Chapter Text
After 11 hours and 30 minutes, Satoru and Suguru made it back to Japan. They were back home where they belong. They got off the plane and started to walk through the airport. There was black car waiting for Satoru. He walked outside as he went towards the black car. Satoru opened the door and went inside, sitting down. Satoru closed the door and the car drove off. The car was heading back to Jujutsu Tech High School. The school that he went to with Suguru. As they were driving back to school, Suguru was getting a bit worse the more they were getting closer to Jujutsu Tech High School. Suguru was breathing harder than he was when they were back on the plane. Suguru was acting a bit strange when he kept on shifting away from Satoru. It was like he was trying to hide something that he didn’t want Satoru to see.
Satoru tried to take a glimpse of what Suguru was trying to hide. All he could see was that Suguru was hiding his arm. Satoru questioned why he’ll be hiding his arm. He started to become worried and asked Suguru if his arm was alright. Satoru moved right next to Suguru, “You okay?” Satoru asked. Suguru didn’t turn his head but he nodded, assuring Satoru that he was alright. Satoru sighed as he knew the point that they should talk to each other a little more. Satoru gave a small pat on Suguru’s head, “Suguru, remember, you said that I can tell you anything, especially what I’m feeling. You should do the same.” Satoru advised. Suguru nodded, transforming back into a necklace and wrapping himself around Satoru’s neck once more.
Satoru brought his fingers to twirl the gen of the necklace. Satoru wanted to speak to Suguru about how he was feeling. With the heavy breathing and hiding his arm. It was a bit strange, he was even hiding his face. He didn’t look at him when he was talking to him. The only time he acted like that was when they were teens back in Jujutsu High School. It was during the time that Riko was killed. That’s when it clicked to him, he could be depressed. But, why was he depressed? Nothing came to mind on why Suguru would be depressed especially at a time like this. Satoru shook the gem a bit as he was trying to get the attention from Suguru.
But the time that he was trying to get Suguru out of his gen. They were already at Jujutsu Tech High School. Satoru was a bit disappointed that they were here already but he was glad that he was back at school. The first time that he felt happy to be at school. He gets to see his students and his friends again but he does have to talk to Yaga about Suguru. That was a conversation that he wasn’t ready to talk to Yaga about yet. But it’s like what Shoko said, he has to talk to Yaga before he gets in deeper trouble than he’ll be when he reveals the truth to Yaga especially when he's forced to tell the higher-ups about what he's done to Suguru. But first, he needed to bring Suguru to his room. That way, Suguru would be safe and warm, especially since he could be catching something or so he hopes.
Satoru left the car and walked inside the school. Satoru brought his luggage with him. Satoru headed to his bedroom as he made it. Satoru opened the door and came inside his room. Satoru closed the door and locked it. Satoru walked over to the bed and took the necklace off his neck. He placed the necklace on the bed as he tapped it a couple times. Satoru smiled, “Suguru, you can come out now. We’re back.” Satoru said. Suguru formed back into his form as he laid on Satoru’s bed. Suguru was still breathing a bit heavy which just worried Satoru even more. He wasn’t sure why Suguru was breathing hard but he was getting more worried about him.
“Suguru, are you okay? You need to tell me. I want to take care of you. If something is bothering you, tell me. I’m here and ready to listen.” Satoru said.
Suguru didn’t turn to look at Satoru, “I’m fine, Satoru. Just a bit tired from the trip. That’s all. I just need to rest.” Suguru claimed.
Satoru shook his head, “I know it’s more than that, Suguru. I’ll talk to you about it after I meet with Yaga.” Satoru said.
Satoru walked back to his door, opening it. Satoru walked outside his room as he looked back at Suguru. He watched as Suguru laid in his bed, curled up. Satoru knew that there was something darker than meets the eye. But he’ll be back to talk to Suguru after he informs Yaga about the situation. So, Satoru closed the door and locked his door, leaving the side of his door. The moment that Satoru left, Suguru looked back at the door as he was breaking a sweat. Suguru turned his attention towards Satoru’s table. Suguru slithered himself towards the desk as he looked through his things. He knows that he’s not supposed to look into Satoru’s stuff but he knew that he needed to find what he was looking for.
After a while of searching, he found some pictures of him and Satoru when they were teens. Suguru looked at the pictures as he was staring at them, looking at every detail of himself. He was observing the pictures that Satoru had been keeping for all these years. Suguru sighed as he found the picture of him, Satoru, and Shoko. He never really liked that photo. He didn’t even want to take it in the first place. But looking back at it now, he was happy that Shoko forced him to be in the picture. He remembered that he flipped off the picture, showing his middle finger. He guessed they cropped it out which ruined the picture but he thought it was funny. It didn’t matter at the time, Suguru observed all the images until he got a clear image in his head.
Suguru squinted his eyes, “I got it.” Suguru said to himself.
Meanwhile, Satoru and Yaga meant outside as they were starting to talk. It started out smoothly before Satoru started to shift it towards the topic that he needs to inform Yaga about. Satoru sighed, “Yaga, I cursed Suguru and he’s hanging out in my room.” Satoru blurted it out bluntly. Yaga stared at Satoru, not saying anything to Satoru. The moment was quiet, it was complete silence. Satoru found it odd that Yaga wasn't saying anything. He just blurted out that Suguru was alive but in the form of a cursed spirit. He thought Yaga would be angry or shocked or anything. Just show any emotion on what he just told him. But Yaga just said nothing, his glasses were covering his eyes so he wasn't sure if his eyes were widening out of shock. Whatever Yaga was going to react to, he started it late.
Yaga shook his head, “YOU TURNED SUGURU INTO A CURSED SPIRIT?!!” Yaga yelled out.
Satoru flitched as he formed a nervous smile. Satoru nodded as he was confirming that what he said was true. Yaga shook his head once more before he started to pace himself back and forth until he put his hands on his sides as he turned to glare at Satoru. Yaga took off his black glasses and revealed how angry he was at Satoru for doing what he wasn’t supposed to do. He wasn't even supposed to turn Suguru into a curse or safe him in any way after his battle with Yuta and Rika. Now, they have another cursed spirit on their hands. But this could be worse than Rika, this was Suguru Geto. The same curse user who caused a war and killed 112 people in a village. Suguru Geto was bad news and Yaga knew that he was going to get worse over time or so he thought at the moment.
In the meantime, Suguru desperately looked at the images. Suguru turned to look at his arm which was shifting back and forth from cursed to human. Suguru watched as his arm was shifting from cursed spirit to human. That was when he figured that maybe he can use this as his opportunity to turn back into a human or at least have the form of a human being again. So, Suguru tried his hardest to remember how he looked when he was alive. When he was a curse user. Since then he has been a jujutsu sorcerer. Suguru wanted to be there for Satoru. Suguru never wants to abandon his best friend ever again. So at the moment of changing, his body started to shift and change as he was turning into a black goo that was staining the floor of Satoru's bedroom.
At the same time, Satoru and Yaga started to argue about Suguru. They kept fighting back and forth about whether Suguru was alive. It was the time that they needed to figure out how to get rid of Suguru but Satoru won't allow Yaga, the higher-ups, or other sorcerers to kill Suguru. Even if it means his life is on the line, he has lost Suguru once, he won't lose him the third time. Satoru had to witness his own best friend leaving him and then he had to be forced to see his best friend die in front of him. Now, Satoru can't handle it for the third time. Satoru knows that he'll go into a mental breakdown if he has to see his only best friend die all over again in front of his face. Satoru won't stand it and he'll never allow them to kill Suguru especially when he's still alive and kicking.
As the moment went on, Suguru shifted from cursed spirit to a human being. His body was twisting and turning as the black goo started to slip off from a familiar body that was being formed. Suguru grunted as he huffed in pain but he kept on going through the transformation. He thought of the good old days when him and Satoru were happy and playful. Suguru smiled before his smile shifted into a human form. Suguru chuckled as he knew his transformation was working. Suguru didn’t stop himself but kept going with his great change. This newfound change is the next step of evolution. The next step of a human soul as a cursed spirit turning back into a human being. It has never been done before but he was doing it, he was changing back into a human being. He wanted to make sure that every detail was just right. He wanted to look the same as he used to. The way he looked in Satoru's eyes.
For the time being, Satoru and Yaga kept fighting over Suguru. Both giving valid points on why Suguru should die and why Suguru should stay alive. Satoru informed everything on what happened back in the United States, California. He was searching for a way to break the curse before he meant trouble and he had to help his other best friend back in California. Satoru explained that he was fine in the eyes of the great elders. Suguru saved a girl’s life and fought Nana, who was a evil headmaster that wanted to cause another war upon Alejandro’s people. She was evil and controlling everything. Suguru helped Alejandro from the blair infection. Suguru was redeemable, he can be redeemed. He can help them once more again just like how they used to when they were young. But Yaga didn't believe so. He didn't believe that Suguru could change. He knew Suguru was still the curse user who killed innocent people just to create a foolish world that will never happen and even if it was possible, it would eventually fall down as chaos would destroy them all eventually.
In the final moment, Suguru finally rose up from the black goo and it fell on the floor. Suguru stood up as it slipped through his body. Suguru slowly looked at his hands, seeing that they were human. Suguru shook his head as he was weak and in a daze. He thought he could be seeing things and maybe it was a dream that he was having. Suguru pinched himself, confirming that he wasn’t dreaming but it was happening, it was reality. Suguru slowly but excitedly moved over to Satoru's mirror and looked into the mirror. As he saw it, his own reflection. His reflection wasn't a cursed spirit but he was human. He was a human being. Suguru smiled, cupping his cheeks as if he was human once more but not as a human but he was back when he was a teenager. Suguru smiled as he walked towards the door, unlocking it, and walking out of the room. Suguru slowly walked through the hallway as he wanted to show Satoru what he's done.
In the midst of Satoru and Yaga’s fight, it finally started to cool down when Satoru convinced Yaga that Satoru would take the full blame if Suguru did hurt any of the students and innocent people outside of Jujutsu Tech High School. Yaga still wasn’t sure if it was a wise idea but if Satoru was going to take the full blame for Suguru’s faults then Yaga has no choice but to accept this term from Satoru, no matter what the cost is. As they were accepting some terms about Suguru as a cursed spirit, they heard footsteps coming towards them. But they thought it was a student or the other staff members in the school so they didn’t pay any attention to the sudden footsteps. They went back to talking about the matter of Suguru before a voice called out to them which caught them off guard, mostly Yaga, who hadn't heard Suguru’s voice for so long. Satoru turned as he put a wide smile on his face, that way he could greet Suguru. But, what he saw next would leave him in sudden shock forever.
Suguru smiled as he spoke, “Hey Satoru.” Suguru said.
Satoru’s eyes widened, “Suguru?” That’s all he could say.
Suguru appeared in front of Satoru and Yaga in his form. The form that they used to see him when he was younger. Around his teen age, the time that they were all at peace and they were happy. They stood in shock as they were suddenly frozen. They couldn’t say anything about what they were seeing. Suguru didn’t look like a cursed spirit but he was in a human form. This was a shock to them. It was nothing that they’ve seen when it comes to cursed spirits. Yaga turned to stare at Satoru as he thought that he might know something about this, “Gojo? Did you know something about this?” Yaga asked Satiru. As he turned to look back at Yaga, he shook his head as he didn’t know that Suguru could shapeshift all this time. Satoru turned back to stare at Suguru as he was still in shock like he was about to faint to the ground and might never wake up.
Suguru weakly walked over to Satoru, “Satoru, look at me. I’m me again. I’m not a freak anymore. We can be together like how we used to be.” Suguru kept tripping over his feet.
Satoru walked over to Suguru, “I can’t believe this, Suguru. You're uh… you again.” Satoru said.
Suguru said, “I know right. I can be normal again. Just like how you saw me when we were teens.” Suguru fell into a daze.
Suguru was going back and forth before he tripped once again but this time he couldn't catch himself. Before Suguru could fall to the ground, Satoru caught him in his arms. Satoru held Suguru in his arms, seeing that Suguru had no clothes on. Satoru stood up Suguru, taking off his jacket, and wrapping it around Suguru. Satoru carried Suguru by his legs and lifted him into his arms. Suguru flitched at the sudden carry-on that Satoru was holding him in. Suguru turned to look at Satoru, feeling the warmth that Satoru had. Suguru eventually passed out due to how much cursed energy he used to shapeshift himself back into his human form. Satoru carried Suguru off, leaving Yaga dumbfounded by the sight of Seeing Suguru once more but not as a cursed spirit but as a human being again, alive and well.
Satoru carried off Suguru. Satoru walked through the hallway with Suguru in his arms. Satoru made sure that he didn't drop Suguru to the ground. Suguru settled himself in Satoru's arms and felt that Satoru curled around him. Yaga watched Satoru walk away with Suguru in his arms. There was nothing Yaga could say about the matter as he didn't know what to do or what to say about what he was seeing. Yaga knew this could be trouble for them in the future, for all the staff and students within Jujutsu Tech High School. But it wasn’t just them but for the people of Japan. If Suguru has gone through a great step of evolution then they might have trouble in their hands. It's just that Yaga wasn't sure if it'll work in their favor or this will work against them. Whatever the future has for them, it'll affect them all greatly to the core.
