Summary
Despite the noise, the sound of totems popping and Parrot begging and pearls singing through the air, all that clogs his ears is the heavy silence of the moment at the meeting table. He’d hoped for Parrot to somehow quell the anger and violence that some tiny voice said wasn't him. Leo could have buried it deep down, pretended everything was fine and kept on living, clinging desperately onto his calmness.
‘…Has there been a single moment you’ve actually cared about any of us?’
Instead Parrot had released it, hot and burning and raving for destruction.
Was it always going to go like this? Is there any small, tiny part of this that's Leo's fault? Or does Parrot always bring everything crashing down around him?

Summary
There are five of them sequestered away in some room of District 13, just starting to put their heads together in a last-minute gathering of strategizing and planning. Spoke has been babbling about teamwork, about their separate strengths and the ways they can play each to their advantage. Something about the odds they face but the allies they can all rely on, and will need to in order to win.
It sounds like nonsense to Parrot. There Jumper sits, all unaffected and oblivious to how the shards of Paragon still dig into Parrot’s life and gut him whenever he breathes.

Summary
Throughout it all, Parrot cries. It’s soft, like he’s trying to hide his quivering shoulders, but never ceases. He just sniffles and whines, the noise leaking out into the air like slowly trickling water.
Some part of Wemmbu aches at this, deeper than he thought he could hurt for Parrot.
Egg leaves at some point, disappearing between the trees. He can’t stomach it. Wemmbu can, because he won’t let some fit keep him from saving Parrot’s life.

Wemmbu had only dealt the final blow, after Theo’s exhausted resources and body couldn’t take it any longer. Theo, who he never really knew well, but was always stained with gunpowder and dangerous rumors. Somehow standing like a lamb on a butcher’s block.
