Summary
Taehyung's best friend was not the calmest in ordinary circumstances, and certainly not in the lead up to his wedding. Jimin's stress levels had remained just one step away from boiling point, and Taehyung was constantly on standby to talk him down. Bracing himself for damage control, he picked up the call.
“Hey, Minnie, what's up? ...Oh it's you, Jangmi-yah,” he said, concealing his disappointment. “How's he doing?”
Jimin's fiancée, Jangmi, had been leaning heavily on Taehyung to help keep Jimin calm, and he had come to wish this was a boundary she hadn't crossed. He'd allowed it, though, and now he had to live with it.
“Oh, he's fine. Just in the shower, he'll head to yours once he's dressed,” Jangmi replied, her smooth alto voice unusually strained.
Taehyung's eyebrows rose.
“So, are you going to tell me what's up?” he murmured soothingly.
Jangmi paused, the rise and fall of her breathing audible over the phone line.
“I've called to ask you a favour, Taehyung-ah,” she said, voice brittle and oddly high-pitched.

“So he's gone for six months and didn't tell any of us?” Namjoon asked, astonished. “I mean, he hadn't returned my calls since the wedding, but we all know life gets busy sometimes.”
“He didn't tell a soul where he's going,” Jungkook confirmed. “Taehyungie-hyung's cousin Jonghyunnie and his roommate are housesitting while he's away, but he told them he was away on secret business and they didn't question it.”
“Well, why would they? Living rent-free in one the most exclusive penthouses in Seoul? At least they haven't burned the place down in the three weeks they've been there,” Yoongi smirked.
“It was surprisingly clean, actually,” Jimin spoke quietly, five pairs of eyes swivelling to land on him.
“Park Jimin, you haven't lost your voice after all,” Seokjin joked. “I've never known you to be so silent.”
“Not a lot to say when your best friend suddenly disappears the day after your wedding,” Jimin deadpanned. “Until I saw Jungkookie today, I thought it was just me he didn't want to speak to.”
“But why on earth wouldn't he speak to you?” Hoseok questioned sharply. “Did something happen between you two?”

It was easy to lose oneself in London, Taehyung mused. Too easy, really.
Unthinkingly, Taehyung thumbed through his messages, stopping with a jolt at his conversation with Yoongi. While no longer avoiding contact with his bandmates, Taehyung had asked them not to mention Jimin. He wanted no news at all, nothing to stir his poor, entrapped heart into further yearning.
Cold turkey was the only way to give up Park Jimin.
Taehyung huffed out a humourless laugh. As if he could give up Park Jimin, in this life or any other.
As he read Yoongi's words again, Taehyung's heart drummed nervously in his chest.
