Ilya carefully adjusted how he was holding Dimitri, their son, who was currently very loudly eating from his bottle. He tried to blink the sleep out from his eyes, since his hands were occupied at the moment. He nodded.
“I do,” he said, his voice sounding exhausted. It was too late (or early) for conversations like this. He could feel Shane's gaze on him, wanting to say something but holding himself back.

“You two are coming with papa and dada today,” Ilya chimed. Ava let out a loud laugh and Dimitri babbled at Ilya in response. “See? They are very happy to spend time with us.”
A smile crept onto Shane's face as he put some toys into the bag. Ilya picked up Ava, peppering her cheeks with kisses. She let out another laugh which then made Dimitri laugh. Shane zipped up the bag and picked up Dimitri, quickly wiping away some drool. “You're both gonna be extra good during practice right?”

Ilya sat by his husband's side on the bed. He cupped Shane's cheek in his hand, bringing him in for a kiss. They kissed, quick but nice. “You did an amazing job.” Ilya said to Shane in Russian. “I love you so much my heart feels like it can burst.”
Shane gave him a soft smile. He leaned into Ilya's hand. “You make my heart feel the same.” Ilya's thumb brushed against Shane's cheek. Against his freckles. He silently prayed that his babies would develop freckles as they got older.

Summary
Ilya lowered her towards his face, giving her exaggerated kisses on her cheeks. That sent her into another laughing fit. She babbled before eventually saying the word Ilya loved to hear. “Papa!”
“Good job, printsessa,” Ilya encouraged. “Papa is so proud of you.”
Shane watched, a smile forming on his lips. Moments like this he couldn't imagine that this was the same man who had been known on the ice to be an instigating asshole. The man laying beside him had a look of pure adoration on his face as he watched his little girl babble at him.

“You’re going to meet your big sister now.” He said quietly to the baby girl in his arms. She had opened her eyes while Ilya was downstairs, and now was looking up at Shane with blue, unfocused eyes. The fact she had Ilya's eyes made his heart melt. “She's very loud but she's very sweet. Like your papa.” The baby let out a tiny grunt. “Yeah, like papa. And your big brother, Dimitri, is more like me I guess. He's going to be a good big brother to you. And Ava's going to be a good big sister.” He gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead, which made her grunt again.

“Okay who is this?” Ilya said as another song played. Shane let out a deep sigh and looked in the rear view mirror. Everyone back there had fallen asleep, which meant that Ilya could play this game without any interruptions.
“Ilya.” Shane said firmly.
“Shane.” Ilya said back in a playful mocking tone. Shane could sense the grin on Ilya's face. “Who sings this?”
“Ilya we're not playing this game.”
“Moya lyubov, please.” Ilya begged. He took Shane's free hand into his own and kissed his knuckles. “Just a few rounds.”
Shane tapped his thumb against the wheel and let out a defeated sigh. “Fine. Whatever. Just a few rounds.”

Ilya stopped, looking at her with a confused furrowed brow. “What's what?”
“That.” Ava pointed to his necklace. The same necklace she had seen since birth. She had never seen him without it on. It slowly dawned on Ilya that while she always saw it, she had no idea what he was actually wearing. She probably was wondering why his necklace looked so different from Shanes. Or why they even had necklaces to begin with.
He thought for a moment, trying to figure out how to answer. “This was my mother's.” He said carefully.
