Wow Okay, first hurt and confused Dick Grayson was just so perfect. I was seriously sitting on the edge of me seat worrying about the plane blowing up on him, or something. Like wowza. THEN Bruce worrying because Dick can't hear him. Like OH my days!!! That was just absolutely gold. I mean this!!!! "Bruce couldn’t stop himself from answering, even though he knew it would be worthless:" This is Bruce! This is soo batman batdad. I just can't even. YES!!!!
Second, you know I have a intense love for Uncle Clark, so Superman showing up with his suit not on completely right because he *needs* to get to his nephew! I mean you had my heart before, but now??? oh dear.
Third, Bruce just holding his pulse to be sure he was still alive while they waited. ouch!
Fourth, "Above him Bruce wrinkled his forehead in displeasure and Dick wanted to smooth the wrinkles away – just as he had done as a child – but his arms felt too heavy to lift." I'm screaming!!!!! like yes, baby Dickie just going up to Bruce and forcing his face to stop being all squished. sign me the heck up!
5th, Okay I don't think I've ever ranted to you about my deep love of Jericho and Dick's friendship but I may have actually had to set my lap top down and walk away for a moment when you said he learned ASL for him. Like that just hit me write in the gut. Like if I wasn't already sobbing You sure should bet that I am now. Like OH MY PANTS!!!!
6th, "Dick watched as Bruce cried, as his father cried, and all he could do was offer his hand and his love." What the Sam's heck am I supposed to do with this?????
Okay it's official I am just soo in love. Thank you soooo sooo much. I can't not tell you how much I love this fic. If I were to tell you what my favorite thing was I would have to quote the whole thing. It was wonderfully written. I was on the edge of my seat. I cried. I smiled. I screamed. Writing confused characters is always such a trip - because at some point I am sure to confuse myself as well. But I am just excited to hear that the whump portion of this story worked just as well as I wanted it to! And that YOU LIKED IT! WOW!!!! And yes, all the good Batdad! UNCLE CLARK! Clark is like NYOOOOOM when Bruce said that it was Dick who was in trouble! AND HE SHOULD!
Bruce is a responsible father who knows that hugging people with brain injuries is a bad idea - pulse point will have to do.
I have this very intense idea about the first few years between Dick and Bruce that mostly consists of Dick telling Bruce to not look as old as he is.
Dick is the kind of person who would have probably started learning ASL the moment they first met a HoH person on patrol - but Jericho was the reason Dick became fucking fluent. Because Dick loves Jericho very, very much <3
