It is the year ME 3236. Ixis Naugus has managed to survive his destruction at the hands of Aristotle Acorn but has been split into the original nine wizards who made up the Order of Ixis as a result. Their leader, Walter Naugus, has a plan to restore the order into their Chimera form and it involves using the mythical Chaos Emeralds, weapons of the Echidna Dominion long thought destroyed. Opposing him are two factions: the first led by Sonic the Hedgehog, who is suffering the effects of Mobian Spring Fever and now separated from his love Sally due to a lack of nobility. The other: a special force from Downunda dedicated to eliminating threats stemming from Chaos Emeralds and led by the last surviving representative of the species that tried to subjugate Mobius with them: Knuckles the Echidna. Their conflict will not only reshape Northamer's place in the world at large but also reveal secrets about Mobius to Sonic that will change his life forever. And worst of all, the cost to stop Naugus for good may be the life of one he cares for deeply...
