Embody Me

Summary:

Minho was a young dancer. He was deaf but he didn’t need to hear the music to dance and let go. It was the only time he felt free, feeling the vibrations coming from the music was enough to set his soul free. It put the brightest smile onto his face and suddenly the world didn’t seem so quiet anymore. That was until a scout picked up on him, promising him a great deal and that he just had the right track for him to dance to. A young producer who was looking for his first artist.

Chan on the other hand was blind, he couldn’t see the world. He didn’t know what the sky looked like, he didn’t know the color of anything nor what he looked like and while he came to terms with the fact that he will never meet his soulmate, he found his remedy in music. The invention of technology helping him guide himself through the program where he made music. That was until he got recognized by a producer, coached through everything. One day though, he came back to tell him that he found a dancer for his teaser video on YouTube.
Everything was falling into place, right? Going so smoothly.

Chapter 1: The beginning

Chapter Text

It’d be a lie if Chan said that he wasn’t nervous. He felt the anxiousness crawl up his spine ever since he opened his eyes this morning, knowing that he was going to meet the artist, who was going to turn his music into real art with his dancing. This was his first deal and the fact that the other was deaf. . . was a little challenging because he couldn’t see him, so he doesn’t know how to sign but he could write. It wasn’t like he couldn’t see at all. It was more of a. . . heavy blur? Either way, he downloaded a program where he could easily type on, where a person signed for him. It’s the last he could do, right? Mark, the producer, wasn’t always going to be there. Only to get him to the hall where Minho, the dancer, was going to be waiting for him. Chan specifically asked him to do that. He wanted to be at least. . . somewhat be independent.

Heart in his throat, he heard the door opening even though he was sitting at the table with his set up at the far corner of the big hall. Hearing two sets of feet approach him. One he could make out as Mark and the other must be Minho, a smile broke out on his dimpled face even though he couldn’t see. Chan was quick to type into his laptop: “Hello” while he greeted Mark and turned his laptop for the deaf dancer to see. “He told me, that he is good at lip reading, don’t worry about signing too much, he understands” Mark says after he approached, feeling his presence behind him before the other even put his hand onto his shoulder. Letting out a small sigh of relief, he turned his head where he saw the dark silhouette of someone. “Hello, I am Bang Chan! I am looking forward to working with you” He says enthusiastically while he automatically spoke slower because he wasn’t quite sure, how well the other could lip read. “Nice to meet you Bang Chan” He hears an automatic voice say, so he was using an app which was also a relief. They’d definitely get along. He was sure. “I will leave the two of you alone for a while just hit me up when you need anything” Chan hears Mark say and he nodded.

There was some awkward silence between the two of them after Mark left and Chan found himself pressing his lips together before turning his head back to the dancer, the dancer who was still standing in front of the table. Probably not knowing what to do now. “Um. . . I don’t wanna come off as weird or rude, but. . . would it be fine for you, if I touch your face? I just like to know what you look like or like. . . feel” He says slowly. A few seconds if not a minute or two passed, feeling already sick to his stomach when nothing came back. Preparing himself to get instantly dropped, he pressed his lips together. That was. . . until he felt some slender fingers curl gently around his wrist. They were a tad cold but there was not too much time to dwell about it when the other pulled his hand up. Feeling a breeze of air brush his face, feeling his nose with a sweet scent, when the other placed both of his hands onto his face what he assumed to be his cheeks first. “Thank you. . . “ Chan breathes quietly even though he was sure that the other probably didn’t see. He was truly thankful though he was okay with being blind since he doesn't know anything other than that, it still left a weary feeling at the pit of his stomach to not even what the person in front of him looks like by touch.

Letting out a soft breath, the soft pads of his fingers slowly with a feathery light touch graces along his round cheeks and down to his sharp jawline. His brain already trying to form a image in his head but it was hard to do so and still, when he moved his hands back up? He could already tell, that this must be one beautiful person. Being able to tell that from the slightly curve of his small nose, the positions of his eyes, the size of his small forehead and those soft lips. They seemed to be full and as he read his face by just a touch alone, his own lips spread into the most beautiful smile. “Nice to meet you, Minho” He says now earnestly when he dropped his hands back into his lap, his dimples showing as he smiled so brightly. So happy that he didn’t get refused, that he didn’t even notice how his hands balled into small fists on his lap. Not everyone was comfortable with it and he was completely okay with it because not everyone likes to be touched in the face but. . . all the more happy he was, when someone actually let him do that.

What Chan also didn’t notice were Minho’s crescent eyes, sparkling with eagerness and happiness at Chan, plump lips curled up into a fond little smile as he watched the young, blind producer. Taking in his deep dimples which appeared when he smiled so brightly and the way, even with blindness, his eyes always found his own and oh, Chan had the most beautiful and sparkly eyes, Minho thought to himself.

“Nice to meet you, Bang Chan” He hears that voice say again.

Maybe his heart made a small flip, who knows that.
