Summary
First fanfiction in progress. Experimental writing so bear with me. I wanted to write, with sheer inspiration alone, from BloodMary works on AO3. No forethought was put into this. I watched The Martian briefly for an English class, gotta watch that again. Watched Interstellar and Project Hail Mary multiple times but still messy on the details and science behind it. Currently reading the book for PHM. Watched Iron Lung, just confused on lore, using fanfics to fill in knowledge gap. Will fix with further research. B)👍
I want to discuss the psychological mindsets of the characters. Maybe a wormhole brings them together somehow. No idea how I'll do it so let me know how I would do that, thank you. Plus, feedback is welcomed, I am a total beginner. Would love advice. Please, and thank you. 💛 I will constantly be updating this until I get the details right.
Warning: I have sucky memory

Summary
“What’s your name?”
Simon was startled for a moment, and pulled his gaze back to Grace. His eyes were soft—not to say they weren’t before, but something had changed.
“Simon.”
Grace smiled. “Nice to meet you, Simon.”Or; The Eridians find a weird submarine alone on a moon and take it back to their human expert.

Summary
Ryland Grace was Eva Stratt’s first choice for mission science specialist aboard the Hail Mary. He declined, and the astrophage explosion never happened, so Martin DuBois was sent to Tau Ceti. He died in a coma along with Yáo and Ilyukhina. Simon was born on Earth fourteen years after Ryland Grace. Instead of the COI, the latter half of his childhood was marred by the beginnings of the astrophage crisis.
Fourteen years after the launch of the Hail Mary, a beetle returns to Earth. Over a decade earlier than should have been physically possible. The telemetry reveals that all three members of the crew died. So who sent it back, and why? Grace and Simon work alongside a team of scientists to see if the Earth’s Hail Mary pass can still be salvaged.
(Absolutely no knowledge of Iron Lung or Arrival is needed to enjoy this fic - I just borrowed a character from each. This is an AU of Project Hail Mary in a universe I'm calling the "Penpal Verse," for reasons which should become apparent.)

Summary
Simon has a problem. If it’s left up to him, he’ll try to take it to his grave.
Grace isn’t able to try the same, not for this.——
Simon can’t tell if Grace actually glances down to his lips as he puts his glasses back on his nose or if it’s just his own wishful thinking, as it happened in the blink of an eye, if it happened at all. “I, uh, was wondering, only if, well, I-,” Grace quickly averts his gaze, shaking his head with a nervous laugh, “You know what, never-”
Still reeling too much from his debatably imagined glace, Simon reaches across Grace’s space, placing his hand down in the space between Grace’s thigh and his hand. “Use your words, Grace.” One of his brows twitch, not nearly as patient as Grace is. “I hate guessing games, so spit it out.”
The nervous grin never leaves Grace’s lips and the bulb above the stove highlights the way blood rushes to his cheeks.

Summary
Simon didn’t expect his savior to be exactly his type.
What a welcome sight. Even if this stupidly handsome man ends up being evil, or working for the C.O.I, at least he’d die looking at something good.
or
Grace and Rocky find Simon's ship floating in deep space on their way to Erid.
UPDATE: This fic has been peer reviewed by a NASA engineer who has approved of the science!

Summary
It takes a long moment for the words to fully reach him because…huh? He tries for a laugh despite the way it makes his ribs ache. "We, uh…need to work on your sense of humour, pal. That's not a great joke, I gotta' be honest—"
Is not joke.
"…sorry, how exactly—?"
OR
Doctor Ryland Grace, still recovering from starvation and adapting to life on Erid, is now faced with the possibility of something he never thought he’d have again…human contact. The revelation forces him to try and come to terms with a fact he’d had no reason to unpack up until now: after everything that happened on earth…he’s afraid of them.
