After the events of Uprising, the Precursors decide Newt is no longer strategically useful and mostly withdraw from his mind. Newt is himself again, more or less. He can’t remember the last decade very well, and trying to think about it too hard makes him sick in a very literal sense.
Due to his limited usefulness as an intelligence asset, PPDC lets Newt free on permanent probation: Newt has a tracking microchip implanted under his skin and he is required to check in with their doctors whenever they feel like it. Newt is also banned from doing any research related to kaiju or the Anteverse.
Newt and Hermann retire to rural Hong Kong and start a romantic relationship. Newt decides seaweed is his new thing and adjusts to being out of the spotlight. Hermann learns how to bake. Sugary American breakfast cereal is delivered monthly by drone. Everything is fine, except sometimes it isn’t.
I really like the sandbox I built in Muffin Top. Any future additions to that universe will be posted as part of this series.
