Frank’s playing kept replaying in his head. Ray had gone to the show mostly out of curiosity. Gerard’s comment from the other night had stuck with him, and once the idea had started rattling around in his brain, it had been hard to ignore.

Ray Toro isn’t thrilled when My Chemical Romance starts talking about adding another guitarist. It’s not jealousy or anything. He just wants to know if the guy can actually play the songs right.
Frank is super passionate, and Ray already knows him from Pencey, but hanging out after shows, smoking at the Eyeball house, and joining the band are two very different things.
Then Frank picks up a guitar at the studio.

“Usually,” Frank says, quirking up a perfectly arched eyebrow at Ray suggestively, “When I get like this, like, intense, you know, I go out and get in a fight.”
“I bet you like losing fights, don’t you?”
Frank stands up, stepping smoothly into Ray’s space. He has to tilt his head a little to look up at him, since he really only comes up to Ray’s chin when he’s standing straight up.
“Let me run that riff again, let me show you what I’ve got.”
Somehow, Ray doesn’t feel like they are still talking about guitar.

Frank Iero's band is going major, even if he wishes it wouldn't. Ray Toro is their producer, tasked with shepherding the bands first major labor record to completion. Frank thinks Ray is a perfectionist asshole who won't get off of his case and will ruin the band's creativity. Ray thinks Frank is a stubborn punk kid who needs to get serious if he wants his band to succeed. They are both hopelessly attracted to each other.Series
