Chapter 1: her in-denial phase

Chapter Text

Jinsol, is bestfriends with the class president, always wore Yoona’s hoodie. It was oversized, soft from countless washes, and smelled exactly like her, so much so that it felt like carrying a piece of Yoona wherever she went. For the longest time, it was their thing.

Until she stopped.

At first, Yoona didn’t think much of it. Hours turned into days, and still, Jinsol didn’t reach for it.

Until she saw her.

There was Jinsol, laughing and comfortable, wearing someone else’s hoodie. It fit her differently, it was the realization that Jinsol had found something else to wrap herself in.

Something that wasn’t hers.

In that moment, the silence between them suddenly felt loud, and the question hung heavy in the air.

If she doesn’t need my warmth anymore, then what am I to her?

•—————————————————————•

There, inside the classroom, students from Mixx Academia stayed seated in their respective chairs, waiting for their professor to come in and teach whatever is important.

Jinsol wasn’t very fond of studying, she sometimes sleeps in class. But for some reason, she never gets caught. But hey, what can we say from a professional “girls at the back” lad.

While waiting, Jinsol reaches for Yoona, the Class President, for her hoodie. At the very front row, she skips like there’s no tomorrow, and lets out a massive jump at her last destination.

“pstt!” Jinsol whispered.

Yoona was startled. Clearly unaware of her surrounding.

“Ouch!” It was Jinsol’s turn to be startled. She reached for her left shoulder for comfort.

“Why’d you have to slap me like that?” Jinsol complained. Eyebrows furrowed from discomfort.

“You started it, had to return the favor.” The older girl shrugged her shoulders, showing signs of satisfaction. As she finishes saying that, her eyes darted to Jinsol.

Now Jinsol wouldn’t have approached her like that if she doesn’t have one good reason, would it?

“What do you want now? A paper? My pen? My money?”

“You’re so extra, i’m not here to take your money. Anyway i’m here to borrow your hoodie.” She giggles while talking.

Jinsol smiled as wide as she can, eyes turning into smiles themselves, to convince her lovely ‘bestfriend’ to give her her hoodie.

“By the way, I’m also seated next to the air conditioner, can I have your hoodie please pleaseeeee?” She shared a little information to really convince Yoona. With those big eyes that not one person can ever say no.

Yoona was part of that person. She actually started crushing on her bestfriend since their professor paired them up together for a project. She ended up having good news and bad news.

Starting up with the good news, they knew they were going to ace that top spot. What can we expect from an academic achiever, right?

Along with the bad news, that paired up project made her realize her feelings for Jinsol. Yoona was down bad for her so-called bestfriend. She didn’t know what to do with her said feelings for the latter. It was her first time having a ‘crush’ if that is what you all call it.

After years of being said to focus on studies, she didn’t have the time to actually enjoy her highschool life. From being a freshman to a senior, all she cared about was her studies.

But Jinsol didn’t let that happen. She didn’t want Yoona to waste all her time on books and homeworks, so she did what she had to do.

She’d take her to coffee shops after school, lets her ride a bike on neighborhoods, go to arcades whenever her time is free, buy ice creams together, and showed her a few mobile games like minecraft.

She did what a bestfriend had to do, to make her enjoy her youth life before college. That’s what made Yoona like her, or rather love her.

Jinsol isn’t like other teenagers nowadays. She’s hyper as a cheetah, still enjoys playing physical games, is very affectionate towards people, and is never too shy to show her energy in public.

She makes Yoona let out the kid in her, and that’s a good thing.

“Hello? Earth to Yoona??? HELLO!?”

Jinsol grabbed both her hands to shake Yoona’s shoulder hard.

She then drifted back to reality, confused to why Jinsol grabbed her in the shoulder.

“As I was saying, can I borrow your hoodie. H.O.O.D.I.E”

The realization hit her when she saw how close their faces were. Jinsol didn’t even care, it’s kind of her thing actually.

Jinsol can flirt with her peers for fun, join in some dumb shits with classmates, but when it comes to love, that girl is oblivious as hell. She can never figure out if someone was flirting with her as friends or someone is actually in-love with the latter.

Jinsol can be really blind with love-related things, she hadn’t even noticed the pink soft blush that showed to Yoona’s cheeks as the extrovert wanted borrow the class president’s hoodie.

Because she believes no one would truly love her true self. Jinsol can fake up a smile, yes. But something deep inside is pulling her back. No one would ever know as long as she’s all smiles and laughs.

Shyly, Yoona shifted her gaze to her bag.

“Right, yes. Yes, you can.” She reached for her pink colored bag, with a my melody keychain on the side of her zipper.

The moment she opened her bag, all of what’s inside is full of books and supplies. All tidied up along with her pencil case, macbook, and waterbottle. It’s a little odd that her waterbottle is in a different color. Considering the older girl has a pink colored complex. We may never know though.

The long haired girl took a glance at her light ‘yellow’ colored waterbottle, lips forming into a teeny tiny smile before drifting back to reach her hoodie.

Jinsol, despite already feeling cold, is giving Yoona the cheesiest grin to show her thanks.

“Ah ah ah, you better give this back by afternoon.” Yoona said before handing the hoodie.

“What do you think I am? A thief? Please, do you really see me that low?”

The short haired girl let out a pair of big convincing eyes.

Jinsol’s both legs bounced with restless energy as she was then given the hoodie.

“Thank you so much imnida!” Jinsol snorted, hugged Yoona tight and then came running back to her seat without ever realizing what she has done to her.

Yoona felt warmth all around her head to her legs, circling her like it’s a cycle. That warmth had been there since the day Yoona met Jinsol, since long before her undying feelings emerged.

This is gonna be one long year…. Yoona sighed.

She knew she has feelings for her ‘bestfriend.’ Yoona is hyper aware of her emotions, but this time, she couldn’t even control this mess.

The great Seol Yoona.

The Class President.

The Academic achiever Seol Yoona, is feeling overwhelmed by something so stupid.

Her younger self would never believe what she has gotten into. Pathetic.
