kill her and damn it all she was not ready to die, especially not at the hands of her parents.
"Jazz, dear please stay home," Maddie spoke in that sweet soft mom voice she used when trying to console her children.
But at the moment Jazz found that tone even more terrifying, it felt like a silent threat to her.
"You're safe here, you can study here," Her mother continued in that sickly sweet soft voice.
Jazz did not like the way her mother spoke to her, and began slowly walking over to her. As if she were walking over to a scared dog in the street intending to give it treats if it came to her. Jazz took an unconscious step up the stairs, then another step, and another.
"Am I safe?" Jazz hadn't even wanted to say anything, didn't think she could with a tightness in her throat threatening to crush her esophagus into pieces.
Maddie blinked in what seemed like genuine hurt and confusion but Jazz wasn't sure if she wanted to believe that.
"What do you mean honey? Of course, you are," Maddie said.
She was now at the bottom of the stairs with one foot on the first step. She held her arms out beckoning Jazz toward her.
Jazz took another two steps up the stairs eyes widening but said nothing. Her chest felt tight, her throat hurt and she forced herself to swallow some more saliva. Deep inside Jazz knew her mother wouldn't hurt her but that fear, the anxiety was bubbling inside the pit of her stomach and making her nauseous. She hugged her arms around herself.
"Jazz just stay home, you know you're safe from the monsters outside," Maddie began her ascent up the stairs now.
Jazz forced herself to not run up the stairs, she had to calm down, take a deep breath, and then let it out. Although it didn't do much she still felt that bubbling anxiety in her stomach.
"After all, they can turn into people, act like people we love and trust," Maddie continued. "We're just trying to protect you from things like that."
Jazz blinked at the words, was she talking about Danny? Did her parents think that some other ghost had taken the form of her younger brother just to hurt the family? Or was she talking about Vlad, did her parents figure out he was a half-ghost? Did they assume he was possessed? Or something else she wasn't sure of?
Honestly were parents were really mad. Mad scientists in real life? That thought made her chuckle silently in her head.
"Phantom... Danny is not a monster," Jazz spoke, forcing herself to at least stick up for one thing she knows for certain. She won't out Vlad if they still haven't figured it out.
Her tongue had felt thick in her mouth as she spoke trying to appear as unafraid as she could.
Maddie sighed then, running a gloved hand through her hair, and said, "I'm not talking about Phantom. Although we know it can't be Danny, that's just a fact."
Jazz laughed even though anxiety was threatening to spill over her throat and hurl her breakfast and light lunch all over the stairs. She clenched her fists at her side but stayed silent, once her mother had her mind set on something it was almost impossible to change it.
"Honey," Maddie continued ignoring the awkward laugh from her daughter, "I'm talking about Vlad."
Jazz blinked once again her hands unclenching by her sides and the nausea became too much. She dry heaved and then turned and sprinted up the stairs and locked herself in her bathroom. She heaved again lifting the toilet seat to kneel in front of the toilet in case she did throw up.
They... knew? They knew about Vlad? She thought but it only made her sick again and she had to swallow again grabbing her phone from her back pocket.
She was shaking as she unlocked the device opening her contacts and scrolling down until she found "Uncle Vlad" and pressed the call button.
It rang four times before going to voicemail. She didn't bother and ended the call then redialed his number. She did this four times until he finally answered on the fifth call.
"Jasmine dear? Are you okay?" He asked.
And she had never felt more relieved hearing his voice and heaved out a loud sigh. She had to swallow a sob threatening to break itself out of her throat as she whimpered, "They... they know. Uncle Vlad they... they know."
He was silent on the other line but she knew she didn't have to reiterate what it was 'they knew.'
"Where are you?" He asked after a moment.
"At... home. Had to... had to get some things," Jazz said her voice shaky and just barely understood by the older man on the phone. She felt she was seconds from actually hurling everything she ate into the toilet.
"I...," She continued, "was... was gonna go back to... your place afterward. But... she saw me..." She dry heaved again moving the phone from her ear so she wouldn't get anything on it if she threw up. "I locked myself... in the bathroom... upstairs."
Vlad hummed lightly then said, "Try and stay calm, breathe in and out slowly, I'm on my way."
Jazz could only hum as an answer she continued to dry heave into the toilet. Her hair was getting in the way but she couldn't care less at the moment. She could only hide and wait for Vlad to get here.
