Summary
Zagreus has never met his mother. His father won't even tell him her name. All he knows is that she is a goddess, and that makes him a demi-god. But in the midst of war, even demi-gods can come to bad ends, and when Zagreus finally defies his mortal father to fight on behalf of his home city he is captured and made a slave, given as a gift to the hero Achilles. Achilles, though, and his lover Patroclus, are nothing like Zagreus expected, and his life as a slave plays out in ways no one but the Fates could have imagined.

Summary
