Chapter Text
Inspired by Ahenix's recent update in I'm Always By Your Side! Thank you so much for writing it now I can't take my mind off of the idea of them going to Italy by impulse *screaming*
☀☀☀☀☀
It was during the car ride and Vincenzo took Chayoung home after a long day in the office when she finally had her freedom to think about something else outside of work. Looking out at the passing nightlights in the window as they take the road, her mind flies somewhere as she had this thought in her head by impulse ever since she woke up this morning because of what she saw on Youtube.
Chayoung may be a busy woman but she sure does give herself a time to spend her usual vlog-watching. Contrary to what she said in the early days of her post-Wusang career, she now uses her phone for entertainment purposes; streaming videos to be exact.
She starts a conversation with him.
“ Byeonhosanim , have you ever thought of going back to Italy?”
Vincenzo furrowed his eyebrows while eyes still on the road. He hummed while thinking, “Well, sometimes I do, but it doesn’t really come to my mind recently. Ever since I got my name cleared here, I don’t think about Italy as often as I did back then.”
It has been four months ever since the whole fiasco that they had to face ended. Vincenzo was able to clear his name with the help of Ahn GIseok & Mr. Cho and he imprinted on his mind to be forever grateful to them. That fiasco, though, they don’t speak of.
“Fair enough, this is your motherland afterall.” She shifted on her seat to get a better look at him. “But do you wanna go there for a vacation?”
“I haven’t thought about that actually, but it would be nice to take a breather in Italy someday.” He told her.
Being in Korea has been a relief for Vincenzo as he longed to come back to his home country ever since he was a child. Although, he would want to visit where he grew up from time to time for him to not forget the land that hound him to who and what he is today.
Chayoung hummed in response to the man driving on her left. Eyes going back on the road, her imagination of having a day walk in beautiful scenery never left her head.
----
“Byeonhosanim , we’re here.” Chayoung jumped a little on her seat when Vincenzo opened the car door for her. She did not even notice that he went out of the car because of how her mind is literally flying above her head making her lost in her own thoughts. “Oh! Right, right. Thank you, Byeonhosanim .”
She stepped out and tidied her wrinkled suit. Vincenzo had been wanting to ask her since earlier why her mind is not with her in the entirety of their car ride before and after their small Italy talk.
“I’m just curious, is something bothering you? I mean, your thoughts seem to be wandering tonight.”
“Actually there’s something I’d like to ask you.” She said not in a shy manner but quiet enough to make Vincenzo lean a little closer to her without invading her personal space.
He nods, “Go on, what is it?”
“I was thinking if you want to go to Italy?” She muttered. “Capri to be exact….?”
“Capri? All of a sudden?” Vincenzo is not shocked though, knowing how impulsive her thoughts could be sometimes. “May I ask why?” He added as they walked towards the door of her house.
“Well, there’s this walking tour I watched on YouTube and it’s in Capri and it’s so beautiful! And since we have not really spent our summer because of all the things we had to take care of, I thought we could go somewhere not so excruciatingly hot but still….summer-y?”
It is autumn in Korea and the cold breeze of the upcoming winter is approaching. Meanwhile in Capri, it’s almost as if summer never ends and it goes on the entire year. An October spent in the Amalfi Coast is a lot more relaxing than the usual summer months because fewer tourists and locals visit the island, in addition to the sun being calmer than its typical heat.
Vincenzo looked at her with a wondered expression in his eyes. He examined her eyes under the moonlight to find an answer to her offer. “But the office? We cannot leave it unattended?”
“What’s a one 5-day quick trip compared to all of the things we had to go through? Shouldn’t we get rewarded for staying still until the end?” She answers.
Chayoung is more than right. After all of the arson, theatrics, piercing, and lives being taken, the two lawyers definitely deserve to catch a break. It’s not like they are running away from their responsibilities as an adult but more on about taking a breath to regain the the vibrancy in their spirits that was once so bright but now negatively saturated. They are in need of air & colors, and Capri seems to be the right place to get it back.
As they reached the door, Vincenzo faced Chayoung to say something that will truly keep her mind restless for the night with all the planning she has to make.
“Capri, it is.”
