The end of December brings more than just the winter chill to the Imperial Palace; it heralds the arrival of a mysterious foreign delegation with their peculiar traditions. While the court prepares for a lavish masquerade ball - where everyone is granted the right to become someone else - Maomao and Jinshi find themselves buried in reports on this alien culture. Among the ancient scrolls, they stumble upon the lore of the mistletoe: a plant that, according to legend, grants luck through a kiss... or foretells the end of the world for those who dare to scorn its magic.
This story was born from a festive, pre-New Year mood that I wished to share with Jinshi, Maomao, and all of you. ❄️✨🥂
While this fanfic contains no direct spoilers for the canon plot, it is loosely set after LN 16. It reflects the evolution of Jinshi and Maomao's relationship, acknowledging that we have been on this incredible journey together for many years.
