Comment on The lord of the wilds

  1. The mirror across the room showed her fragments: her own pale face, her own dark hair plastered to her neck with sweat. And him — multiple versions of him, layered in the cracks of old glass, every single one watching her with the same expression. Patient. Amused. Completely unimpressed. His face bore no mark of the iron. Not even a scar. - That is the most beautiful paragraph. Love a shattered mirror.

The kind of gentleness that is worse than violence because it makes no promises and keeps none. - that description

had never been human, had only ever learned to resemble it. - and that one!

She had bought time from men who didn't sell it. - I love that characterisation.

    Josef Krauss. - fucking Krauss

"that you were never actually choosing anything. - yeah but all your perfect planning, and you didn't account for Beatrice did you? This means that in a way she's been fighting him for years.

inside of a crypt where the dead had learned to breathe. - chilling.

the particular terror that leaves its mark in fabric - beautiful description

Saints who prayed while I fed. - what a monster, also really bragging whilst raping her, come on vampire have some class.

But the numbers were gone. - poor woman

"There you are," - he's obsessed.

The way one might cradle a broken thing before deciding whether to keep it or discard it. - silly silly vampire.

You didn't cry. - fucking psycho (I mean that as a compliment to you)
Who'd violated her body and called it interesting. - As I said, psycho.

Meant carrying their weight until your spine cracked, and when they asked if you were tired, lying: no, I'm fine, keep going. - this one resonates.

Owh who came to rescue her ?!??!

    1. First of all, 'fucking psycho' is officially my favorite compliment ever. I’ll wear that badge with pride! I’m so glad those specific lines resonated with you, especially the mirror and the one about saints. Lucien really has no class, does he? He’s a monster who’s far too impressed with himself.

As for Beatrice... you’re right, she’s been fighting him her whole life without even knowing it. She’s a survivor. About the rescue... well, who could possibly be brave or foolish enough to try and take something from Lucien? You’ll find out very soon!
