They put pressure on you to be the very best that you can be, because if they do not, nobody else will, and their wants are your wants, and they want you to be the best, so you want to be the best. After all, there is no other option for you.

You do not speak their language, you do not think their thoughts, and every day, you drift further and further away from a country that you have never known, a home that has never felt like home.

Your parents are cruel people, and so were their parents before them, and so were their parents before them. Cruelty such as this is inherited, after all.

And yet, you wouldn't trade it for anything.
